Moonstone - Chapter 8
---------
Duncan sat and waited.  His wife was in post-Caesarian section surgery, his baby son in neonatal ICU for 'observation'. From the maternity ward he could hear babies crying, which made his breasts leak.

Eventually, all waits end.  Duncan was shown to the recovery room where his wife was resting, and before long they were both able to visit little Victor in the NICU.  Sidney was frustrated by her inability to hold her child for long, but they were reassured that he was doing very well.  It had one small advantage from Duncan's point of view - Sidney was  expected to pump her breasts and deliver the result to the NICU, so there was no risk of a nurse wandering in while he nursed...

By the end of the week they were all home again, with Duncan facing the lioness' share of the work.  Fortunately, he had enough leave time to take a second week off work, or he would have collapsed from exhaustion - Sidney had to spend most of her time resting up after her surgery.

On the plus side, without prying nurses or helpful grandparents about, Duncan was finally able to nurse his son with his Moonstone-granted breasts.  It was somewhat painful at first, but soon Victor and Duncan had figured things out.  Sidney helped as much as she could, but as before her milk never came in in useful quantities.  She tried to hide her disappointment when Victor made it clear that he preferred his father for nursing - he knew where the easy food was.  It helped that it meant that Duncan was the one handling the 2am (and 4am and 6am...) feedings.

Duncan was taking it much better - when the fog of exhaustion lifted enough for him to think about it, anyway.  Still, even in the wee hours of the morning he was able to find the experience of nursing his son to be the most inspiring, magical thing he'd ever done.

The next few months passed in a grey haze that matched the weather.  The rainy season was in full swing by the next time Duncan thought to look for the full Moon, so he didn't even have that to mark time.

Christmas came and went in a blur, but brought with it the greatest gift Duncan could have wished for - Victor started sleeping through the night.  Finally!

It took until February for Duncan to realize the software library he'd been working on for the last six months was pretty much hopelessly muddled.  It had already been behind schedule when his son was born, and now it was not on ly late, but in far worse shape than when he'd started.  Trying to decipher the logic behind his code from those grey months just gave him a headache, so he finally bit the bullet, scrapped all the changes, and started fresh.  Luckily the work was so complex that his bosses had long since given up any hope of understanding what Duncan was doing, and he was able to put off their occasional queries with practiced ease.  Heck, they'd even given him a raise at the start of the year.

Just as Duncan was finally getting used to a routine where he got to sleep through the night, a new disruption appeared on the horizon - Courtney's birthday.  Gifts to buy, wrap and (ugh) assemble.  A party to plan for, supplies to buy, and months of cleaning to catch up on.  The party itself was the usual bustle of activity - food to put out, drinks to fill, children to keep out of the cake...  Courtney had a great time, though, and that was the point, wasn't it?

Once the last guest was gone, the last paper plate tossed into the garbage, and both kids asleep in their beds, Duncan finally got a chance to sit back and relax.  Looking out into the first cloudless sky he'd seen in months, he saw the Moon for the first time sine the week before Victor's birth.  It looked almost full, so Duncan checked his schedule.  Three days past full.

"Figures," he sighed.

"What figures," asked Sidney, looking up from her book.

"I missed the full Moon by a couple days."

"So?"

Duncan thumped down on the couch beside her.  "Well, the Moonstone ran out of 'charge' months back.  I wanted to recharge it, but I need a full Moon."

Sidney sighed, and closed her book.  "You want to play with it again?" she asked, resignedly.

"That, too," Duncan conceded.  "But I was also thinking... Victor's eating solids now - if you can call that thin rice-gruel or strained peas solid..."

"And you're thinking it's time to wean him," Sidney finished for her husband.

"Yeah.  It won't be long until he starts teething, too."

"Ow."

"Don't get me wrong, nursing Victor has been an amazing experience.  I'm glad I did it."

"I hear a 'but'," Sidney prodded.

"Yeah.  If the weather holds, I think it's time to lose these," he said, cupping his chest.

"Good.  I've been looking forward to getting my husband back."

Duncan made a playfully indignant face.  "I've been here."

Sidney poked his chest, eliciting a slight wince.  "Sorry.  But you're not all husband, you see?"

Duncan blew a raspberry at her.  It was an old argument.  They both laughed.

"Next month."

Next month, the day of the full Moon was bright and clear.  Duncan set out that evening, Moonstone box in hand and... nothing.  In a panic, he went online to re-check his schedule.

"Argh!  The full moon was 7:10 am today."

"So?" came Sidney's calm reply.  "That means it's the day of the full moon... doesn't it?"

Duncan sighed.  "Yeah.  But it means last night was the night of the full moon.  It's not charging tonight, not even a bit."

"Ah."

"And Victor's teething now.  A tooth can't be far behind," Duncan almost whined.

"So wean him when it breaks through."

Duncan stared out the window at the not-full-enough Moon.  "I guess.  It seems a shame to have these breasts, and not use 'em."

"Better to taper him off than have him trying to find breasts that aren't there any more..."

Duncan chuckled.  "That would be a shock, wouldn't it?  As usual, you're right."

Sidney grinned back at her husband.  "And don't you forget it!"

So another month went by.  Victor's first two teeth showed up two days apart, and he accepted bottles with ill grace... but he got used to it quickly enough.  Duncan was glad that his wife could handle more of the feedings, finally.  He spent the scant free time this allowed him studying lunar tables, committing the exact time of the next year's full Moons to memory (after triple-checking his written schedule against multiple sources).  He even made a point of knowing where the moon was in the sky each day.  This time, there would be no surprises.

Friday night.  Full Moon night.  Duncan couldn't remember a day where the clock at work had moved so painfully slowly.  When he got home, he was a bit surprised that a little girl didn't run up to greet him.  "Sweetie, where's Courtney?"

"Sleepover at your parents' place.  I told you about it earlier in the week."

"Right!  I forgot.  I've been a bit... distracted, today."

Sidney grinned, and faked a leer at his chest.  "I can't possibly imagine why."

"Scamp.  You're looking forward to the full Moon as much as I am."

"More.  But first there's dinner, and a baby boy who needs some Daddy time."

For all the work-day had dragged on, Duncan's time with Victor practically flew by.  Soon enough, Victor was in his crib and sleeping.

"Moon's up," called Sidney.

Duncan wasted no time fetching the Moonstone's box and taking it outside to charge.  He was careful to avoid meeting the Moon's gaze until he could change back, though.  Instead he watched the Moonstone intently.  At first he despaired it would ever glow again, but mere seconds liter her fears were effaced by a flicker of blue-white across its surface.  He watched and waited until the Moonstone shone with a steady, constant glow before returning to the bedroom with magic in his hands.

It proved more difficult than he'd expected to change back.  The shirts he'd been wearing at work all seemed to 'remember' him with A-cup breasts, even when he wasn't wearing a bra.  He had to dig into the back of the closet for a shirt he hadn't worn in a few years before the Moonstone grudgingly removed the breasts it had given him.

When Duncan emerged from the bedroom, Sidney pounced on him.  Several minutes of intense kisses and no little amount of fondling later, Sidney broke the clutch.  She gave him a gentle push on the chest as she opened the bedroom door.  "Wait right here."

Duncan did as he was bid, puzzling over Sidney's reaction for a time.  Then he was curious about the faint moans that he thought he could hear from the other side of the door.  "Sid?  You OK in there?"

The door opened to reveal a blonde bombshell wearing nothing but a familiar hot pink 42J bra, and filling it out quite nicely.

"Sidney?"

"You're right, this body is quite the firecracker.  Get in here, stud."

Duncan didn't need to be asked twice.
