“Welcome back, Nora,” Kanada said with a big toothy grin. “And welcome to your friends! Come in, Motel Kanada awaits!”
The five all gathered in and he led them to the living room, offering them a seat on the large orange couch or one of the three big armchairs in the corner. He settled into an armchair and smiled. The four newcomers all sat, while Nora leaned on the arm of the couch. Once everyone was settled, he steepled his paws together and gave a hearty chuckle before sitting back and surveying them as he spoke.
“So has Nora explained what is happening here?” he said with a smirk.
“No,” said Alley. “She just said she had so much fun here when she last stayed she wanted to have a girl's weekend with us here.”
“Well, she did mention one thing,” Jenn said. “Her, uh, new addition,” She said.
Nora gave a sly smile and tugged into the back of her pants, and out came a large fuzzy orange tail, swishing around.
“She said you gave her the tail?” Said Sidney with a look of intrigue across her face.
“I certainly did. She wanted to take home a souvenir from her visit here, and I just couldn’t help myself but give her a beautiful Kanada tail like mine.
“I love it, although it does kind of stink” she giggled.
“We noticed.” Said Sidney with a laugh.
“So you magically gave her a tail?” asked Jenn
“Yes. Have any of you seen or heard of a Kanada before today?”
They all shook their heads.
“Ah, fresh to the idea of a cat like me! Wonderful” he said, clapping his paws together.
“I am a Kanada, which is also my name. It’s the name of every Kanada, actually” he said. “We are what you see before you, although you will find variants out there that style themselves a bit differently” He noted.
“And you do magic?” Jenn queried.
“Yep. Well, we have magic. Do magic sounds like I pull rabbits out of hats and guess cards.” he said with a chuckle. “We have magical stink”
“Magical…stink?” asked Emma.
“I am sure you noticed it smells quite a lot in here, like stinky farts and a little bit of rotten eggs I'd wager.”
They all nodded.
“And you will also notice that scent is not nearly as offensive as when you came in.” the cat stated and watched their faces as they realized that the smell was in fact, not so bad.
“That’s part of the magic. The more exposed to a Kanada you are, the less the smell will bother you and you might even find it becoming pleasant. But that’s not all. The stink allows me to manipulate reality and make magical transformations possible, like your friend's cute tail!”
“Gals, when I booked this place, I thought it was just a strange bed and breakfast, but when I got here, Kanada showed me what his magic can do, and well, we had an excellent time, and I knew I just had to share it with my friends.”
“What did you do?” Emma asked
“Well, she booked our most basic package, the same package she technically booked for all of you today, the Space Saver package. Since you can see this is just a small apartment, I need to make room for all my guests, and with that package, the way I make room is by shrinking the guests so they can rest comfortably even in a small place such as this.”
“Shrink?” Sidney said with a smile on her face. “Like she got real small?”
“REAL small. She was barely an inch tall on the last night of her visit!” The cat said with a smile.
“It was exhilarating. I’ve never felt so good as I did when he shrank me. Honestly, that’s half of why I booked again, I can’t wait to be tiny again.”
“You want to shrink all of us?” asked Jenn.
“Well, that’s the deal. I don’t have room for five grown adults to stay in this apartment. I only gots one bed, but if you are small there are so many places I can put you!” he giggled.
“Put us?” Jenn replied quickly. “I don’t know how I feel about any of this”
“Oh come on,” Penelope giggled. “You of all of us could stand to be a bit smaller.”
“Shut up, Tubby,” Jenn said with a snap. Penelope looked oddly at her but shrugged it off.
“Now now, no need for all of that, I assure you this is all perfectly safe!”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t have invited you over if I thought this was dangerous,” said Nora with a big smile.
“I can even prove it’s safe,” he said as he watched the second Kanada emerge from the bathroom.
“Oh we have guests,” he said, sounding identical to Kanada, in addition to looking like him.
“Come here, me, I need you,” Kanada said. The second cat walked over, tail swishing, and he murred.
“Oh…you neeeeed me?” the second cat said, running his paw over Kanada’s bulge.
“Not now, me.” He giggled.
“He looks and sounds just like you!” Said Penelope.
“Well, duh, he’s a Kanada. We all look and sound like me.” Kanada said as a matter of fact. “As I mentioned, we mostly all look the same, from the tip of our brown hair to our fat pawbs” he said with a chuckle, wiggling his oversized toes. “This one is a guest like yourselves, and I suppose that means he was a human at one point, but I can’t remember…”
“Neither can I,” said the second one. “That’s all super fuzzy, like my butt!” He said with a guffaw.
“Anyway, let me show you how safe I think this is,” Kanada said as he took his paw, a claw poked out of it, and he simply tapped it to the other cat’s forehead.
“Don't even think, just shrink!” he said.
The second cat smiled a goofy grin and repeated the words of the other one “Shrink”
And he did. His body warped and wiggled like a cartoon character as it started to reduce in size, and there was a loud PBBTHHHHHHH sound like someone was letting the air out of a balloon.
The girls watched in awe as the cat went from his full height to half, to only a foot tall in a matter of seconds and continued to get smaller. Kanada giggled in delight at the shrunken version of himself and reached down and picked him up. He had to only be six inches tall, but the shrinking seemed to have stopped. He walked over and set him down on the coffee table in front of the couch.
“See! If it were dangerous would I send…myself?!” he said proudly. “Little me there will be the perfect guide when you all join him this evening.”
“Guide to where?” asked Nora. “Is it where I think it is?” she said with a giddy clap of her hands.
“Well, you did specify in the reservation so yes. You’ll be spending the evening on my butt”
“BUTT!” said Sidney before letting out a laugh.
“Are you serious?” Jenn said with a look of disbelief.
“It’s one of the most popular Space Saver packages!” he said. “And little me will make sure nothing bad happens to ya while you are down there, won’t you!”
“You got it, big me!” said Tiny Kanada with a high-pitched squeaky voice.
“Wow, this is so cute,” said Sidney as she leaned forward off the couch to get a closer look.
“This is too weird,” said Jenn.
“I mean yeah it’s weird, but it’s kinda cool” Said Alley.
“Sounds kind of fun to me,” said Penelope.
“And there is no rush, ladies. We have all night to build up to it” said Kanada. “You are more than welcome to be normal-sized while we chill in the living room! I can answer any questions you may have about me and my kind!”
