"Hey! Can I get another one over here?!" Rachel yelled in a slurred voice.

Laura sighed and walked over to the fridge to get another beer. On the way, she looked at the clock. It wasn't even midnight yet. Laura would have to deal with this for more than two hours yet...

Laura placed Rachel's beer on the bar. Rachel grabbed it and took a big drink before slamming it down onto the bar. A bit of the beer splashed out and made a mess on the bar. Laura wondered why Rachel kept asking for more when half of it ended up on the bar and on the floor. Unfortunately, enough of it managed to get down Rachel's throat to make her into the obnoxious mess Laura had to deal with now. It wasn't even ten minutes before Rachel was calling for another.

Laura dejectedly went to get the beer Rachel was requesting. On her way, she walked past Molly, the new hire.

"Hasn't she had enough?" Molly asked, looking in Rachel's direction. "Shouldn't we cut her off before she hurts herself or breaks something?"

"I would love to." Laura replied. "I actually did cut her off once. The owner chewed me out for it. All that bastard cares about is selling as many drinks as he can. Of course, that's easy when you're not the one dealing with the customers."

"Has he considered the cost of things getting broken or people getting hurt?" Molly asked.

Not even thirty seconds after Molly said that, a crash was heard. The two of them looked to see Rachel on the floor. Her stool was lying next to her with one of its legs broken off.

"My point exactly." Molly sighed. They came out from behind the bar and helped Rachel up. Rachel could barely stand without assistance. She stumbled to another stool and demanded another beer. Molly began to protest, but Laura just shook her head sadly and walked behind the bar. In another minute, Rachel was once again seated at the bar with another drink. Her speech was quickly becoming even more slurred and her drinks more messy.

Molly couldn't believe what she was witnessing. It was just irresponsible. She needed to do something to put a stop to this. She pondered how she could do it without attracting the attention of Laura or the bar's owner. Perhaps it was time to make use of her special talents.

Molly waited for Rachel to step away to go to the bathroom. It didn't take long considering how much she'd had to drink. When Rachel was just about at the restroom door, Molly met her.

Hey, do you have a minute? There's something you need to see." Molly said.

"Can it wait?" Rachel replied, not really focusing on Molly. It looked like Rachel was straining just to keep her balance.

Oh, this won't take long, for me anyway." Molly retorted. With that, she did a quick glance around. There were no cameras by the restrooms. There was no one else around, either. Molly flicked her finger at Rachel. A strange glow surrounded Rachel for a second before she suddenly vanished. Molly smiled as she looked at the spot where Rachel had been standing. In Rachel's place was a glass mug, perfect for serving drinks in.

Molly picked up the mug and brought it back behind the bar. Laura had just got done serving other customers when she noticed Molly's return.

"Oh great, hopefully Rachel didn't make a mess in there." Laura said.

"Actually, she wasn't in there when I checked. Maybe she went home." Molly said innocently.

"Oh, that'sĀ  great to hear." Laura said. Her voice was full of relief. "I thought she would keep drinking until we'd have to call an ambulance."

"Guess we're lucky." Molly replied. "Anyway, someone left this mug on the floor by the restrooms. I'm going to get it put in with the next load of dishes."

Rachel had no idea what was happening. She had just been talking to that bartender. The next thing she knew, the room around her seemed to get bigger. The drunkenness from all of the drinks she consumed that night vanished. She was perfectly aware of how big everything around her had become. More unsettling, was the fact that she couldn't move. She was utterly rigid. She couldn't even feel herself breathing. Nothing about her felt right. She couldn't figure out why, but her body didn't even feel like it was shaped right.

The real shock came when that bartender walked up to her. The bartender towered over Rachel, erasing all doubt that Rachel had somehow gotten smaller. The bartender didn't seem at all disturbed by this, though. She casually bent down and picked Rachel up. Rachel couldn't believe how easily this random barmaid was lifting her up, nor how easily she was carried behind the bar. It seemed like the bartender was holding Rachel by something sticking out of Rachel's body, like a handle. Rachel was really starting to freak out when the bartender carrying her referred to her as a mug.

Molly carried the glass mug to the kitchen area behind the bar. With no thought about who or what the mug had been a few minutes ago, she opened up the dishwasher and placed the mug inside. Rachel wanted to scream at the bartender. What did she think she was doing, putting Rachel upside down into a dishwasher? She was treating Rachel as if she were......a mug.

The conversation this bartender had with her coworker on the way here was stuck in Rachel's mind. She had referred to Rachel as a mug. Rachel couldn't move at all, and was small enough to be carried by one hand. Now she was being placed in a dishwasher. She certainly was being treated like a mug. The more she focused on herself, the more she realized how mug shaped her body felt. That wasn't right, though. She was a person, not a mug. People don't just turn into mugs. How would something like that even happen?

Rachel didn't have time to think about it any further before the door to the dishwasher was closed. Everything went dark. Rachel was quite terrified at that point. Her dread only increased when she heard the sound of water rushing in. At first she could only hear its deafeningly loud splashing. Soon enough it was splashing against her. It quickly submerged her. Yet, she didn't struggle for breath. She could also tell that the water was quite hot. It quickly became uncomfortable being in the hot water. The heat felt like it should be burning her. She wanted to squirm, to pull herself out of this scalding bath. Nonetheless, she remained perfectly still.

After the dishwasher was full, the water began to rotate. The speed of the rotation quickly increased. Rachel was stuck there in the dark with hot water rushing past her. She had no idea how she had ended up in this situation or what would happen to her from here. It was hard to think about it as she was relentlessly lashed by the hot whirlpool.

Rachel had no idea how long she was stuck in the dishwasher. Eventually, the water did mercifully stop moving and slowly drained from Rachel's prison. The door was opened and Rachel had trouble seeing anything at first. She was too disoriented from being washed. The first thing she could make out was the face of the bartender who had put her in there. Before Rachel could attempt to demand answers for what she had just went through, the bartender reached in and grabbed her. The bartender carried Rachel, who was bunched up with several pieces of glassware, to the area behind the bar. The bartender carried Rachel to a cupboard and set her inside. A clank that sounded disturbingly like glass was heard as Rachel was set down.

Rachel caught a quick glimpse of the bar room. It was empty except for the two bartenders. She must have been in the dishwasher long enough for closing time to come and go. The bartender closed the cupboard and Rachel was once again in the dark.

From there, Rachel was in a blur that was equal parts boring and terrifying. She couldn't move or speak, and she couldn't see anything. She was more alone with her thoughts than she ever had been. Unfortunately, she could think of nothing else except the situation she was in. Her mind was stuck on the fact that the bartender had referred to her as a mug. She had then been put through a dishwasher and didn't drown or get burned to death by the scalding water. She was now apparently small enough for someone to carry her with one hand, and she had been set in this cupboard with a bunch of mugs. It had even sounded like glass coming into contact with wood when she had been set in there. Was it possible that she had become a glass mug?

Rachel wanted to kick herself for thinking such a crazy thing could be possible. However, it didn't feel like she still had legs with which to kick. In fact, no part of her felt normal. All of her mass seemed to be in a cylinder shape, with a hollow area in the middle. The only part of her that was sticking out, felt shaped like a handle. Rachel couldn't believe it was true, but the evidence was undeniable. She had really been turned into a mug!

Rachel was at a complete loss at how such a transformation was possible, let alone how it had happened. Furthermore, how could she see, hear, and feel if she was now a glass mug? Rachel had so many questions but no way to look for answers. She could only do what a mug could do: nothing.

Rachel had no idea how long she had been in that cupboard. There wasn't much use for a beer mug in a bar during the day. However, Rachel knew what would likely happen once business hours ended and people started coming into the bar. She silently lamented that she should be one of the people coming in for drinks after work. It was looking like she would be what the drinks were served in instead.

Eventually, Rachel heard voices coming from outside the cupboard. Without warning the door to the cupboard opened. Before Rachel could try to see anything, someone grabbed her handle. Rachel was quickly pulled out of the cupboard. The next thing she knew she was under a tap. A different bartender from the one she encountered the previous night pulled the handle of the tap, and beer flowed into Rachel. It was an incredibly odd feeling, having liquid poured into a hollow space she had not had a day ago. Despite being an inanimate mug, sight, hearing, and touch were not the only human senses she retained. She could taste the beer that was filling her up. Unfortunately, it was not as enjoyable as drinking the beer. Without the ability to consume it, the beer was just...there. The flavor didn't do much for her without the ability to get intoxicated from it.

She was set on the bar with a thud that snapped her out of her thoughts about the beer. She quickly realized she had been placed in front of a man who looked to be slightly older than college age. Rachel could do nothing to protest as he grabbed her handle. The moment had come for Rachel to serve the purpose of a mug. The man's lips clamped around the rim of Rachel's new form. Rachel wanted to scream. It was the most disgusting feeling she had ever experienced. The man's lips moved and slurped up the beer that was inside Rachel. It was like a sloppy, unwanted kiss. Rachel could feel every movement of the lips as they sucked down the beer. Finally, the man set Rachel down, and she was left to taste what remained of the beer she couldn't drink.

This ordeal was repeated two more times before the beer was gone. Rachel was stuck on the bar with the aftertaste of warmed up beer. Gross smudges covered her top rim. Rachel had hoped her time as this guy's mug would be done now that the beer was gone, but no such luck. He quickly ordered a refill. Within seconds, Rachel was back under the tap getting more beer poured into her. Then, she was back in front of her customer. Rachel went through this for four refills. The feeling of lips smacking against the glass she was made of grew more vivid as the night went on. Rachel wished the guy would just go home. It was completely lost on her that was the very thing the employees of this bar had wished she would do the previous night.

Eventually, the man paid his tab and walked out. Rachel was left on the bar, sticky and smudged from the remnants of beer and spit. After being ignored for a short time, a hand grabbed Rachel. It carried her back toward the dishwasher. Rachel was torn between not wanting to go through the dishwasher again, and wanting the mess cleaned off her. The choice was made for her though as she was placed on the top rack. The light disappeared, and Rachel was subjected to another long rush of hot water.

Soon Rachel was back in the cupboard to ponder her first day as a mug. She hoped it would be her last. However, she still had no idea how she had ended up as a mug, much less how she would change back. With no way to actively seek her freedom, she just had to hope whatever force had transformed her would wear off soon.

Unfortunately, she did not change back soon. Rachel quickly lost track of how many nights it had been since she had been turned into a sentient mug. She had spent each night with a different person drinking out of her. Men, women, young, old, rich, poor, people from all walks of life took their turn drinking out of the mug Rachel had become. Many different kinds of drinks were served inside her, from beer, to wine, to mixed drinks, to straight vodka for one old woman looking to get drunk quickly. Rachel was beginning to hate the taste of alcohol. It really didn't bring her any enjoyment when she had to endlessly taste it without being able to get drunk from it.

In addition, Rachel had to live in constant fear of how she was beingĀ  handled. She had endured quite a few scary experiences, from being slammed down on the bar a little too hard to nearly being knocked to the floor by a stray arm. Rachel didn't know what would happen to her if she ended up breaking, and she didn't want to find out. The world was not a pleasant place for her while she was literally made of glass.

Meanwhile, things were going well for Molly. With Rachel out of the way, the nights at the bar were going much more smoothly. The bar's other patrons seemed to know their limits. It didn't seem like anyone suspected anything regarding Rachel's absence either. It seemed Molly's lesson for Rachel would be able to go on without interruption. A few months of this and Rachel would never want to touch alcohol again. If she did, she would still probably be too scared of this bar to bother them again. Molly would just have to remember which mug Rachel was when the time came.
