“What the hell was that?”
Ben grimaced. He had really been hoping this wouldn’t come up tonight.
“Well,” he started slowly. “I kind of have this... issue... when I hear finger snaps.”
His date, Jill, gave him a questioning look. He couldn’t blame her, seeing how he had just stood up from their table and presented his (clothe, thankfully) ass to her. More than a couple of other customers at the bar were shooting strange looks their way.
She was a little taller than him, dressed casually in jeans, flat heeled suede boots, and a relatively form fitting sweatshirt blazoned with her college’s team name. Her red hair was cut very short. “What kind of issue?”
Ben ran a hand through his own shoulder length hair. He was a fairly skinny guy, though fit, and his summer tan still hadn’t faded into October.
“It was my last girlfriend. She was uh, a hypnotist.”
She gave him a flat look. “A hypnotist.”
“Yeah, like one of those people who travel around to colleges and events to put people up on a stage to hypnotize them. Make them so funny stuff.”
Jill leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms. “And what does that have to do with you almost mooning me in the middle of a bar?”
Ben let out a long, low sigh. “Well, she... uh, likes to bring her work home with her. She practiced a lot with me and um, she incorporated that practice into our... our sex life.”
When Jill’s only response was another questioning look, Ben elaborated. “She conditioned me to react in certain ways to certain things. You know like the dog and the bells. But... sexual. She could whistle a note to uh, wake up my little buddy. She could snap her fingers to make me present my and she could... she could...”
Ben trailed off as he notices the look in Jill’s eye. He knew that look, he’d seen it in his ex’s eyes countless times. That was interest.
Jill leaned forward, resting her arms on the table. “Go on,” she said, that glimmer of interest in her eyes growing. She was starting to get ideas. “I’m listening.”
Ben gulped, and prayed to whatever higher power might be out there that he wasn’t blushing. He knew where this was going.
