The double date was going well.  Bernard and Will hadn’t seen each other in months, and had plenty to catch up on.  Traci was eager to have a chance to socialize, something she hadn’t done much of in the past month.  She hadn’t met Will’s girlfriend before.  Sandy had seemed shy at first, a little taken aback by Traci’s exaggerated figure, but soon they were chattering away like old friends.

A lull in the conversation as the desserts arrived made Traci grin.  In a loud enough voice to get the guys’ attention she asked,  “So Sandy, what do you do for a living?”

Bernard’s eyes went wide, and he subtly shook his head at Traci.  She flashed him a huge grin, and waited for Sandy’s answer.  Sandy stumbled through an explanation of how she’d gotten a job from her aunt, helping out with the local car wash.  It was something of a local landmark, but that didn’t make being an attendant there any better.  She explained that getting recognized as “that car wash girl” had grown a little stale, but at least it had given Will a way to break the ice.

Then she asked what Traci did for a living.  Traci grinned toothily before turning her gaze on Bernard.  “Why, I’m Bernard’s live-in lovedoll.”

The stunned expressions on the faces of the other three made Traci giggle madly.  She explained about the magical sheet that Bernard had acquired, and how it could turn people into lovedolls and back again.  “Or if you’re really feeling frisky, it can reduce you even further.  I spent a week as a condom, stuck in a jar so I couldn’t change back.”
