The large bedroom was completely still as the sunlight began to fade for the evening.

In one corner of the bedroom, there was a glass display case. Inside, were six plastic figures. There was one of Kari from Digimon, one of Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon, one of Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy, one of the female Pokémon Trainer from Fire Red and Leaf Green, one of Dark Magician Girl from Yu-gi-oh, and one of Hinata from Naruto. To an outside observer, these would appear to be ordinary figures, likely bought as souvenirs or ordered online. However, each of them was one of a kind. This was because they had not been manufactured. Rather, each of these plastic figures had once been an actual breathing young woman and unknown to anyone looking at them now, their minds still resided in their inanimate bodies.

Their stories had all been largely the same. They had hall been attending the local anime and game convention while cosplaying as the characters they now found themselves models of. They had each met a young man with a camera who asked each of them for a picture. After obliging, they were subjected to an intensely bright flash of blue light and found themselves immobile and shrunken. They had been decorations in that man's bedroom ever since. Each of them were acquired a year apart as if it had become a yearly tradition for their mysterious captor.

The Kari figure had been there the longest. It had been five years since she had been changed from a young woman to a plastic figure sitting on a shelf. As time passed since her transformation, she slowly became less and less able to think and less aware of her surroundings. That continued slowly until she reached the state she was in now. Her mind had completely gone blank. Her name, her memories, everything about who she was, now lost in the deep stupor she was now in. Prior to this, she would occasionally be jolted awake if there was a loud noise or sudden movement in the room, but this only served to make her painfully aware of her situation again for a while before she slipped back into her unthinking limbo. At this point, nothing snapped her out of it, and she, for all intents and purposes, had fully become the inanimate figure that blue flash of light had turned her body into.

The Sailor Mars figure had been there for four years. Her mind had not yet slipped into total dormancy like the Kari figure's. However, she still found herself largely unable to remember details of her life when she had been human. Had she ever been human? The ideas of moving, breathing, living the life of a human all seemed so foreign to her now. Jumbled memories flowed through her consciousness in a dreamlike manner. She was only aware of the world around her when disturbed, and even that only registered hazily in her fading mind.

The Tifa figure had been part of this collection for three years. She spent most days in the dull unawareness that her predecessors went in and out of, but she was easily awakened by any noise or movement in the room. When awakened, she became fully aware of her predicament once more. She had traveled to a few conventions and loved the attention she received for her cosplays. This made the isolation the hardest part of her strange situation to deal with. She had every reason to believe that that the other figures around her had been people as well so during the times when she was fully awake, she maintained her sanity as best she could by imagining details about the other figures' lives and what they may be, thinking about her. This kept her occupied until she fell back into the unthinking slumber once more.

The Pokémon Trainer figure had spent two years in its current state. Like the others, she drifted in and out of consciousness. However she was awake more often than not. She still remembered pretty much everything about her life as a human. Her name is Kate and she had worked at the convention center registration desk. The guy who had done this to her had convinced her to pose for a photo in her pokemon trainer costume. Following the unforgettable bright flash, she had spent the rest of the day as an ornament on the very desk where she had worked. So many people had passed by the registration desk but no one saw Kate as anything more than a object decorating it. She then was brought to the guy's home and placed on a wooden shelf with the other figures. Then, a while back, the guy who had done this to them seemed to have came into some wealth. He had moved to a larger house, throwing Kate and the other figures into a box. The next thing she knew, they were being placed into the glass case in the larger bedroom where they have been ever since. That fact that the enclosed case prevented them from gathering dust had been the one improvement to their situation since they had found themselves plastic prisoners.

The Dark Magician Girl figure had been a woman named Gina. She had found herself in this situation a year ago after playing against the room's owner in a card game tournament. She had been added to the collection after he had moved to the current house and thus, the glass case had been her home since her transformation. She was conscious most of the time and obsessively went through the day she was transformed in her head. She mentally kicked herself for every perceived opportunity to avoid her current predicament and it was taking its toll on her sanity throwing her into mental loops that were difficult to break out of.

Then, there was the most recent addition, the Hinata figure. Just four days ago it had been a young woman named Elizabeth, though everyone called her Liz. Because she had just been transformed, her mind had not yet begun to dull. She had been taking a walk to get away from the crowd, when she had crossed paths with the strange guy and found herself locked into her current pose and shrunken to her current size. She had no idea of the full extent of what had happened to her until she was placed here with the other figures. She was still largely in denial, believing that she must be dreaming and that she will wake up soon. Every so often she would frantically try to move, but it was futile as she no longer had muscles or joints. Her body was rigid plastic the same as the other figures in the collection that she didn't want to believe she had become a part of.

They all remained in the glass case in the corner of the bedroom. The only movement came when the room's owner entered in the evening to turn in for the night. Sometimes he would take a few seconds to admire his collection before turning out the lights and leaving them in darkness until morning comes and the same uneventful day passes once more.
