The Exalt, a Galactic Federation frigate, had been an eerie sight for Samus Aran to behold as she'd approached it. The Exalt's distress signal had been weak and almost lost behind the background noise of radiation but Samus had been close enough to intercept it. Like an abandoned ship lost at sea, The Exalt had seemed devoid of all life and purpose as it drifted through the endless void of space. Despite the Exalt's peaceful (yet still unnerving appearance) Samus was reminded of the last frigate distress signal she had intercepted, the Space Pirate ship Orpheon. Like the Exalt, the Orpheon had seemed tranquil from a distance, but inside Samus had encountered danger and the constant threat of death throughout its infrastructure...

Refocusing on the present, Samus steeled herself and activated her Varia Suit in preparation for the potential horrors that awaited within the Exalt as she landed her ship in the Exalt's deathly quiet docking bay.

After having walked through countless corridors, hallways and unlocked hex doors, Samus had found no cause as to why the Exalt had been allowed to float freely into the dead of space. Like the exterior, the interior of the Exalt was not in disrepair, there had been no sign of an attack by Space Pirates or rogue bounty hunters. The Exalt's internal energy reserves were almost depleted, which was to be expected, but they had not been tampered with in any way. Little within the Exalt gave reason or cause as to why the ship was unmanned and why the distress signal had been activated...

It wasn't until Samus had found her first corpse that the mystery of the Exalt began to unravel.

The corpse which Samus had located, that of a thin haired middle aged man in a white lab coat, had died with a pained and panicked expression on his face in the corridor that led to the Exalt's bio-research lab. Upon closer inspection of the corpse, Samus had noted that there were no wounds, no loss of blood and no external physical trauma of any kind that could have resulted in death that the human eye could detect. Activating her Varia Suit's scan visor, however, had yielded different results. Samus's scan had indicated high levels of an unidentifiable toxin within the corpse's lungs, he'd been poisoned.

Leaving the corpse and stepping through the hex door that led to the Exalt's bio-research lab, Samus raised her arm cannon in preparation of an ambush... Within the bio-research lab were more corpses, scanning with her visor as she stepped over body after body, it soon became clear to Samus that each member of the bio-research team had died the same way; via a toxin released into the Exalt's air supply. In some chilling way, the Exalt came to feel more like an elaborate execution chamber to Samus than a humble federation ship.

Having scanned the bio-research lab for any potential threats and finding none, Samus turned her attention to the bio-research lab's wall of monitors and began searching for information. The Exalt's power supply was almost spent but there was still enough for Samus to uncover the information she needed. Hacking the familiar Galactic Federation system confirmed that the people aboard the Exalt had all been killed via an aerosol toxin that had been released throughout the facility. Not content with how the innocent people that lay at her feet had died, Samus began a determined search for why they had died.

Mere moments later and Samus had found the truth, it was a truth she didn't want to believe, but a truth that didn't entirely surprise her. The Galactic Federation, the sovereign government of civilised planets within the galaxy were creating bioweapons, bioweapons which were nearing completion. Secrecy had obviously been paramount, and so, once their work had been completed, the staff of the Exalt had been murdered to better keep the Galactic Federation's secrets. Though their plan had obviously gone awry, someone had managed to activate the distress beacon and force the Exalt to break orbit in a futile attempt to save their lives.

Silently seething with a rage that stung like hot needles, Samus had continued to hack the Exalt's databanks in search of what and where the bioweapons were...

'Metroid Dread'.

Metroid Dread, the name of a Galactic Federation document that Samus had managed to gain access to. The name 'Metroid' caused a white-hot surge of panic and rage to course through Samus's body. The Metroid Dread existed, Metroids were once again no longer extinct. As she read on, Samus recorded the details of the Metroid Dread's morphology and what it was apparently capable of... If the document was true, then the Metroid Dread was beyond anything she had seen before. It was potentially the most dangerous breed of Metroid that the universe had ever seen. It seemed wholly possible that with the Metroid Dread the Galactic Federation would be able to wage wars and colonise entire planets with relative ease... It was a creature that should never exist...

"Samus Aran! Cease all functions and take two paces backwards!" ordered a sudden and unseen voice from behind Samus.

Samus had been too invested in the document pertaining to the Metroid Dread that she hadn't noticed four federation troopers gather behind her. Doing as one of them had commanded, Samus stepped back from the monitors.

"Deactivate your Varia Suit. Cooperation is mandatory!" came the second of four voices.

Ignoring how easily she'd let herself drop her guard, Samus began to weigh a series of potential solutions to her plight. It was possible that the four federation troopers behind her were honest men doing their duty, it was likely that they'd also heard the Exalt's distress call and had decided to investigate, thus to them Samus knew that her presence could be construed as suspicious. However, it was also entirely possible that they had been sent by the Galactic Federation, perhaps the Exalt's distress signal had been a trap for Samus herself. Given her previous dealings with the Metroid Species, the Galactic Federation would no doubt see Samus as opposition were they to ever make the Metroid Dread public knowledge...

"Samus Aran, this is your final opportunity to comply! If you do not deactivate your Varia Suit immediately we will open fire!"

Samus knew she had no choice; pivoting on the spot and crouching to one knee Samus opened fire on the four federation troopers with the intention of disarming them.

As Samus opened fire so too did the four federation troopers. Where Samus had expected bullets and energy beams she instead found shockwaves. The sonic shockwaves of the federation troopers' weaponry dissipated the shots fired from Samus's arm cannon, lifted her from her feet and forced her into the wall of monitors behind her.
Before Samus could recover or engage the gravity function on her Varia Suit the federation troopers fired again. Each shockwave sent Samus slamming against the nearby wall and within moments her Varia Suit began to malfunction. One by one the functions on Samus's Varia Suit began shutting down until there was nothing left but the shell of the Varia Suit itself.

Finally Samus felt her metallic body hit the floor. Her head was throbbing, her muscles were quivering and her strength had been sapped from her. The Varia Suit had become useless in combat and too heavy to wield as armour...

"Samus Aran! Deactivate your Varia Suit or we will destroy it with you inside!!" screamed the fourth and final trooper's voice.

Knowing her limits and not wanting the Varia Suit destroyed, Samus deactivated it and now lay where she had fallen in only her Zero Suit. Walking over to Samus with their weapons raised, the four troopers surrounded Samus's aching body as she struggled on the floor in search of her lost strength.

"Samus, no further harm will come to you if you comply. Do not pose any resistance." The federation trooper's voice was distant to Samus's ears but she still understood what he'd had to say. It took Samus all her strength to nod in response.

The federation trooper knelt down beside Samus, rolled her on to her back by her shoulder and gripped her cheeks tightly. The trooper's suit was ugly and bulky, its fingers on Samus's cheeks felt as if they were going to either break her jaw or tear her skin, in the end she'd had no choice but to open her mouth to the trooper. Her eyes and ears still viewed the world as a perpetually vibrating vision but her senses were slowly coming back to her and at this point she'd regained enough of herself to watch as the trooper pushed a rather sinister looking device towards her mouth.

As she lay at the mercy of the federation trooper, Samus felt a solid phallic-like object fill her mouth. The base of the phallic-like object covered her parted lips and caused a sense of helplessness to wash over her. Raising her head from the floor, the federation trooper locked the device around the back of Samus's head with a heavy-sounding magnetic click. Samus had heard the same sound before on many heavy compression locks, it was a sound that told her that the device that had been used to quiet her would not be able to be removed through manual means alone.

With the metallic gag locked in place, the federation trooper stood and backed away from Samus to let two of the others surround and lift her to her unsteady feet. With two troopers keeping her upright, another in front of her and the last of the four behind her, the troopers began walking as a unit through the bio-research lab with Samus in the center. With each step Samus could feel her strength returning and her senses refocusing...

Within minutes the federation troopers had led Samus out of the bio-research lab and through the corridor where Samus had found the corpse of the thin haired middle aged man. As the federation troopers stepped through a nearby hex door on their return journey to the Exalt's docking bay, Samus took a chance and made an attempt for her freedom.
All at once, Samus elbowed the face of the trooper on her left, kicked the trooper in front of her in the small of the back and then fell to the floor screaming beneath her solid metallic gag as a surge of electricity viciously coursed through her body...

Recovering from their assault the federation troopers once again surrounded Samus as she lay in pain on the floor.

"Riot control, Samus. Any exertion of physical strength or sound over ten decibels will result in an electric charge from the device you're wearing." spoke one of the troopers.

Hearing the trooper's words over the static sounds in her head that made it sound as if her blood was crackling, Samus nodded and continued to lie still on the metallic floor of one of the Exalt's corridors. Signalling to one another, the troopers picked Samus up and dragged her the rest of the way to their ship in the docking bay.

Within their ship, the federation troopers sat Samus down and shackled her wrists to the arms of the chair via more heavy metallic clamps. As she sat there, silent an unable to move she listened and watched as the federation troopers set a course to familiar coordinates...

The troopers were taking her to the corrupt Galactic Federation HQ to stand trial.
