In Too Deep 2 - Preparation
In the morning, Kelly found Steve sleeping at the kitchen table, beside a laptop displaying completed plans for a birdcage-shaped Disembodied Princess magic trick. Kelly resisted the urge to tousle the always-rumpled dark hair of the wiry twenty-something guy. He wasn’t as muscular as Barry, but she found him cute. And there was something about him this morning... When she leaned in to look at the plans more closely she brushed against him, and he startled awake.
“Oh! I’m sorry. Did you work on these all night?”
Steve blinked at Kelly owlishly. Something about her seemed off, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. “Uh... No? I was trying to work on an impalement prop, too. Can’t figure out how to do the levitation part.”
Kelly shrugged. “Could we do it with me standing up? If you modified the Disembodied Princess by putting round openings here and here, you could push the spike through it.”
Steve’s expression lit up, and he started scribbling notes on the pile of scrap paper beside his computer. “That’s brilliant! And saves me so much work, too. We’d just need a top for you to wear with one of the bigger portal exits on the back, and a little one in the front. I think we have a pair that will do...”
Kelly cheered, and in her excitement gave Steve a tight hug. The way her nipples poked through the thin fabric of her silk robe made Steve very aware that she wasn’t wearing a bra. He flushed, and tried to look anywhere but at her. That was hard, and wasn’t the only thing that he was finding hard...
Kelly danced off to the kitchen to start making breakfast while Steve distracted himself with modifying the plans. Once the eyes for the pole to pass through were added, Steve wanted to figure out dimensions. He got out a tape measure and as Kelly brought two plates of toast and jam to the table, he asked where she wanted to be impaled.
Kelly looked at him with an impish grin. “Why Steve, whatever are you implying?”
Steve blushed, which made Kelly giggle. She put a hand on his. “I’m just teasing, silly. What did you want to know?”
“The Impalement act. I need to figure out how high up the bracket for the pole should be. Where should it come out? Your belly button would be funny.”
Kelly shook her head. “Let’s go for sexy, instead.” She leaned forward and opened up her robe to expose her modest cleavage, then pointed between her breasts. “Have it come out right here, and we’ll get the guys in the crowd going wild.”
Steve couldn’t look away. After the silence stretched uncomfortably long, he said, “But how would we get the portal to stay, uh, there?”
Kelly closed the robe up again, and sat back to think about that. “Could we work it into my top? Sort of like those bikinis that have a ring in the middle to hold the cups together?”
Steve shook himself, and looked off into the distance as he thought. “Can’t just sew it in, as it doesn’t loop back on itself... or... no it might work. Do you have a sewing kit?”
“Not here. I’ve got lots of sewing stuff back at my place, though, and thread to match the top I want to use. Let’s finish breakfast, then we can go over to my apartment to fetch it. Eeee, we could make our first prop!”
A little later, Kelly emerged from the bedroom with a confused look on her face. “Do my clothes look... loose to you?”
Steve nodded, then his eyes widened. “How tall are you supposed to be?”
“Five foot two, why?”
Steve used his tape measure to check her height. “And... now you’re four foot nine... and a quarter.”
“What? How is that... oh, right. The portals.”
“You must have gone the same way through both times. I’d assumed you thought to go the other way through the portals when you did your fancy appearance.”
“I was too excited. Plus, this is kind of cool.” Kelly leaned against Steve, looking up into his eyes. “You look bigger than Barry to me. And it would explain why he felt bigger last night. Mmmm, I’m definitely doing this again.”
Steve took a step back, then looked for the portals they’d used for the improvised magic show the previous night. He held them up, back to back, and Kelly stepped through them, resting a hand on the edge so she could quickly pivot around and go through again before Steve could stop her.
“Kelly! You went the wrong way...”
Kelly giggled and looked way up at Steve. “Ooopsie. God, you’re big like this.”
“You did that on purpose!”
Kelly bit her lip cutely, and nodded. “Seeing you so big... Pick me up!”
Steve obligingly scooped her up and put her over his shoulder in a fireman’s carry. “Wow. You’re no heavier than my ten year old niece.”
Kelly squealed and giggled as Steve carried her to the bathroom and set her on the scale. “Seventy-two pounds? Wow. Talk about a weight-loss program,” she marveled.
“You don’t need to lose any weight. You’re perfect as you are. Were. At normal size, I mean...”
“Aww, Steve, you say the sweetest things.”
“Come on, let’s just get you back to normal, okay?”
Kelly held her arms up to Steve and he scooped her up again. There was more giggling, especially as her blouse wasn’t exactly staying in place. Steve got a good look at her exposed breast as he set Kelly back on the couch.
“Do I have to go back?”
“If you want to fit into your clothes, or your shoes.”
Kelly heaved a reluctant sigh. “I suppose. So I go into the bigger portal, right?”
Steve just glared at her, but then he broke out into a grin that matched hers. “If you want to end up under three feet tall, we could just pair this one up with one half its size.”
“Promise?” asked Kelly hopefully. Steve nodded. She hopped up off the couch. “OK, let’s put me back to normal. Baggy clothes are so not my style.”
Four quick turns through the portals later, Kelly was normal size, but her clothes were still baggy. So right there in front of Steve she stripped them off, and pushed them through the portals. She was just gathering them for another go-round when Barry emerged from the bedroom. While his expression was haggard and tired, his wavy blonde hair was perfect.
Steve stuttered an apologetic, “It’s not what it looks like.”
Barry looked over at them, and shrugged. “Looks like Kelly’s trying to put her clothes back to normal size.”
Kelly picked up her resized clothes and started getting dressed. “Then I guess it is what it looks like,” she said with a saucy grin.
Barry busied himself with coffee and breakfast. While Kelly got ready to go out, she encouraged Steve to shower and put on some fresh clothes.
Once Steve was ready to face the world, Kelly called out to Barry, “We’re going over to my place to get a sewing kit.”
Barry yawned, then took a long sip of coffee. “That’s nice. Have fun.”
“Wow,” whispered Steve. “He’s really out of it. How late did you keep him up?”
Kelly just grinned. “Can we grab one of the big portals, too? It’d be handy to be able to pop over here instantly so we can rehearse.”
Steve nodded, and went over his list. “Here we go. The 60-plus inch one should pair nicely, leaving you 4% smaller when you visit. Almost an exact match with the Disembodied Princess pair, you’d barely notice the difference if you hopped through it once you got here.”
“Aww. I wanted to visit while small.”
“You still can. But to fit out the props we need you the right size.”
Steve picked up the portal, and found its mate by looking for his tiny fingers sticking out of it. He set the latter on the kitchen table, then headed out the door behind Kelly.
At Kelly’s place, they put the portal in the back of her closet. Steve pointed out that they didn’t really need to hide it, but Kelly wanted to have a magic wardrobe, just like in the Narnia books. She hopped through the portal before Steve could stop her, so he sighed and followed her through.
Kelly was staring at the enormous space around her, and clutched Steve’s hand when he offered it. “What is going on, Steve? Where is this?”
“Our kitchen table, back at the apartment. I picked out the other end of this portal, but figured I’d find its pair later.”
There was a sound like rolling thunder, and Kelly squeaked in alarm. They looked toward the source of the sound, and saw Barry walking into the room. He was the size of a skyscraper, and the speed with which he moved was shocking. As he walked toward the table, Steve dragged Kelly back into the portal and her closet beyond.
Kelly hugged him tight. “God, that was...”
“Terrifying?” supplied Steve.
“Awe-inspiring.”
Steve laughed softly. “You’re going to do that again, aren’t you?”
Kelly’s eyes were shining. “Yeah. But only with someone who knows I’m there. We were so vulnerable like that, a careless gesture could have...” She shivered.
“Yeah, that was crazy. We can’t do that again without the other person being aware.”
Kelly grinned at him. “You felt it too.”
Steve grinned back. “Except I imagined it was you as the towering giantess.”
Kelly went up on tiptoes and kissed Steve hard on the lips. Before he could really get into it, he pulled away from her.
“What’s wrong?”
“You’re Barry’s girlfriend.” Steve looked away from her. “I can’t do this to him.”
Kelly sighed. “This is one of those guy things, isn’t it?”
Steve nodded reluctantly. “Come on, let’s get that sewing kit and the top you want to use for the Impalement trick.”
Kelly stayed at her apartment while Steve went back to his. Once he’d paired the portal exits, he called her, and she popped right through as if she’d been waiting in the closet.
“Cool! This will be so handy.”
Barry looked at her in surprise, then back to the portal she’d emerged from. “You have a portal to your place? Whose idea was that?”
Kelly grinned. “Mine. So I can pop over whenever to... rehearse.” In the face of Barry’s frown, her grin faltered. “We need to rehearse to get the act ready, right?”
“Right. I guess I better line up a venue. How long before the props are ready?”
“We’ll have one ready today,” chirped Kelly. “I just need to sew some portals into this top.”
“The Princess will take the longest. I have the plans, and if I pull a few late nights in the shop at work I should be able to get it done by next weekend.”
“Really?” asked Kelly, bouncing with excitement. “Oh, I can’t wait to see it.”
Steve chuckled at Kelly’s exuberance. Barry just snorted. “So we can start rehearsals next weekend. Think we can put an amateur-night show together in a week or two?”
“Maybe,” said Steve. “You’re a showman at heart, with these props and Kelly’s enthusiasm I bet you could improvise your way through a ten minute routine. Some good flash powder, the old linking rings, some handheld stuff. The hardest part will be the costume changes.”
“Costume changes?” asked Kelly.
“Yeah. The portals won’t go through each other. It’d be handy if they did, we could make them any size. But no. So your Impalement top won’t work for the appear, or the basket, or the Disembodied Princess. What order do you want to do all those?”
“We should finish with the Princess, and have her vanish out of it,” said Barry. “That’s the way to end the show, with a puff of smoke and a vanish in front of the crowd. Drop the lower ring while the smoke is billowing, and she’s gone.”
Kelly clapped excitedly. “This will be so cool!”
Steve nodded. “And it makes sense to do Impalement just before that, as it’s the same prop. So we’ll need a pair of portals for the appear, one for a nice small basket, the two for the Disembodied Princess – we’ve already picked those out – and two for the Impalement top.”
Kelly held up the sparkly silver top she’d been carrying. “This top! Can we add the portals to it now? I want to be impaled.”
“Sure. Do you want to make it at this size, or your normal size? Remember, it can’t go through the portals once you’re done.”
Kelly giggled. “I forgot I was down a few inches. I like being this size, let’s go with it.”
Kelly broke out her sewing kit and threaded a needle while Steve picked out two portals to use. One had one of the smallest exits, the other’s exit was twice its size, about one and a half inches across. He suggested she put the larger one in back so it would be an easier target with the spike.
Kelly nodded, lined the portal up, and started to sew. But when her needle went into the portal, she got confused. “Um... where’d it go?”
As she asked the question there was a splintering sound from the other end of the room. Steve pointed to where a three foot long metal harpoon was embedded in the table. “There.”
Kelly stared at it with wide eyes. “Uh... oops?”
Steve pulled it free, and carefully worked it around the edge of the portal. When he plunged it into the other side, trailing thread, it poked into Kelly’s top. She pulled it through, and started another round. “Stand clear. I’ll try to go slower.”
With care from Kelly and some heavy lifting from Steve, the stitches were finally done. Each one looped through the portal twice, leaving the big end with many turns of heavy silvery rope decorating its edge.
“Could you use a smaller needle for the other one?” asked Steve.
“Sure. I’ll just need a hand threading it.”
Steve grinned at an idea, and got her to poke the eye of the needle and the end of the thread through the portal. It was a simple matter to thread an eye the size of his fist, even if the thread was like a rope.
He was still holding on to the needle and marvelling at it when Kelly pulled it back through. He tumbled halfway through the portal and into her lap. To his eyes, she was over a hundred feet tall, and he stared up at her in awe and wonder. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from a breast that was larger than he was.
Kelly carefully leaned forward, peering at the little half-man in her lap. “Wow,” she breathed. “You’re so tiny.”
Steve scrambled backward as Kelly’s enormous face approached him, emerging from the other side of the portal and sprawling onto the floor with a thump.
Kelly looked over at Steve with concern. “Are you OK? You looked happy there at first.”
“Yeah. Then a face the size of a van came racing at me.”
Kelly giggled. “Oh. So if I’d moved more slowly, you wouldn’t have run away?”
“Maybe. But there was also this mouth big enough to eat me in a single bite...”
“So you just want the giant boobs without the giant head? Tricky.”
Steve laughed. “But not impossible. Just need to find the right set of portals...”
“Speaking of which, I’ve got sewing to do.” The smaller needle did prove helpful, Steve was able to handle the big end of the project without quite so much straining and grunting. Soon, a second large portal was decorated with silver ropes around its edge. This one was about half the size of the one they’d worked on first.
Once she was done, Kelly stripped down, and shimmied into the new top. Steve tried to look away, but his eyes were irresistibly drawn to the breasts that had loomed so large above him. He imagined them similarly naked and filling up his sky.
Kelly gave him a little poke after she was finished. “Enjoy the show?”
Barry cleared his throat. “If you two are quite done?” Steve looked at him guiltily, but Kelly just grinned. Barry sighed. “I’ve been calling around, and there’s a club not far from here that does amateur talent shows every Saturday. Their stage is pretty small, but our only big prop is the Princess, so we should be fine.”
Kelly bounced over to Barry and gave him a big hug that he didn’t reciprocate. “This will be so cool! If we have the props ready by next weekend, do you think we can try then?”
“The sooner the better,” muttered Barry.
Steve looked at Barry curiously, then shrugged. “I guess I can have it ready by mid-week if I don’t do anything but work, build the prop, and sleep.”
“I’ll come over and cook dinner every night,” offered Kelly.
“I won’t get in until late...”
Kelly pointed to the portal to her place. “I can pop over any time, now. This will be great!”
“Yeah, great.” Barry sounded less than convinced.
“Never mind that. Time to try out the Impalement top!”
Of course, the problem was finding something to impale her with. Barry’s rapiers were too thin to be ‘properly impressive’, and his broadsword wouldn’t fit. Neither would the broomstick, which failed on both accounts. Steve suggested a pin from her sewing kit, grown large by a pass through one of the portals.
Everyone stared at the wicked looking spike that resulted. Barry’s expression was cold and calculating, while Kelly’s was one of alarm.
“Maybe we should blunt the tip a little,” said Steve. He passed the pin back through the portal, and set it into Kelly’s hand. He brushed her palm briefly with tiny fingertips, which made her shudder and stare.
Once Steve’s hand retreated, Kelly quickly busied herself with an emery board. She poked the pin out through the portal a few times until Steve agreed it was suitably blunted. It still had a point, but it no longer looked like one slip would impale Kelly for real.
Steve handed the re-grown pin to Barry. “You’re the showman, you should do the honours. I’ll hold the portals next to each other so the pin goes through. Give me a moment to set up.”
Steve waved his hand through each of the cord-wrapped portals to find out which sides faced out. Kelly giggled when a little hand waved up at her from between her breasts. Steve set the portals up next to each other, and called out, “Ready!”
Kelly stood up, her back to Barry. He lined up the spike carefully, and rested it against the silver disc on Kelly’s back. “That’s not hurting you, is it?” he asked.
Kelly shook her head. “Can’t even feel it. Go for it!”
Barry thrust the spike forward, and there was a resounding crash from the other end of the room. They spun to look at the source of the noise. A metal spike the size of a telephone pole was lying where the kitchen table had been. The table itself had been broken into kindling, and the spike had carried on through the wall and into Steve’s bedroom.
“Oh, crap. The table!”
Kelly stared in horror. “Where’s Steve?”
Something wriggled against her back, then Steve popped out of the larger portal. “Sorry about... oh crap. My room! Nevermind my room, where’s my laptop? It was on the table...” He dug into the rubble, and soon turned up the laptop. It hadn’t suffered more than a few scratches from the splintering wood of the table.
“All this mess, and you’re worried about that antique?” snorted Barry.
“The only copy of the plans for the Disembodied Princess is on here.”
Kelly rushed over to see that it was OK. Barry was still holding the spike, and her departure pulled it out of the back of her top. The giant steel pole in the middle of the room grated along the floor and disappeared back into the portal, causing everyone to jump in alarm once more.
“We’re going to have the super up here in a bit. We need to cover up this mess.”
“How?” asked Steve. “There’s a huge hole in the wall. The table we can blame on... a rehearsal gone wrong.”
“Which is true enough,” agreed Barry. “We just need to cover the hole, quickly.”
“What about the couch?” asked Kelly. “Say you decided to redecorate a bit.”
They quickly moved the table wreckage into a pile, then shifted the couch over to the wall. It was only after the couch was in place that Kelly pointed out that they could have moved it more easily if they’d shrunk it through a portal first.
Barry shook his head. “I think we’ve had enough portal chaos tonight.”
Sure enough, the building superintendent came by, and was placated by Barry’s charming tale of woe. By the time Barry was done, the super was apologizing to them for the inconvenience.
Kelly stayed to cook dinner, and the three of them shared a quiet but delicious meal. Steve complimented her on her cooking, but had to beg off afterward to get an early night’s sleep. “Monday’s going to be rough. I’ll see if I can make something to help with the impale, too.”
“You still want to try that?” asked Barry, incredulously.
“With a strong enough frame to hold the portals, sure.”
Barry just shook his head, but Kelly grinned, and gave Steve a kiss on the cheek. “Sweet dreams.”
Kelly used her portal to go home not long after that.
Monday night Kelly popped over via the portal shortly after Barry got home from work. She had a bag full of groceries in her arms, that she passed through the Disembodied Princess portals to restore to normal size. She stayed small, herself.
Barry watched her cook, glowering. “Are you going to do this every night?”
Kelly sighed, and turned to face him. She crossed her arms over her chest, a gesture that at her size looked more adorable than severe. “What is up with you, anyway?”
“First, I’m not a long term relationship guy. You’re already a week past the average.” He stepped up next to her, and looked down on the top of her head. “And you’re too small.”
“That can be fixed. You seemed to enjoy it the other night, though.”
That got Barry to crack a grin, but only for a moment. “Yeah. Then at the end... you called out Steve’s name.”
Kelly’s eyes widened. “Oh! But we’ve never... Hell, I made a pretty blatant pass at him earlier, and he turned me down flat. He’d never do that to you.”
“I know. That makes it...” Barry sighed. “Well, there we are.”
Kelly sighed. “I guess. Are we still going to do the show? You seemed keen enough on that.”
“One show.”
Kelly turned back to the food, quickly stirring the sauce so it didn’t burn. “I see. Well, at least I’ll have that. Thank you.”
They didn’t say anything else to each other for the rest of the night. Barry went to bed, but Kelly waited up for Steve, and when he slouched in through the door, looking exhausted, she greeted him with a hug and a reheated plate of pasta.
Steve ate gratefully, then gave Kelly a hug by the portal to her place. “Thanks. You’re the best.”
Kelly muttered, “I’m glad someone here thinks so,” then ducked through the portal and was gone.
