“Oh, you’re here.”

Donna winced at the tone in Doctor O’Brien’s voice.  “Is it a bad time?”

“You promised that my daughter would be safe,” he growled.

“Ah.  And has she come to any harm?” asked Donna mildly.

“She’s a living mannequin!”

“She is.  And very happy to be one, as I recall.”

“That’s as may be,” groused O’Brien.  “But she’s not exactly human.  And then there’s the trouble when she’s playing with her brothers.  She’s been stuck as their toys often enough that I’ve had to make a hard rule that she can’t be toys when she’s babysitting.”

Donna smiled a little at that.  “I see.  And did she ever end up stuck when she was responsible for them?”

“Well... no.  But that’s not the point.  I thought I’d lost her!  She didn’t come home for three days.  She got stuck in the mall as a mannequin!”

“How terrible,” said Donna, but her smile was a touch larger.

“And when she did show up, she said she was nearly disassembled and shipped to a new store.  If it wasn’t for the timely failure of a security camera...”  Colin narrowed his eyes at Donna.  “That was you.”

Donna’s smile grew even wider, and she bowed her head to him.  “Indeed.  I take care of my flock.”

“Then why’d you leave her there for three days?”

“You know why.”

Colin sighed and threw his hands up in the air.  “She was over the moon about the whole thing.  Talking about doing it again next month.  I’ve told her in no uncertain terms to tell me what she is doing before she gets herself stuck again.  We were frantic when she didn’t come home.”

“Ah,” said Donna softly.  “I had not considered that.  If she goes missing again, contact me.”

Colin’s lips twisted into a partial smile.  “I suppose we should have thought of that.  Ah well.  No great harm done.  I think you owe my wife a gift for the trouble, though.”

Donna giggled, and tossed Colin a remote.  “New settings, and a fresh charge.”

“Ooooh.  You do know how to apologize well.”

“And speaking of which...  Gwen?”

Gwen shimmered into a crystalline version of herself, then solidified into human form.  “Here.  Hi, Doc.  How’s things?”

“Here for a checkup?”

“She’s here to help out tonight, and learn how this all works,” said Donna.  “I’m going on vacation with my family, so I won’t be here next full Moon.  Gwen will be taking my place.”

Colin looked Gwen over.  “You’re looking good for a dead person.”

Gwen smirked.  “The Blue Vixen health plan has its perks.”

Colin glanced down at the remote Donna had given him.  “So it does.  Fine.  Do I have two nurses tagging along with me tonight, or just one?”

Donna flickered, and turned into a spark of light that settled into a diamond earring in Gwen’s right ear.  “Just the one,” she chimed.

“Right then.  Let’s be off.”

Doctor O’Brien’s rounds through the ICU went much as they had in previous months.  Patients teetering at the edge of death for one reason or another were visited by the pair, Colin would explain what was most needed, and a little subtle magic would get them past the worst of the crisis.  Several of the nurses on duty smiled at them as they did their rounds, and thanked Gwen for her help.  Apparently the nature of the ‘miraculous’ recoveries on the nights of the full Moon were no longer much of a secret.

Once they were back at the Doctor’s office, Donna changed back into human.  “That went pretty well, I think.  Other than the one guy you turned into a teddy, anyway.”

“Sorry, I misheard you.”

Colin rolled his eyes.  “Really?”

“Well...”  Gwen sighed.  “I just wanted to have some fun, okay?”

“Should we see if any of the nurses want cosmetic changes?” asked Donna.

“Not while they’re on shift.  I’ve had a few oblique questions on the topic, where would be best to send them?”

“Tell them to ask for Donna Specials at the Crimson Kitten.”

Colin nodded.  “I suppose that works.  It’d be nice to have something more formal to recommend to those who ask.  Some kind of clinic.”

“There is an old beauty salon at the end of the building,” mused Donna.  “I could afford to buy it out and rework it, or see if Ray wants to.  I think he’d like to own the whole thing.”

“If you get it set up, send me a pack of your business cards.  You’ll have more business than you know what to do with.”

Donna chuckled.  “That sounds nice, actually.  I’ll see what I can do.  Oh, before we go, any word on the Windsor Syndrome patients?  I didn’t see any here tonight.”

Colin’s expression brightened.  “I should have mentioned that before.  We tried your suggestion of working through the elements, and it turns out old-fashioned Cobalt therapy clears that right up.  They’re all fine, though the exclusion zone in Windsor is still growing.”

“Hm.  CSIS knows about all this?”

“I’m sure they know about the exclusion zone.  The Cobalt therapy... maybe not?”

Donna nodded sharply.  “I’ll be sure to mention it when I see Mackie tonight.  We’re expecting another visitor.  I suppose I should be there at the club when he shows.”

“Alright then.  Thank you two for the usual round of miracles.  One of these days this will feel routine.”

“But not today?” asked Donna.

Colin smiled.  “Not for a long time, I hope.”

Donna waved, then both her and Gwen blinked away into the night sky.  Moments later they were at the Blue Vixen, though the club was quiet.  A few of the dancers were warming up, but the club itself wouldn’t open for another hour.  Neither of them were surprised to find Kelly there waiting for them, a big grin on her plastic face.

“Your father was worried about you,” said Donna by way of greeting.

Kelly waved it off.  “Not half as worried as he makes out.  But... yeah, next time I’ll be sure to let him know what I’m up to.  I didn’t know about the camera.”  She studied Donna, then started to laugh.  “You did something, didn’t you?”

“Maybe.”

“The camera, or the ‘ooh, let’s ship this brand new mannequin out’?  Both?  You sneak.”  Kelly darted forward and hugged Donna tight.  “Thanks, that was so awesome!”

“But kind of hard to pull it off again.”

Kelly sighed, and nodded.  “I know.  I won’t say I’ve got the stuck fantasy out of my head, but... it has caused some issues.  And while I love the shiny look, it is a total pain in the ass some days.  Can you fix it?”

Donna shook her head.  “That one’s between you and the Moon.”

“Can I sweet talk you into making me human before I go see her?  Otherwise I’ll get distracted by my fantasies and mess up again.”

Donna waved a hand at Kelly, and soon her body looked normal once more.  “Better?”

Kelly licked her lips and then patted herself down.  “Yeah.  Having at least one soft body is nice.  Can you do something about the pendant so Dad will trust me with babysitting?”

“Only stuck when there’s someone around to watch the kids?  Tricky.  How would you like it to work?”

Kelly pulled the pendant from around her neck, and dangled it between her and Donna.  “I still like that this is... me.  I’d like to keep that.  Shorter locks wouldn’t do it, if something goes wrong with kids it can go wrong fast.”  Kelly sighed softly.  “Maybe it’d be best if I didn’t have the temptation.”

“Done.  Are you sure?”

Kelly snorted.  “No.  But there’s always next month, right?”

Donna smiled and nodded.  “I won’t be here next full Moon, but Gwen can take care of you.  She’d be happy to trap you however you like.”

“Oooh, maybe I should go find her now...”  Kelly turned to look around the still mostly-empty green room.

Gwen appeared in front of her, causing Kelly to squeak in alarm.  She recovered quickly.  “Hi!”

“Trapped, was it?”

“Please?”

Gwen shared a glance with Donna.  “Hm.  How about an animatronic blue vixen display out front, where all the passers-by can see you?  Something that just smiles at the crowd and waves, fully automated.”

“Ooooh.  Yes please.”

Kelly wobbled, and Donna guided her unoccupied body to a nearby chair.  “How long do you think it’ll take her to realize she can just swap bodies again?”

“Not long,” said Kelly, hopping out of the chair to sweep up Donna and Gwen in a big hug.  “Thanks.  That’s almost perfect.”

“Almost?” asked Gwen, arching an eyebrow.  “What’d I miss?”

“Timer for how long I’m stuck there.  I know I said no stuck, but...  Pretty please?”

Donna chuckled, and nodded.  “Fine.  Touch and hold the lock gem for two seconds.”

Kelly did so, and it went from green to blinking red.  “Hey, now I can see numbers floating in my vision.  What’s that?”

“Countdown timer.  You have between thirty and sixty seconds to pick a body to inhabit, then you’re stuck there for an hour.  Cancelable any time by a touch to the gem.”

“Cool.  So no accidental locking, but if I bounce between bodies I won’t know which I’ll get stuck in?”

“Exactly.”

Kelly hopped back into the chair she’d recently vacated.  “See you in an hour!”

Donna watched over her for a few moments until the lock engaged.  “There we go.  The Blue Vixen mascot has a resident.  Should we tweak it so she can do a few minor things?”

“Like control where it looks, and when it smiles?” asked Gwen.  “Done.”  She tugged Donna by the hand, leading her toward the stage.  “C’mon, let’s dance.”

Donna followed her eagerly, and soon two crystalline bodies were gyrating under the stage-lights, to music only they could hear.  There was scattered applause from the staff when they were done, and both bowed before dancing offstage and back to the green room.

Donna flickered and vanished then, becoming a crystal star floating over Gwen’s head.  “All you tonight, love.  Have fun.”

Gwen smirked.  “Oh, like I haven’t run fantasies before.  Get back here.”  She grabbed Donna, and forced her back into human form.  “Tonight is for having fun, I’m sure next month won’t be nearly as exciting.”
