I debated how to tell the dresses apart for some time, as I was sure Kat... that is, my dress would prefer not to be restored. After mulling the matter for a while as I stared at the box, I moved to the closet. Were the dresses truly identical? I ran my hands over each in turn, and shook my head. I’d hoped to feel... something, that distinguished the woman from the dress. Nothing. Not a wiggle, not a strange unearthly warmth, not some kind of empathic emanation that would let me know the dress was happy being a dress.
I returned sullenly to the box, then got an idea. I pointed it at each dress in turn, but only one made the tip glow. “Aha! There you are, you minx.”
With the identities of the dresses settled, I returned to the pair of identical bras. Waving the box at them produced no useful glows this time. I sighed, and picked one at random. I hoped Katya was right about the box not turning non-people into people. “Sorry about this, but I promised to wear you out dancing...” A few button-presses and dial clicks later, and a familiar looking woman was wriggling on my bed.
“Hi.”
She held up a hand, shuddered through... I blushed, but continued to watch. She ended on a mouselike squeak, then sighed softly. “Thanks.”
“For?”
“Wearing me.”
I smiled. “So it was good for you? I was worried about the bra to bra change.”
Janis grinned hugely. “That was fantastic. I forgot my own name. We have to do that again.”
“We do?”
She sat up, and looked around. “Where is Katya?”
I pointed to the closet. “The dress on the right. I’d figured on wearing both of you... but maybe you’d rather come dancing with me instead?”
“Did you wear Katya yet?”
I shook my head. “We went shopping, then had a nice picnic. I turned her into the dress while I went to rescue my car, and then housekeeping tidied you all up so I wasn’t sure which was which. I got worried when I couldn’t find you at first. If you get lost...”
She winced. “Yeah, that would be unfortunate.”
“You’d be stuck forever, that’d be more than unfortunate.”
“I probably wouldn’t get worn much, either,” she replied with a smirk.
I rolled my eyes. “Get serious. Would the retrieval thingy be able to find you?”
She shook her head. “It wouldn’t find me, but it would change me back. Even if I’m half a world away.”
“Nice. So if I had that, I wouldn’t need to worry about losing you?”
Janis started to look deeply worried. “I... yes, but...”
“You don’t want to put so much power in my hands.”
“If you decided to keep us, having the retrieval box too... yeah, we’d be properly screwed. Uncle might have a way to find me without it. I don’t know. I’m honestly not even sure he’d start looking any time soon.”
“A moment ago you seemed fine with being stuck as long as you got worn.”
Janis looked guiltily toward the closet. “That’s... more true for her than me, but...”
“So what exactly are you worried about?”
Janis got up from the bed and prowled around me. “You. I don’t know you. My friend in Wurzburg said your friend said you were... ‘the right sort of person’.”
“Fair enough. What would it take to know me well enough?”
She glanced at the closet. “Dinner and dancing?”
“And I’m to wear the dress, mm? I think I can do that. What else do you need?”
“Hm?” She’d returned to prowling around me, examining me from all angles.
I fiddled with the box while she did so, and then pointed it at myself. An almost-familiar wobble later, I felt my curves settle into a familiar form. “Does this help?”
Janis continued to orbit me, closer. “Yes. Give me the box.”
I hesitated. “Your concern... I mean, I have a job to go to on Monday. I’d be missed, but I don’t think they’d expect to be looking for a dress.”
Janis just held her hand out. I debated for a moment longer internally, but curiosity won out and I set it in her hand. She grinned at me. “Hm. You were curious about being worn. Ready?”
“How could I possibly be?”
She laughed warmly. “Bra or panties?”
“Something fun.”
The world wibbled away from me. It was difficult to figure out when it stopped wibbling, because it was still dark and quiet and warm and something was making large parts of me wobble in a very pleasing way. I let go of my sense of self to enjoy the experience, and fell into my new shape instead. The jiggling was my owner’s breasts, and holding them secure became the focus of my energies, such as they were. When She murmured, “Mmm, good job bra”, I quivered with happiness.
I felt something slither over top of me, and was fuzzily puzzling it out when I heard Owner say, “There you go, paired with your sweetie-dress.” Her hands rubbed the fabric of sweetie-dress against me. Bliss.
Movement and slithering and support became my world. There were more words, but they were muffled and unimportant. There was nothing I could strain to hear better, nor did I have reason to care. The humming throb of club speakers, however, I could more easily place. It felt good, familiar even, and the dancing that followed was sublime.
Somewhere around then, time stopped having much meaning. My next clear memory was of sweetie-dress slithering off of me. I felt a little chilly at the contrast, and much more so when Owner took me off. Dangling in the air helplessly, I heard her chuckle. “You are a very good bra, and I’m sure the life of a bra seems wonderful to you right now. Shall I keep you this way?”
With that question echoing in my mind, the world went wibbly once more. I blinked and opened my eyes. “You didn’t let me answer.”
Janis chuckled softly as she shook her head. “I just wanted to plant the question, let you think about it from both sides.”
I levered myself up to a sitting position on the bed. “Huh. It is kind of stuck in there. Probably would have been anyway.”
“And? Are you ready to answer?”
I shook my head, and hopped out of the bed. Looking around at the very efficient little room, I guessed that we were in Janis and Katya’s apartment. “I need a hug and a kiss.”
“From me or Katya?”
“Yes.”
Janis chuckled and closed to give me a chaste hug and a decidedly unchaste kiss. She pulled away before I could get too involved. “Well?”
“I think I should like a comparison kiss.”
Katya appeared a few button presses later, and with a bit of nudging from Janis was soon in my arms. This kiss went on rather longer.
“Well?” asked Janis when she finally pried us apart.
“You are both excellent kissers. Katya was more passionate.”
Katya purred happily. “Yes!”
Janis turned to me. “Do you still want to spend the rest of existence as my bra?”
While I was pondering the question, Katya spoke up. “You wouldn’t leave me like that, why are you offering it to him?”
“Would you object if I wore him while making love to you?”
“Well...”
Janis grinned eagerly. “Ooooh. If only I didn’t want to be worn all the time too...”
“I believe I can help with that,” I ventured.
Both looked at me eagerly. “What?” asked Katya. “I’ll do anything. Be anything. So will Janis, though she won’t admit it.”
“I might.”
Katya raised an eyebrow and waited for Janis to elaborate.
“Okay, fine. Yes, I’d like to be worn all the time,” admitted Janis. “I also want to be human some of the time.”
“Bit of a conflict there,” I pointed out, dryly.
“Bah. I can want conflicting things. If I could choose the shape of my future life, I’d spend as much time as practical being worn, and be human when my owner doesn’t need clothes.”
“I’d be clothing all the time,” sighed Katya. “Pretty please?”
“I need to be male for work. Easier, and... I’m pretty sure I want to be male some of the time.”
Katya let her gaze trail over my body, from head to boobs to hips to toes and back, lingering here and there. “You make a really cute girl. Are you sure?”
I glanced down at my unfamiliar yet appealing curves and considered what it would take to arrange my life around this shape. “Reasonably sure. Partly due to practicalities around identity and history... Would you be okay being worn as boxer shorts, or perhaps a button down shirt?”
Katya’s eyes lit up at the second offer. “Yes, yes I would.”
“There we go then. I’ll turn you into a nice shirt, and wear you during the week. Evenings... we’ll see. I could get used to sleeping in a cute nightdress.”
“With or without boobs?” asked Janis with a smirk.
“Oh, definitely with. Boobs are great, whether they’re on me or some sexy woman like you two.”
“Sweet-talker. Keep that up and we won’t have boobs for long.”
“Oh please,” added Katya.
I looked her over. “You make a really cute girl, too. It’d be a shame to lose that beauty.”
“But...”
“If we do this, you need to be fair to Janis, and wear her at least some of the time.”
“Do what, exactly?” asked Janis.
I grinned at her. “Take you two back to Wurzburg with me in my luggage, of course. While I’m working, I’ll wear one or both of you. The rest of the time... someone’s getting worn. Might even be me, once in a while.”
“And you just expect us to go along with that?” asked Janis, eyes flashing.
I glanced over at Katya, who was on her knees and had her hands held up in prayer. “Oh please, please Janis...”
Janis snorted. “For how long, Katyamina?”
“Our bet didn’t have an end date,” said Katya. She picked up the box, and placed it in my hands. “I choose... for as long as she’ll have us.”
Janis gestured to the apartment around us. “And all this?”
“I don’t need any of it. We rented it furnished, none of this is ours.”
“You have a closet full of clothes. It’d be a shame for them to end up in the thrift shops.”
Katya shook her head. “Dresses don’t need clothes of their own. Keep anything you want, give away the rest.”
“You’ve literally known this guy for less than a day, and you’re willing to just throw your life away?”
Katya moved to stand next to me. “First, this is a girl. Second, what life? My crappy job won’t miss me, and I sure won’t miss them. My parents disavowed me years ago, and the only person I like in this town is you. Come with us.” Katya held a hand out to Janis.
Janis looked away from us. “I can’t just walk away like that. I’d need to give notice at my job, pack the pretty stuff and sell the rest, tell the landlord...”
“Okay,” I said, pointing the box at Katya. I set the dial for the red dress. “Catch up to us when you can. The restoration thingy has a locator, right?”
Janis stared at me gape-mouthed. “Are you... just going to walk off with Katya and the box?”
“Find us in Wurzburg when you’re done. The box will be in my apartment. I’ll be wearing Katya in some shape or form.”
“Ooooh!” purred Katya. “Yes please.” A moment later she was slithering to the floor. As we watched, her body continued to dwindle into a pile of lovely red fabric. I picked up my new dress and wriggled my way into it.
Janis looked like she was ready to cry. “It’ll take weeks. I need her.”
“You know where to find her. I have to be at work Monday morning, sharp.” I held my arms out to offer a hug, and Janis closed the distance quickly.
She sighed mournfully. “Why are you being so mean?”
“I’m being encouraging. The sooner you finish up here, the sooner you get worn with your sweetie.”
Janis looked around the room. She vibrated with indecision, then swore in guttural German. “Take me with you too.”
“Nope. You know you need closure here. You have my phone number, call me if you need help. I really have to get going, I have to be at work Monday morning bright and early. And male.”
“Not for long, the way you’re sounding.”
“We’ll see. Catch you on the flip side.” I headed for the door, and as I approached it I reflexively patted my pants pocket for my keys. No pants. No pocket. No keys. “Ah... do you know where my hotel room key got to? Asking for the spare like this might be tricky.”
Janis pulled the key out of her purse. “I thought ahead.” She dangled it in front of me. I reached for it, but she yanked it away. “What will you trade for it?”
I thought about it for a moment, then sashayed my hips. “An hour of dancing. You, me, here, just like this. I did promise to dance in my pretty new dress, and I haven’t yet.”
Janis looked incredulous. “Just an hour? That’s all you’ll give me for Katya? I need more.”
“I have to be back in Wurzburg Monday morning.”
“It’s still Saturday evening,” she protested. “Surely you can give me more than an hour.”
“It’s very late. I need to sleep, check out in the morning, then drive for hours.”
“Check out now. Stay the night here. Stay tomorrow too. You can start the drive back in the afternoon, be there by bedtime, yes?”
“I suppose.”
Janis hugged me tight. “C’mon! Let’s get you out of that stodgy old hotel already...”
I tried to come up with any sort of reason she was wrong. The only one I could muster was that I’d need to be male. Janis had no objection to that part of the plan, but swore she’d turn me back into a girl the moment I returned to their apartment. She made other offers that completely swept away any further thought of objecting...
One whirlwind of activity later, my suitcase was in the trunk of my car and my car was parked on their lot with a visitor pass showing on the dash. As we returned to Janis and Katya’s apartment, she darted ahead of me. “Wait out here.”
I chuckled softly. “No men in the apartment?”
The world went all wibbly and soft in answer, and the hand I put out to steady myself was slim and feminine. I hummed happily to myself to get used to my new voice once more. “May I come in...”
Before I could finish Janis yanked me through the doorway and started pulling off my ill-fitting masculine clothes. She slipped the Katya-dress over my naked body, and the slithering of the fabric made me all pointy...
“Dancing first,” she pronounced.
We didn’t dance for long before she tumbled me into her bed, and showed me just why female bodies are so, so wonderful...
After about the third world-shattering orgasm I started to droop from exhaustion. Janis protested the unfairness of it all.
“Trying to find an excuse to turn me into object 3?”
Janis’ eyes widened. “Can I? Please? Katya wouldn’t let me turn her into that.”
I looked down. “It is a little daunting. Maybe just change my hand to start?”
“Oooh! Good idea.”
I stared at my hand as it writhed and reshaped into a slim tendril of pink rubber. “Seems kind of... small?”
“I guess it only turned your hand into part of it. Here, let’s try the whole arm.”
Before I could protest my entire arm started writhing as it reshaped, dwindling away until that same tendril was now perched on my shoulder. “Uh... Is it going to need all of me?”
“Looks like it.” Janis twisted the knob. “Ready?”
I wriggled my abbreviated limb. “This isn’t working, so... I guess?”
She stabbed a finger at the button and the world wibbled away... all except my arm, which provided an oddly comforting point of reference in the chaos. Once it settled I tried an experimental wiggle. Janis cooed happily. “You can move? This will be so much fun...”
It was. It felt like my entire form was built to give pleasure. Hearing Janis’ cries and feeling her thrashing around me gave me a deep and abiding satisfaction. When she finally went limp I was nearly glowing with pleasure – not an orgasm, not all that close, but deep down inside it felt even more satisfying.
Some time later she stirred, and gave me a little kiss on my tip. “You are the very best toy ever and I’m going to keep you forever.”
The idea pleased me so much I entirely forgot to be afraid. I tried to find reasons why it would be a bad thing, but the warmth of the pleasure of being well-used for my purpose made it hard to hold on to worry. Eventually, as the night grew still and the cool air leached away the last of my borrowed warmth, I found myself able to think a little more rationally.
While the glow of satisfaction had faded with the warmth, the memory had not. I had felt pale shadows of such satisfaction for a job well done in the past. A hearty “good job” had been the most I received in praise. That, too, paled in comparison to the paean to pleasure Janis had given, clearer praise than any words could convey.
So why go back to my job? The call of responsibility and duty felt oddly muted. I prodded the edges of that feeling, and realized they were tied to my self-image. I had seen myself, and wanted to be seen as a responsible person. I couldn't feel that call any more – my self-image was no longer human. Toys had simpler motivation.
What would I miss? I had always wanted to know what happened next. To the world, but most especially in science and technology. Watching the latest rocket launch... I couldn't see. Instead of feeling loss at that absence, I felt oddly free. I no longer needed glasses.
I cast about for other things, but none of my possessions connected to me any more. My car was leased, my clothes were old, outdated and worn. The only piece of clothing that called to me was my new dress and very expensive bra. I was still looking forward to wearing them – almost as much as they wanted to be worn. With that thought I knew Janis would not keep me.
So comforted, I let my worries fade and accepted my existence. In the quiet and still I felt myself slip away into the dreamless void.
*** *** ***
Warm. Squishy. Purpose. Above all, the clarion sound of pleasure. Rushing and glowing and mmmmmmm.
Silence and fading, then the world squirmed back into focus and light filled my... My. Me. I took a breath.
Noises in patterns resolved into words. “Are you okay?”
I managed enough of a nod to break the string of questions.
“Oh, good. Katya would have killed me if I’d broken you.”
I moved my mouth experimentally as I breathed. Right, that’s how that worked. “Not broken,” I croaked. “Fuzzy.”
Giggling, the woman I could see leaning over me smiled. “I bet. Took me a while to remember being human the first time Katya danced wearing me.”
“Human. Yes, right.” I tried to sit up and Janis grabbed my arms to steady me.
“I hope you had as much fun as I did.”
“You sounded nice.”
Janis hugged me. “I bet. Thanks.”
I wrapped my arms around her, feeling suddenly awkward. “This was simpler when I was... Why did you change me back?”
Janis chuckled and patted my back. “Missing it already? I know I said forever, I wanted you to understand how we feel.”
I nodded, noticing the soft feel of her cheek where it rested against mine. “It is strangely freeing to let go of humanity. I see why Katya likes it so much.”
“That she does.” Janis sat back to study my face. “You were a very good toy. Maybe I should keep you after all.”
I tried to school my expression, but Janis’ broad grin showed that I’d failed. She picked up the box from where it had been lying on the bed and twisted one knob. Then she pointed it at me and the light lit up – I was still the target. “One tap and you’re the best toy ever. Tell me why I shouldn’t keep you forever.”
“I thought about that after you fell asleep. Job satisfaction... I’ve never felt it so keenly. Your cries were the best ‘well done’ I’ve ever heard.” I grinned at the blush I saw pinken her cheeks. “As an object I didn’t feel responsible for my human job... that’s coming back now. As a toy I wouldn’t miss it. Even now it feels... insufficient.”
“Sounds like a lot of ticks in the ‘turn you into a toy’ column.”
My gaze followed the light on the tip of the box avidly as Janis gesticulated with it. I tried to marshal my scattered thoughts. “A part of me wants to grab that box and press the button myself. But there are things I would miss. I like the challenges of my job, and my parents would be sad if I didn’t go home for Christmas.”
“Not hearing a ‘me’ reason,” growled Janis playfully, finger hovering over the button that would send me back to being a toy.
“The expensive bra. I’d... You want to be worn. I will wear you every day,” I swore.
“Always as the bra?” asked Janis eagerly. “That was the best.”
“As that very pretty and very sexy red bra.”
“What about your job? You can’t wear a bra to work if you’re a guy.”
“I’ll change back when I get home, and wear you all evening.”
“No hanging around the house, either. You have to go out.”
“I can’t go dancing every night,” I protested. “But if out walking and shopping and maybe having dinner at the nice local pub is enough... agreed.”
Janis practically shoved the box into my hands. “You better. I will see you soon. Go, before I change my mind and beg to travel in your suitcase.”
“Oh, don’t worry. You’ll get the suitcase treatment next time I go to the beach.”
Janis squirmed. “Damn it...” She glared at the stuff all over the apartment. “I hate being the responsible one.”
I smiled at her and held my arms out for a hug. She moved toward me tentatively, as if expecting a blow instead of a hug, but melted into the hug once it started. “How did you know?”
“That you needed a hug? Everyone needs hugs.”
“Not that. Nevermind. Just... get out of here and let me get to work.”
I chuckled warmly. “See you soon.”
