Claire felt disoriented waking up. It wasn’t the strange bed that gave her that feeling, no, it was her head facing the other direction. With a quick twist, she set her head where it should be and stood up from the bed. Last night was the big night of her bachelorette - the final hurrah before everyone left for home from this quaint town in the mountains. Craving a cup of coffee to reset her mind, she walked out of the cabin rental’s master bedroom and into a mess. Seeing a few of the girls up and some of them still asleep on the couch, she recounted the evening before…

“You’ve got to be kidding me, this was your idea?!” asked Claire, voice raised. She was looking at her friends, invited by her sister Lindsey, and each of them had a copy of Claire’s head in their hands.
Her best friend Melissa piped up, “It’s so boring printing out paper versions of your face and putting them on a stick when we go out for your big bash. So I thought, why not have the real deal! We are celebrating you after all!”
When Claire asked how they got a copy of her head, she found out her sister whisked it away one night to get it copied several weeks ago, and let on to Claire’s body that she must’ve left it somewhere. Instead, Mel was making 4 copies ahead of the bachelorette trip.
“We thought it would make for a fun wedding present too, you always joke about you’d lose your head one day so now you have some backups after tonight!” said Mel excitedly. Kelly and Chelsea looked at each other and then at the Claire heads in their hands, smirking.
“Fine, we can all go out with wearing my head, but only because y’all look so damn good with my head on your shoulders,” Claire announced. “Please wear your hair in different ways if you can so I can remember who you are!”
Lindsey spoke up, “Oh let’s send a picture to Colin with your head on, he’ll freak out! Hopefully he picks you as the prettiest one!”
The girls left their heads in Kelly’s room, with Netflix on, to keep them entertained for the night.

Claire poured a cup of coffee, as Mel, still wearing her Claire head, giggled silently, pointing to Kelly and Chelsea. In various states of undress, they were embracing each others’ hips, evidence of hookup with each other the night before and perhaps some action before the rest of the cabin woke up. One of Claire's heads was detached and nuzzled against Kelly's butt cheeks, and the other was pushed up against Kelly's toes. Claire nudged Kelly's body awake.
“So, how was last night?” Claire asked.
The head by Kelly's feet stirred slowly. “Pretty fucking awesome if you ask me. You should’ve joined in, you were asking what it would be like to kiss yourself but chickened out.”
Claire got flush, the memory of her proposing that to Kelly and Chelsea came back to her as they were grinding on the dance floor of the honky tonk. Claire backed out of it but Kelly and Chelsea spent most of the night spurning the local boys and locked lips and hips together.
“Never say never,” Claire responded. “The party isn’t technically over.” She then turned back to the kitchen where Mel sat on the wooden stool. “So while the two love birds were exploring each other with my head, Mel, what the fuck, I remember walking in on you in the lady’s room. You were sucking that tall guy’s dick! You’ve been with Brett for years and your bachelorette party is probably next up! What were you thinking!?”
Mel was caught off guard. “Um, well, he was pretty cute and one thing led to another after talking and shots that, well, it’s not cheating if it’s with your head, right? I told him I was your twin and he wanted to show me a good time.”
Claire shook her head in her hands, “I won’t tell Brett but come on don’t put me in a compromising position. What if someone else saw it and thought it was me?”
Mel shrugged. “Sorry Claire,” was all she could say.
Claire looked around. The room with their original heads was quiet, and her sister Lindsey was nowhere to be found. “Hey have y.all seen Linds?”
As if on cue, Mel, Claire, and one of the heads by Kelly heard a truck park in the cabin’s driveway, followed by a door slam. In walked Lindsey, with no head, and carrying her flats in hand. The truck drove off after a honk.
“LINDSEY! WHERE WERE YOU? WHERE IS MY HEAD” Claire demanded.
Her headless body held up her pointer finger as if to say give me one second. She slinked quietly into the bedroom and grabbed her head. It woke up when she placed it on her neck.
“Hey so you remember the guitar player last night?” Lindsey asked.
“Oh no, you didn’t?” Mel said.
“He was a real sweetheart in between playing, so we got to talking, he made me laugh, and offered me a place to stay for the night. He did say he likes blondes so maybe I’ll get another copy of your head Claire for dates,” Lindsey recalled.
Claire grumbled, “Linds you can’t run off with strangers no matter how handsome they are. Look! He kidnapped your, or I mean, my head!”
“Not at all,” her sister explained. “After we slept together, I told him all about how it wasn’t my real head and everything and he was a little bummed. But he did ask for a little something to remember me by before I left, and he said your head was beautiful. And he’d bring it on tours so we could still have fun after my body leaves. Besides, he dropped me off here like a gentleman.”
Claire sighed, exasperated. “OK fine. Just remember this when it’s my turn at your bach parties. Let’s get brunch and get packing for home. Looks like all the embarrassing stuff is behind us now.”
Lindsey smiled a knowing smile. “About that…as unofficial photographer I might’ve captured most of the night, including Mel giving the BJ in the stall and Chelsea slipping her head under Kelly’s dress on the dance floor…”
Kelly also confessed. “Yeah, I might’ve recorded me and Chels last night on the couch. What is the cleaning fee for this cabin again?”
Mel was last. “And I might’ve added Colin to the group album of these pics and videos, so….”
Claire smacked her forehead to where her head almost came off. “Mouthwash those heads of mine, put you all’s back on, and let’s get moving. I’ll thank you later for sending my future husband material for his spank bank but now I need a bloody mary to deal with y’all. And Lindsey, you owe me a head.”
