Moonstone - Chapter 19
---------
As Donna left the Blue Vixen, the Moon emerged from the clouds.  She could feel its power, and almost instinctively turned toward it.  Lifting her gaze, Donna smiled up at the Moon.  "Thanks," she whispered to it, before the Moon-trance took her.

This time when confronted with images of her male and female selves, Donna/Duncan embraced both of them, rejecting neither.  Zie stepped back to consider what to change, keeping both in view.  Cat-ears were added briefly, but rejected, as were the cat eyes.  Zie didn't want to step on Ana's toes.

Cat-paws for feet might have been fun on stage, but finding shoes would be a nightmare.  The strength of zir wild form was the best part, Duncan/Donna decided, and both images grew more toned.  Duncan bulked up more than Donna - she had to keep her dancer's looks...

Before Donna could think of something else to change, she heard crying within the trance.  She couldn't see anyone, but she could sense that Zoey was nearby.

Breaking out of the trance, Donna turned to see Zoey standing beside her, staring fascinated at the Moon.  After a few heartbeats a soft glow surrounded the younger girl, then faded.  Zoey collapsed against Donna, sobbing.

"Shh, hush now.  It's okay.  It was just a dream, if a very real one.  Let's get you inside and see."  Donna drew Zoey back to to the employee entrance, and thence into the green room.

"Oh Donna," Zoey sobbed, "it was terrible.  I was stuck like this for a month.  At first it was kinda fun, but..."

"Hm?" Donna prompted, as she helped Zoey out of her jacket.

"I got sick of the pitying looks.  The novelty wore off pretty fast then..."  She looked down.  "It's... gone?"

Donna nodded.  "That can happen if you look at the full Moon, while changed."

"It takes the changes away?  All of them?"

Donna looked her over appraisingly.  "Hm.  Back to your old size, too.  Yes."

Zoey hugged her chest tightly.  "My boobs are back!  Oh, I missed you."

Kate came up to them.  "Oh good, she found you.  You left without your tips."  She held a bundle of bills out to Donna.

"Thanks.  This is just yours?"

Kate nodded.  "I had an amazing night.  Even after tipping you, I'm ahead."

Zoey dug in her purse.  "Oh right.  With everything, I almost forgot."

Donna put a hand on Zoey's.  "If you're staying normal, no tip."

Zoey didn't even hesitate in handing over her share.

Donna set the Moonstone's box up in the dressing room once more.  "You know the drill.  Kate, did you want to go back to the usual number of breasts?"

Kate nodded, reluctantly.  "I can't find any comfortable way to wear two bras."

"Maybe a strapless bra..."

"Hey yeah, that'd work. I'll find a couple for next month.  Maybe a B and a D?  Hm."

Over the next minute, Zoey's breasts blossomed out to their previous enhanced proportions.  She watched the transformation in as much awe as she had her first one.  Kate took somewhat longer, pouting a little as her two extra breasts melted away.  Once both were done, Donna packed the box up again.  "There's no point in asking Ana if she wants to change back, is there?"

"Hell no!" was the distant reply.

Donna laughed.  "She has good ears, that one."

Ana bounced into the room and hugged Donna enthusiastically.  "Yup!  Thank you so much!"

Donna couldn't help but grin.  "You're welcome.  Don't forget to wear a hat, or the magic won't let you out the door."

Ana held up a knitted toque.  "All set."

"See you in the New Year," Donna called out as she left.

Duncan spent the next day male, so he could spend New Year's Eve with his family.  They just had a quiet little party this year, unlike in the past.  It was hard to throw a party with the kids around.  Their financial position made restraint logical, too.

The following day saw Duncan catching up on various chores and cleanup around the house.  He was amazed how much easier physical tasks were with his new muscles.  Sidney gave him more than a few admiring looks as he showed off.  That made her even more than usually disappointed to see Donna emerge from their bedroom after dinner.  "Already?  I'd hoped for a few more days considering how much you made two nights ago."

Donna sighed.  "Have you seen what our credit card bill is going to be this month?  Fridays and Saturdays are the best nights, I'll take Sunday and Monday off, okay?"

Sidney brightened.  "Really?"

Donna nodded.  "Lots of charge on the Moonstone, so I can change back more this month."

"Yay!"  Sidney hugged Donna warmly.

The atmosphere at the Blue Vixen was charged, and the place was packed.

"Is it always this busy on New Year's Day?" Donna asked a still grinning Ana.

"No.  It is Friday, and lots of guys do want to get away from family for a bit... but this is something else.  They've heard rumours about Hannah, Kate and Zoey."

"Rumors?"

"Well, rampant speculation on the forums."

"Wait, we have forums?"

Ana nodded.  "The owner's a total techie, we've got a website with the works.  There's even a quiet little topic discussing my change.   Though it's in oddly oblique terms."   Anna grinned as she reached up and touched one of her ears.

Donna still felt that they looked more like fuzzy elf ears, but didn't say that.  Instead she noted, "Probably what I call 'magic censorship' at play.  How have you been finding it, going out in public with your ears like that?"

Ana shrugged.  "Fine, as long as I wear a hat.  I bought a cute beret yesterday."

Donna grinned.  "I'll have to see that, after."

Ana waved, and bounced off to get the dancers organized for the next few sets.

"Hey tiny!" called Kate from behind Donna.

Donna turned around, coming chest to chest with her friend.  The difference in cup size wasn't large, but it was obvious that Kate now had an edge over Donna.

"Ha, ha.  It's just one cup."  Donna leaned in to add in a whisper, "And it's only for a week."

Kate just laughed.  "I'm glad.  None of my clothes fit.  I've stretched the heck out a few of my t-shirts just to have something to wear.  I don't think they'll ever be the same," Kate moaned in mock dismay.

"Still raking in enough to pay for new tops?"

"And then some!"  Kate took a step back to look at Donna. "Hey, that's a new top.  Where'd you get it?"

"I made it."

"Cool.  I didn't know you could sew.  How'd you find fabric like that?  It's so black, and the silver sparkles make it look like you're wearing a patch of the night sky."

"I had some charge that night after running into the Moon on the way out.  So I changed a few old T-shirts into new tops.  I could only do two before running out again."

"Really?  So you can make custom clothes?  Hey, if I brought in some spare shirts next time, could you grow them to fit?"

Donna nodded.  "As long as I'm not making new performance outfits.  I promised Pauline I wouldn't poach."

"Oh.  But would you consider growing existing ones?  That way I can have more variety for the big week."

"Sure, that seems reasonable.  And they should shrink back as you do, too."

"Great!"  Kate hugged Donna,. then headed up to the stage.

As the evening progressed, Donna made good use of her enhanced muscles, adding huge leaps to her performance.  She was pretty sure she wasn't being any less intimidating by doing so, and found she didn't really care.  She was having fun, and the tips were good.  Not great, as there was more competition in the chest department...

Donna spent her down-time out on the floor for once, mostly watching Hannah work the crowd.  Kate was right, Hannah was a master at this.  She chatted easily with every customer she came across... and they all seemed happy to see her.  Lap dances at the booths at the back fof the club were a pretty frequent result.  More than once, Donna saw Roan approach the fiery-haired dancer and hand her something, after which Hannah would disappear for a while.

Donna approached Rowan about it later that night.  Rowan explained that all the private room rentals went through her, and she passed the requests on to the girls.  There were request slips at the bar, anyone could fill one out fairly anonymously.  Rowan would judge which ones were a good fit for which girl, and pass them on.  The girls could choose to accept or not... though given how much their share of a room rental was, most accepted.

"And nobody ever asks for me?"  Donna inquired.

Rowan shook her head.  "There were a few your first week, but you weren't ready for it."  Before Donna could ask, she carried on.  "I think you're ready now.  But you're not very approachable."

Donna sighed.  "I know.  But I am who I am."

"That's no excuse not to go out there and make an effort.  You're up in a few minutes.  This time, go out into the crowd afterward, instead of hiding back here."

Donna did just that.  She didn't worry about names, she just went out and smiled at anyone who would meet her eyes.  And at the ones who stared at her chest.  Some would smile back, a few blushed so very cutely.  Donna struck up conversations with several of the latter, amused.  Some blushed worse, and ducked away.  Others opened up to her, talking her ear off.  By the end of the night, she'd even done a lap dance for one.  The booth cramped her style, but the guy seemed to have fun even so.

Even with the boost from a lap dance, Donna's tips were a little disappointing for a Friday night.

Saturday was a repeat of Friday, except Donna wore her other new top... but only long enough to show Kate.

"Giant yellow smiley faces?  What were you thinking?" Kate giggled.

"It just sort of... happened.  I was using an old pair of underwear I'd been given as a joke, and the smiley faces on it just sort of... stayed."  Donna laughed.  "It amuses me.  But I'm not sure it'll play out there."

Kate shook her head. "Maybe later, when they're all drunk..."

"Maybe."

Duncan spent the next few days male.  There just wasn't any point competing against Hannah and Kate.  Sidney and the kids were happy to see him home.

Duncan dug through his job hunting files on the third day, rewrote his resume again, and got cracking on the job hunt once more.  He'd let it slip in December as it had looked like dancing would bring in enough money, and all of her energy was focused on dancing well.

Looking through the listings was still disheartening.  Not much out there for someone as specialized as he'd become, and he figured his PhD was scaring off potential employers who were looking for someone to train up.  Still, the number of recent additions to the lists were growing, so there was reason to hope...

The day after the Moon reached its last quarter, Donna headed back to the Blue Vixen.  Her competition would be deflating, and hopefully the tips would get a bit better.  Even if not, Fridays were always busy.

Kate met Donna at the door, and Donna couldn't help but giggle a bit.  Her bra was noticeably loose.

"Don't laugh!  What am I supposed to do?  I don't have any tops that fit!"

Donna covered her mouth, and nodded.  "Hm.  You're pretty close to my cup size.  Maybe if you borrowed on of mine and tightened up the band?"

"Could I?  Oh, you're a lifesaver.  How long am I going to be dealing with this?"

"Tomorrow you'll be about halfway between, and the next night you should be back to your old size."  Donna handed Kate her flame-patterned bra.  "See how this fits."

After some adjusting, Kate bounced in place to settle the bra.  "It's not perfect, but it'll do for tonight.  Thanks!"

Donna grinned. "You're welcome.  You look hot!"

Kate chuckled.

Zoey had gone for a somewhat smaller upgrade, so she still fit her bra passably.  She seemed to be taking it well, joking with Kate and Donna about bicycle pumps and balloons.

Hannah didn't talk to Donna the entire night.  Donna didn't mind, but she wondered what the redhead would be like the next night, when all the changes were half-way back to normal.  With that thought in mind, Donna looked around for Ana, but didn't find her.

Saturday, as Donna entered the green room, she could hear Hannah's voice raised in strident complaint.  "This is the best you could come up with?"

Rowan said something placating and Donna tried not to laugh.  Hannah had some kind of gauzy fabric wrapped inexpertly around her chest.  As she watched, part of it fell off.

Donna sidled over to Kate, who was watching the proceedings with just as much amusement.  "What's the deal... oh, I see you're wearing them too."  Somehow on Kate they looked better.

Kate nodded.  "Dancing veils.  If you're the sort of person who'll let someone else tie them on, they can look pretty good.  Hard to take off on stage, though."

Donna nodded, musing, "What if you just sort of tucked them tightly?"

"They'd fall off - you'd dance right out of... hey, that's brilliant.  Can you try that on mine?"

Donna nodded.  "Sure.  If you'll do the same for me."  She started to work on the knots of Kate's silks.

"But you have bras that fit," Kate pointed out.

"Maybe it'll mollify Hannah if I wear silks too.  Plus, it looks like fun.  I want to give it a try.  We can start a trend."

Kate laughed.  "Probably not."

Donna found the silks were a bit tricky to manage at first - the first set she lost both layers before her first song was half over.  The crowd seemed to like it, though.

As the night went on, Donna and Kate both got better at wrapping the silks for each other, and controlling how long they'd stay on.  Several of the of the other dancers tried out the silks for a set or two, but none stuck with it long enough to get the same effect.

Hannah didn't have that choice.  She didn't talk to Donna at all, but she did stop staring daggers at her, so Donna called it a win.

By the end of the night, Donna was proficient with the silks.  She even went out with seven, one time - five in layers on her chest, two in her hands for dancing with.  She was pretty sure nobody in the audience would get the reference, but had fun anyway.

To her surprise, on of her blushing admirers complimented her on her dance of the seven veils.  She gave him one of the silks as a memento, then had to reimburse Rowan for it.  She still thought it was worthwhile, the silks weren't expensive.

The next week, things went slowly back to normal.  Donna's tips improved.  Hannah was no more surly than usual to her.  Ana showed up again, without her fuzzy ears, and looking like a bedraggled, lost puppy.

Donna couldn't help but worry.  Eventually she found a chance to chat with Ana alone, and ask how she was doing.

Ana just looked at her with tears welling in the corners of her eyes.  "The thing I most wanted in the world...  I had just a glimpse of it, and then it just... faded away."

"Oh sweetie.  I had no idea it meant that much to you. I promise, I'll give you ears again next full Moon.  That's less than three weeks away, now."

"Really?"

"Yeah, practically everyone's already lining up for boob jobs.  The Moonstone might just become a monthly thing, here.  You can have your ears every month, for a week."

"Just ears?"

Donna shrugged.  "Not necessarily just ears.  Why, what do you want?"

Ana looked around the dressing room, and hugged herself tightly before answering in a tiny voice, "I want to be like you were.  Half-cat, at least.  Can you do that?"

"I promise."

Ana sprang at Donna swiftly enough that she eeped in surprise, and hugged her fiercely.  "Thank you!"

The rest of the week was much less eventful.  Duncan spent time at home with the kids, quite a bit of it in male form, switching back and forth on the nights when it would be profitable to dance.

As the new Moon approached, Duncan noticed two things.  First, he didn't seem to 'drift' back to Donna's form when Duncan, or to Duncan when Donna.  He figured the Moon had allowed him two stable forms, which was handy.  Unfortunately, changing between them was not only taking longer and longer, but it also seemed to drain the Moonstone more as the day of the new Moon drew nearer.

Donna spent the weekend of the new Moon female, to Sidney's disappointment.  Pointing out that not changing now meant that she could change back more the next week helped a bit.

As a result of Duncan's near daily swaps with Donna in the weeks before the full Moon, the Moonstone was very week by the time the night of the full Moon came around.   On the plus side, Duncan had spent lots of time with his kids, and he'd hand-delivered a half dozen carefully crafted job applications.

The night of the full Moon arrived, and it was pouring with rain.  Donna frantically checked the weather forecast, and not only was it going to rain all night, it was going to rain for the next four days solid.  There was no chance of even the slightest glimpse of the Moon.

Donna knew that every single dancer would be at the Blue Vixen that night.  She hoped the Moonstone had enough charge to change them all, but had her doubts.

At the club, Donna headed to Rowan first.  "Have you seen the weather out there?"

Rowan sighed, and nodded.  "You can't do it?"

Donna shook her head.  "There's enough for a few changes.  Not many.  We'll have to do it in batches."

Rowan nodded.  "Head off to the changing room and get set up.  I'll round up the usual suspects."

Donna laughed when she saw the new sign on the door.  Instead of 'Dressing Room #2', like it had been sine she arrived, the sign now said, 'Changing Room'.  Inside, the windows were unboarded, and had been treated somehow to give them a nice even frosted look.  When the Moon was out, the room would be perfect... a pity it wasn't going to be out.

Kate, Zoey, Liana and Hannah filed in, and put on their oversize bras - the same ones as last month.  Donna made sure that they were all divested of their silver before she opened the Moonstone's box, there was no time to spare on that mistake this month.  She carefully watched Kate's breasts, enjoying the sight of them expanding in the light of the Moonstone.  Once she was sure Kate was full size, she flipped the box shut again.

Kate grinned, and bounced in place.  "Yay!  My babies are back!"

Donna laughed.  "Go send the next batch in."

Donna knew most of the next group of four by name.  Jenny was a curvy brunette that liked to wear bright green contact lenses.  She was going from a C to an F according to Pauline's manifest.  Donna often got Neysa and Nissa confused, but the names were similar enough she could get away with it. One was an olive-skinned, dark-haired girl with lots of bellydancing experience.  The other was a tall, blonde Scandinavian who towered over Kate and Donna easily.  She'd picked an imposing looking bra, and Donna knew she was going to have another rough month.

Donna thought the fourth girl's name was I-something - she wasn't on the manifest.  "Hi, Isa.  You do know about the clothing thing, right?"

The dark-haired, pale skinned girl sighed.  "It's Isolde, actually.  And... yeah.  Will this do?"  She held up a blood-red corset that looked three sizes too big up top, and three sizes too small in the waist.

Donna nodded.  "That's gorgeous.  Where'd you get it?"

Isolde's inky lips curved into a tiny smile.  "I made it."

"Very nice.  Um, do you need help getting into it?"

"I could use a hand getting the laces tightened, yeah."  Donna watched as Isa expertly wriggled her way into the corset, and marvelled at the engineering that went into the laces in the back.  "Pull it as tight as you can."

"Really?"  Donna worked the laces carefully at first, not wanting to damage them, or Isa.

"Yes!  I can take way more than that.  Don't be a wimp."

Donna laughed.  "Okay, you asked for it."  She started putting a little muscle into pulling the lacings tight.  Isa forced a breath out through clenched teeth.  "Are you OK?"

"Yes," Isolde said, tightly.  "I love this.  More!"

Donna pulled harder, putting her Moon-given muscles to the test.  Isa just kept asking for more, until the lacing-holes nearly overlapped and the laces would pull no further.  Donna marvelled at the girl, it looked terribly uncomfortable.  Isolde grinned in thanks, though her breathing seemed shallow enough that saying much might be hard.

"OK.  Now that everybody's in their new outfits...  Right, rings.  If you're wearing any silver, it has to come off.  Rowan will take care of anything valuable, if you..."  Donna looked around.  Nobody was taking off any rings or bangles.  "Right.  You all know the drill, then."

"Rumours spread fast around here," either Neysa or Nissa quipped.

Donna laughed.  "True enough."  She opened the box.  As she watched, four dancers blossomed.  It was hard to decide who to stare at.  They were all so amazed at what was happening, nobody noticed Donna's gaze.  Well, except Rowan, and she didn't seem inclined to say anything.

Isolde got most of Donna's attention.  The girl looked positively alarmed.  That, and there was something about her canines...  Then the changes slowed down, sputtering to a stop.  Donna looked at the Moonstone's box, and sighed.  "That's it for tonight, I'm afraid.  I hope you all got close to the size you wanted to be."

Everyone started checking themselves out in the mirror, and nobody seemed to be to upset.  They were all pretty close to their desired sizes, and their outfits all fit well enough.  Most of them filed out, and Donna could hear Rowan giving the bad news outside the room, met by a chorus of disappointment from the dancers who hadn't yet changed.

Isolde was still staring at herself in the mirror.  Donna stood beside her, and looked the girl's reflection over.  "Your teeth seem a bit... longer.  What did you make the corset for?"

"Um... this will seem a bit silly."

"Try me.  I've just given eight girls instant boob jobs, I'm not easily weirded out."

"It was for a Vampire live-action role-playing thing.  But it worked out so well, and..."

Donna nodded.  "That explains the teeth, then.  I'm glad you only got a partial dose."

Isolde looked at her reflection, grinning toothily.  "How far could it have gone?"

"I'm not sure I want to know.  You're not feeling any urges to drink blood, are you?"

Isolde shook her head.  "Ew."

"Go.  Dance.  Enjoy your new chest."

Isolde patted her middle.  "And my new waistline.  I can't believe I'm comfortable in this.  It's almost disappointing, except it looks awesome."

Donna only got a moment's peace before Ana moped into the room.  "Is it true," the bedraggled looking dancer whispered.  "You're... out?"

Donna showed the Moonstone to Ana.  "Completely."

Ana heaves a mournful sigh.  "And there's no hope of a recharge?"

"The weather isn't going to change."

"That wasn't a no," Ana pointed out.

Donna licked her lips uncertainly.  "There might be a way.  There was another time I managed to sort of... draw the Moon's power to me."

"Please?"  Ana begged.

"It... is not as simple as that.  Drawing on the Moon isn't something to be done lightly."

"I don't care," Ana whispered.  "Don't you see?"

"It changed me last time.  Strengthened the Moon's hold on me."

"Is that bad?"

Donna thought about that for a very long time.

"Please?"  Ana begged once more.  "You promised."

"Fine.  Just... not now.  The Moon will be at its very fullest in a few hours, and highest in the sky at midnight.  It will be easiest then, I think.  You can wait until midnight, can't you?"

Ana waited.  Very very impatiently, following Donna with her eyes as if afraid to lose her, but she waited.

Donna danced a few times, but her heart wasn't in it.  Besides, she was practically outnumbered, it seemed like half the dancers had breasts as big as hers now.  Nobody was looking at her.  It started to get to her, a little.

At midnight, Ana practically dragged Donna back into the 'Changing Room'.  Donna closed the door behind them, wanting privacy.

"OK.  You're not wearing any silver, are you?  We'll only get one shot at this."

Ana shook her head.  "Haven't touched it since last month."

"And you're sure you want to be half-cat all over?  You won't be able to go outside unless you really cover up."

"More than anything I've ever wanted.  I'll manage."

"Hold my hand."  Ana did so.  "Look up there, out the window, where the Moon is.  Try to see it through the clouds."

"I don't see anything," Ana said after a few moments.

"Shh.  Just... be open to it."

Donna closed her eyes, visualized the Moon in all its glory, and tugged on her connection to the Moon.  The response was swift and overwhelming - she dropped straight into Moon-trance, suffused by the Moon's power.

It took Donna a few moments to gain her bearings in the trance.  She could still feel the touch of Ana's hand, and that guided her to her goal.  Ana stood within the Moon's glow, and she could almost feel the cat inside the woman, yearning to be free.  Donna smiled at the confirmation about what she was here to do.

It took no time at all to bring forth her memory of how she looked, how she felt last month.  Ana's form rippled with golden fur, and black-backed ears rose grandly out of her sandy hair.  Hands and feet moulded into paws, and a tail snaked away from her spine.  Last, but not least, the face.  Here, Donna wanted a delicate touch.  A muzzle, but not such a dominant one that Ana's personality was lost.  Her nosed merged into the muzzle, broadening into a leathery pad.  Whiskers, naturally.  And then the crowning touch - eyes.  Brilliant gold, like a pond catching the fire of sunset.  Slitted, of course, for what good catgirl didn't have slitted eyes?

Donna stepped back from her handiwork, and saw that it was good.  She dropped easily out of the trance to find her paw still clasped in Ana's.  "Open your eyes," she rumbled.

Ana did, gasped, and stared at herself in the mirror.  She stepped slowly forward, transfixed, and reached out to touch her reflection.  "Is it... rreal?"  Her cigarette-graveled voice was even more rumbly than before.

"Yes."

Tears trickled from Ana's eyes, wetting the fur of her cheeks.  "Thank you."

"Sssh, sssh.  What's wrrong?"  Donna stepped forward, and took the cat-girl in her arms.

"Nothing!  It's everything I ever wanted."  She stared into the mirror, two catgirls looking back at her.  "We look like twins."

Donna shook her head.  "Morre like sisterrs in furr.  Yourr face is still yourrs.  Mine is still mine."

"But why arre you a cat-girl?"

Donna blinked a few times, then her eyes widened. "Oh no, not again..."  How was she going to explain this to her mate and cubs.  Kids.  Argh!
