Chapter XV

Cecelia awoke to an empty stomach. Or in her case, it was ‘Quinn’ who awoke to an empty stomach.

Stretching out on her chair, she yawned and tossed a few times, trying to at least fall asleep or stave her hunger. Cooking was not something she’d like to be doing. However, as her half-asleep mind began to wander, she felt something in her hand...

Conveniently enough, her right hand had fluidly transformed into a bowl of Cheetos. With her left she began mindlessly eating them up, the bowl refilling itself as she did. “I never thought I’d taste so... real...” she murmured, dumbfounded as she was intrigued. “It’s not like I can get fat eating these... but it begs the question, would they even do anything for my appetite?”

Detaching the bowl after a few generous helpings of the cheesy snacks, Cecelia held it in her regenerated palm and let it soften into fluorescent orange putty. Pulling out her phone, she turned on some music and began reading the news as she toyed with her moldable taffy, altering its consistency at her whim to allow it to flow through her fingers and collect around her thumb.

Her stomach growled after a few moments. “I should just get something delivered,” she grumbled, considering her options. More minutes passed her by.

“You probably know what I’m craving more than I do right now,” she joked to Kahri. “If you’d like, swing by with some food and we’ll hang for a little.”

“Are you sure there’s nothing in particular you’re in the mood for? Pizza, Mexican, Chinese, fast food...”

“I honest to god can’t decide.”

“If ya say so. Don’t worry, I’ll find something you’ll enjoy.”

“Thank youuu...” Cecelia happily mused. Kahri could hear her grin.

“Don’t you worry! I’ll be over as soon as I can, and don’t even think of paying me back.”

    “Awh, Kahri, you’re the best.”

“I know,” she laughed. Cecelia hung up.

“Door unlocked,” read a sticky note planted right above the deadbolt on Cecelia’s front door. Kahri opened it to a round, glass-topped end table with a paper sign on it, telling her to “leave any food here! Thx, Cici.”

“Ceece?” called Kahri, closing the door behind her and scanning her surroundings, doing as she was requested by the sign. The family room was surely empty, and peeking around the corner, so was the dining room. No one in the kitchen either, or the living room lying ahead.

“Hi Kahri!” greeted a peppy Cecelia from behind her, giving her quite the shock.

    “Cici... were you the—”

“Yep!” Cecelia placed the food on the coffee table a few feet to her left, then hopped into Kahri’s arms for a hug. “Thanks for coming. And for dinner.”

“A-Anytime!” she replied through a dumbfounded, slightly overwhelmed blush.

The two sat themselves on the couch, and from then, there was no force in the universe that could shield Cecelia from her meal. She rustled through the bag, digging into it like a dog and scooping up a handful of French fries that had fallen out of their box, shoving them right into her famished maw. “Someone’s hungry!” chirped Kahrj, sliding the bag a few inches across the table for her own sake; at this rate her friend would down all the goodies she just ordered before she could even get a single bite!

Kahri handed Cecelia a chicken sandwich and a box of fries, along with a second box of spicy chicken nuggets. What remained in the bag — a burger and another order of fries — she kept to herself. Cecelia started chowing down once again as if the few seconds she’d sat without her food had been days. In a matter of under three minutes, only her nuggets were left.

Once the pair had finished their dinner, they cleaned off the coffee table and returned to the couch, sitting close together in front of old episodes of American Ninja Warrior.

Much time went by in silence as the duo spectated, then a rush of desire overcame Kahri. She sprang from her place on the couch, sitting up with her hand on Cecelia’s abdomen. She faced her and spoke only three words:

    “Transform me. Please.”
