Liz stretched and stood up from the bench to continue walking.
She had been attending the anime convention that was in town that weekend. She had wanted to get outdoors and get away from the crowd for a bit, so she took a walk down the recreational trail along the river near the convention center. For a summer day, the air was cool and there was a chance of rain later in the day. As a result, there weren’t many people on the trail and she could walk about in her Hinata cosplay without drawing too much attention to herself.
She began to make her way back to the convention center, when she walked past a guy carrying a large duffle bag and book. He had a camera around his neck and he appeared to glance for a moment at Liz as she walked by.
"I wasn't expecting to run into a cosplayer out here," he said.
"Yeah, I just had to get out and get some air," Liz replied. "Are you from the convention too?"
"Yes, I am," he said. "I just got this new camera and figured this would be a great place to get some interesting pictures. So far, the weekend hasn't disappointed."
"I bet, with all of the cosplayers and displays." Liz replied.
"Yeah, I've seen some insanely detailed ones," he continued. "Speaking of which, would you mind if I got a picture now? Your Hinata costume is great."
"Sure, but you might want to make it quick," Liz said. "It looks like the rain could start coming down at any second."
Liz quickly assumed a fighting pose at the guy raised his camera. After adjusting the lense for a moment and then clicked the shutter. A bright burst of blue light flashed for an instant and Liz immediately felt strange. The feeling of the breeze that was blowing by had dulled and her whole body suddenly seemed less sensitive to the world around her. She wanted to get back to the convention center and sit down for a bit, but found that she was unable to move a muscle. Her body seemed frozen in the pose she had assumed for the picture. In addition to this, her vision seemed to be playing tricks on her giving her the dizzying perception that she was shrinking as everything in sight seemed to be growing around her.
"What's happening to me, am I having a stroke!?" Liz wondered. She tried to call to the guy for help buy found her mouth just as unresponsive as the rest of her body. To Liz's momentary relief, the shrinking feeling soon stopped, but her worry quickly returned when she found she was still rigidly locked in her pose.
The guy lowered his camera and walked toward Liz. To her utter bewilderment, he picked her up with one hand that looked huge from Liz's point of view. She hadn't imagined it, she really was smaller.
Liz was oblivious to the true nature of her predicament, but anyone walking by at that moment would have seen the guy holding a small plastic figure of Hinata in his hand. There would be no way to tell that this figure had just moments ago been a person or that that person was still aware of her surroundings even in her new inanimate form.
Suddenly, the downpour that the clouds had been threatening began. "Shit!" The guy exclaimed. He quickly unzipped his bag the throw his book and camera in to keep them out of the rain. He then tossed a terrified Liz into his bag as well and began running back to the convention center.
