Some time ago, <span class="username-with-symbol u"><a class="u regular username" href="https://www.deviantart.com/uncloudedidentity">UncloudedIdentity</a><span class="user-symbol regular" data-quicktip-text="" data-show-tooltip="" data-gruser-type="regular"></span></span> posted some imageless "orphaned captions" (<a href="https://www.deviantart.com/uncloudedidentity/art/OCaps-2-655320713">OCaps 2</a>).&nbsp; One caught my fancy, and percolated in the back of my head until <span class="username-with-symbol u"><a class="u regular username" href="https://www.deviantart.com/athrubis">Athrubis</a><span class="user-symbol regular" data-quicktip-text="" data-show-tooltip="" data-gruser-type="regular"></span></span> commented on my comment there, and gave me a character to hang the story off of.&nbsp; The original caption "Figurative door mat, Literal couch" was just over 200 words.&nbsp; My take on it is a little longer...<br /><br /><br />Part 1 of 3.&nbsp; The remaining parts have all been posted.&nbsp; I envisioned this as a short little story, maybe 2,000 words.&nbsp; It ended up a touch over 12k.<br /><a href="https://www.deviantart.com/dkfenger/art/Artieficially-Upholstered-2-785038018">Part 2</a><br /><a href="https://www.deviantart.com/dkfenger/art/Artieficially-Upholstered-3-785144679">Part 3</a><br /><br />PS: Title got mangled when I first posted, edited it to correct it.
