Merle strolled along the tables.  All of his grandfather’s magical items had been laid out after the reading of the will, and as a direct descendant he was toward the front of the line for choosing which he would adopt.  He was tempted by a blue-winged amulet, but shook his head when he considered how his lack of dexterity would be even more a hindrance in the air.

He stopped in front of a decanter full of dark liquid.  “Grandpa had an endless decanter?  Why hasn’t someone else grabbed this already?”

His father chuckled.  “Oh, that.  Your grandfather was set in his ways.  He had a particular brand of madeira that he loved, and that’s all the decanter will produce.  It’s on the sweet side, and nobody in the family much likes it.”

“But... endless alcoholic punch?  For free?” asked Merle.  “That’d be awesome.”

“Then it is yours.  Try not to get too hung over.  Like all of his things, there’s a bit more of a kick to it than just the alcohol.”

Merle looked curious.  “Side effects?
