Modern Art (Part 1)
[TF, Girl -> Statue] [Modern Fantasy]

“Umm, are you sure this will work? Kaylee??”

Kaylee sighed and put down her journal, turning away from the vat of boiling metal she had been tending. She brushed a stray group of green hair back under her baseball cap and looked over at the naked girl shivering on her art studio floor.

“Jess, you'll be fine. Your best friend is a trained witch, you gotta trust me. And before you ask, no, Cynthia couldn't help, she's in another project of mine right now, and no, I can't be the one in this project because I wouldn't be able to turn anyone back.” Kaylee folded her arms impatiently, she had shot down these arguments many times already, and Jessica's resistance dwindled away.

“Fine…” she whimpered, looking at the mold next to her. Jessica had often seen the results of Kaylee's projects, and they were fascinating. The girls became friends in art school, and Jessica quickly realized her new best friend was more than a skilled artist: she was magical.

Magic had been around, sure, but it wasn't something many people in public faced or dealt with enough to have to acknowledge as real. This extra energy to mold the universe was just outside most people's grasp, but Kaylee was one of the few who could see, feel, touch, and control it. She described it like fine strings flowing through her fingers and a twitch or turn would alter their course.

Her application of magic was more...quirky though. Invariably she wanted her art to be different, as artists tend to desire. She started with animating her art supplies and imbuing them with will of their own. They formed faithful and reliable assistants, and as they were formed by different parts of her own psyche, all drew and painted in unique ways. She was producing art that varied wildly from painting to painting that each contained unique blends of emotion and thoughts and styles.

Art galleries quickly called her the most versatile artist of the modern age. Her paintings were sold far and wide, and she was asked to attend show after show. Which only came to be a problem when she was expected at multiple showings at the same time. Instead of choosing which to attend, she agreed to all of them.

This was the first time Jessica was ever drafted into one of Kaylee's projects. That day she and three other girls each took a late bath and emerged wearing a second skin that was identical to Kaylee, down to even changing their mannerisms and voices. They were still unique individuals, but were indistinguishable from the real Kaylee, especially to the galleries and venues that had never met her before.

Jessica moonlighted as Kaylee's body double multiple times after that, even appearing in public with her at the same event. The secret was out, they knew the young up and coming artist was magical, but for a while, that changed nothing.

Until a very rich and very eccentric man had called up Kaylee wanting to commission a very expensive statue… one that only magic could create. And Kaylee needed a base for the statue, and that brought Jessica in.

Jessica snapped out of reverie, shaking the weird year she had lived and walked over to her friend. In the vat was boiling chrome metal, it's bubbles and fumes rising off it but giving off no heat. Kaylee focused on her work, controlling the properties of the metal for the project.

“Hey Jess...if we're going to do this, you should lay down in the mold now.”

Jess tried to answer a few more times, but she couldn't find adequate words to describe her nerves. The mold was roughly person shaped and filled a large section of the floor, designed for her to lay down in and have the second half of the mold attached, with wheels for raising and lowering her. She shivered as she laid down, the foam was itchy.

Kaylee came over, distracted by her work, and set the front half of the mold on top of friend, while her paintbrushes ran around and locked the mold together. Together they lifted up the square of foam so it stood upright, hiding a timid Jessica inside.

You can trust your best friend, you can see miracles before your eyes, but when you're told “I want to pour molten metal over you and let it harden and cast you inside”, you can't help but be anxious. But when the first drops hit her head, it felt strangely euphoric. Drops of liquid pleasure cascaded down her scalp, clinging to her hair and matting it to her scalp.

Before Jess could realize it, her feet were submerged in the boiling liquid, with it lapping at her ankles as it drizzled down her legs. She moved her toes through the viscous soup, the resistance making it harder and harder to move. Before she realized it her knees and thighs had been submerged, and the warm liquid lapped between her legs.

Try as she might to keep her legs tightly closed, the metal filled every crack and pore, finding its way into her private region. The warmth filled her making her senses come alive. Jess let out a stifled gasp, some of the metal flowing into her mouth and down her throat. From both ends, the metal worked through her body, magically ignoring everything inside her until the two streams met and spread outward. Every drop of blood, strand of muscle, and every bone was replaced with metal, while the outside of her skin was coated in thick layers moving up past her neck and to her face.

Jess had a moment of panic as the metal rose over her face: her eyes, nose, eyes were all deluged with metal, her sense droned about by the thick blanket of metal around her. Inside and out, all she could feel was the warmth of the metal. The thick and heavy warmth rose up into her head, pushing through what remained of the college girl’s skull and brain and replaced the former occupants of Jess's head with shiny metal.

Time moved slowly for Jess as the metal slowly cooled and contracted. With no way to keep track of time, she simply existed in the metal mold, her consciousness floating in the metal. Her presence mixed with the metal, blending and mixing and becoming one and the same. She had long since lost feeling in her limbs, and without any other perception, her mind slowly started to hibernate.

It was a week before Kaylee opened the mold and found the bright and already polished statue of her best friend laying on its back. Her arms were at her sides, separated from her body by the mold. Her face was captured in a look of shock and surprise, with lips parted. Every detail, down to the individual strands of hair accented in the solid mass of metal that was Jess's hair, down to the pores and bumps along her skin, this statue was an exact replica of the girl trapped inside it.

Jess didn't move it react when finally revealed to the world. The spell Kaylee put her under was marginally stronger than expected, and left her consciousness imbued with the metal. Her thoughts had become immobile and cool, much like the metal that made up her form.

Kaylee put her hand to Jessica’s head and watched as the statue stirred. Jess looked around and experimentally opened and closed her mouth, trying to form words that wouldn't come.

“Your entire body is metal, Jessica. You can't speak when you don't have lungs.”

Kaylee walked around the shop while Jess slowly sat up, straining bends into her metal. The artist returned with her tools, looking down at her friend. “So, the patron the commissioned you wanted a guard in his house, but didn't want someone obviously guarding the place. He wanted a more elegant solution, and when we discussed putting a security camera in a statue he refused. Still too obvious, he said. So he agreed to pay me a significant amount of money for a living statue. You'll be on display at his house, and to watch for intruders. We just need to… make you fit the theme of his house a bit more.”

Kaylee pushed Jess back into a horizontal position with surprising ease, as if pushing over a pillow. She pulled on a welder's mask, and before Jess could wonder what that was for, Kaylee was blowtorching the statue’s arms. The warmth filled back through Jess as Kaylee started shaping her arms around. She realized that since she cooled and hardened, she hadn't felt much of anything. She had just existed, and really hadn't even been too aware while Kaylee was talking to her. This warmth almost felt orgasmic though, and if she could quiver in delight, she would.

While distracted, Jess neglected to notice her arms being repositioned to the back of her shoulder blades and being resculpted into wings, leaving her looking like an armless angel. Her legs crossed slightly so that at only a very small angle were her privates visible, though it had the effect of making her rear more pronounced. Kaylee was prompted to fix this, not by reducing her friend's rear, but rather by making her friend more top heavy to match. In a final act Kaylee melted the face off her statue. Jess would still be able to see and hear, but would otherwise appear to be a classic statue who could be anyone or even no one.

Jess cooled and hardened again, her metal tightening in against itself. Kaylee stood over her and peered down at her friend's blank face. “When we get you changed back I'll give you your cut, and don't worry about the rent for your apartment, I'll have it covered. Well… thanks for doing this for me. I'll get you packed and shipped off, and see you soon.”

Before Kaylee finished speaking Jess had already zoned out, barely aware of her friend's presence. Kaylee wrapped the new found statue in many layers of bubble wrap and foam before grabbing a comically oversized box to put her in. Kaylee remained oblivious that her friend was deeply affected by the magic of her spell, and how little she could think without warmth. And so, unknowingly, Kaylee taped up the box with her friend inside, letting the new statue fall into another deep slumber.

Yet more time passed for the metal statue before her polished chrome emerged from the box. A man stood nearby, laughing and clapping. He stroked her surface slowly, the warmth of his hand leaching into her metallic abdomen. How perfect she was, how great it would be to have a sentry. He mentioned how if she should spot anything, that she should fold her wings in so they knew to get her restored. He also tried in vain to find a name on the statue.

“Well, since you are my commissioned piece of art, your new name is Metangela, since you are my Metal Angel.”

The new statue was promptly hung in the entryway. The man owned a lavish house with a grand staircase in the entry hall, and she was placed at the center overlooking the first floor, her head roughly at head height for the floor above.

The man, who never said his own name, came and visited the statue daily. Her touched her sides and stroked her legs, or he would climb the stairs and stroke her hair. His touch warmed her enough to stir a feeling throughout her, and try as she might to remember who she was before being a statue, it seemed further and further out of her grasp. Whenever he touched her, she was his statue, his property. She was Metangela, and nothing else.

As for being a piece of living security system, the mind numbing boredom and lack of anything to do lead to distractions and lack of focus. Guests came and went from her owner's house frequently, women who spent the night and businessmen who occupied the day. It seemed her owner was quiet popular at all hours, and it wasn't long before she decided that it was simply impossible to determine who the thief was.

It was many long, timeless months that the man-made angel spent held frozen in the entry hall. The man paid the exorbitant rental charges, and verifying her friend wasn't harmed, Kaylee let her friend stay in his care. On the one year anniversary of the project, the longest they had agreed in their initial contract, Kaylee returned to the mansion with her truck to collect and restore Jess. She was quite surprised and concerned when she pulled up to a massive heap of burnt ashes, long since extinguished, with no sign of her friend or anyone inside.
