It's around 4 AM as you work in your living room. The essay is due tomorrow and you're anxiously typing away, trying to remain focused and proofread as you go. Your girlfriend is sleeping upstairs, and you do your best to remain quiet after remembering that attitude the last time you woke her up.

As you stop for a break to proofread what you have done so far, a loud bang jolts you awake and you frantically look around to see what caused the noise. You look to the end of the table to see a pair of disembodied feet facing you, soles up.

"Oh God," you whisper, "you guys scared me! You might've woken up Ava!"

The feet don't look amused, and scrunch their soles as if to pout. It was clear what they wanted, as it has been a few days since their last massage.

You look at them and roll your eyes.

"OK, I'm sorry that I've been busy recently. I've got a lot on my plate right now, so can you guys go and reattach yourselves to Ava?"

The feet remain still for a while before they leap into the kitchen and onto the counter. You look up from your laptop to see them nudging a vase inch by inch towards the edge of the counter.

"HEY!" you practically yell in a whisper. "What are you doing!?"

The feet don't hesitate at all; In fact, they get the vase all the way to the edge, about to tip over.

It finally clicks in your head that they were either going to get the massage, or they would wake up Ava and you would be told off again.

"OK!" you whisper loudly again, "Fine, I'll give you both a massage."

You groan as you get up from the table to grab them, as they happily rock back and forth on their soles, eager for a massage.

First art piece here, looks a bit rough, but there is always room to improve. I traced using PaladinGalahad's Michelle commision photo, and I hope you enjoy this very short story and art piece!
