Inky Mischief 5
She pulled up her shirt to show a row of glyphs, the circle-Z of restoration, circle-V of duplication, and circle-X of erasure. “I am so, so sorry.”
I reached for her belly, hovering over the X and watching her eyes go wide. Then my hand darted to the Z and proved my suspicions. “Kory. So she really is gone?”
Kory nodded.
I picked up the pen, turning it idly in my hand. Such an innocent looking thing, other than the eldritch blue glow. A thought occurred to me. “Where was she when you erased her?”
Kory moved to the couch, and her hands described a volume in space. She was very much the artist, I could practically see the outline of my love. So it was easy to reach out and draw the glyph of restoration on her belly. The glyph glowed in the air, and biting my lip, I touched it.
She appeared, looking wild-eyed. “... yet! Kory, why are you crying?”
“I thought I’d lost you forever!”
She pulled Kory and me into a loose hug. As the hug got tighter, Kory flickered and changed to look like me. My eyes widened at the implication, but I didn’t let go in time to save her. With a flicker of blue, Kory vanished.
Before my sweetie got too frantic, I pointed out that Kory’s glyph of restoration was still hanging there, midair. That slowed her tears, but didn’t stop them.
“You love her.”
She nodded, and hugged me tight. “So much. It never worked before, but with the pen...”
I reached for the glyph glowing over my bellybutton. “I’ll get out of your way, then.”
She blocked my gesture by grabbing my hand and pulling me in for a ferocious kiss.
“We enjoyed having you in between us, and Kory has such crazy ideas for things we can do...”
I started to grin, and this time she didn’t block me when I reached for the glyph that would turn me back into their toy.
Life got very interesting from then on.
