LexCorp Tower, 11:30 AM
“Zatanna, Black Canary, Hawk Girl and even Wonder Woman… I must say that that is rather impressive. Not that I’d expect anything less from an esteemed Cadmus operative such as yourself, and to accomplish all of this without any clear discernible superpower; quite the feat indeed…”
Lex Luthor arched forward in his chair; placed his elbows on his desk, clasped his hands together under his chin and stared at the enigmatic woman standing before him in the middle of the room.
“Care to tell me how it was done, Morgan?”
The sharp morning light shining through the tower’s wall length window highlighted Morgan’s round and firm breasts, her razor sharp cheekbones and her impossibly slender waist. The harsh rays of the sun slicing into the room made it difficult for Lex to read Morgan’s expression, yet he could still sense the barely contained natural anger behind her eyes; to Lex, Morgan was both a sight of beauty and the embodiment of danger, which made her one of the most unique and powerful of his newly acquired assets…
Through the bleaching light, Lex thought he caught a whisper of a manic smile as Morgan began to speak and watched her intently as she took a step forward with each explanation of her previous conquests.
“Well, Zatanna was easy; if she can’t speak, she can’t win. For Black Canary, I just gave her something to scream about, and as for Wonder Woman; she shouldn’t play with kinky golden toys that force you to tell the truth…” Reaching Lex’s desk, Morgan bent over and placed her hands on the polished wood with the sickening smile that Lex had previously suspected. “You wouldn’t believe what dear old Diana told me to do to her when I asked…”
“Yes, I have heard the rumours on the state of her; and I can only assume that those rumours pale in comparison to the facts… but that isn’t what I meant.”
“Be careful, Lex. You’re not supposed to ask a girl about her darkest secrets on the first date.”
Lex narrowed his eyes, turning his expression into a stern gaze before continuing. “I don’t make habits of venturing into business deals with people and powers that I’m unfamiliar with. Supergirl is the target, she is every bit as formidable as the Man of Steel himself and I need a guarantee that you will not fail in securing her.”
“You don’t need to worry about Supergirl, Lex. I’m always prepared. All I need from you is to give me something big enough to tear down the city bank, promise me that and I’ll tell you all you need to know.” Morgan’s smile hadn’t faded, yet her tone had become increasingly insidious.
“Done. Now, show me what you are, Morgan.”
“Dim the lights, Lex…”
With the hint of a smile, Lex took his hands from under his chin, reached under his desk and flipped a switch. Behind him, the tower’s wall length window began to darken and in moments the room was plunged into a complete darkness barring one source of ethereal light…
“Do you see it now, Lex?” asked Morgan with a twisted grin and snake like tone.
Lex widened his eyes and smiled a smile as insidious as Morgan’s. “Ah, of course…”
Metropolis City Bank, 2:30 PM
The city streets of Metropolis were as they always seemed to be; full of screaming civilians. Yet despite their intensity, the panicked laments of the civilians quickly turned to cheers of joy as Supergirl flew over their heads, down the city streets and into the bank in a streak of red, blue and blonde. Before entering, Supergirl noted the smoke and dust rising from the hole in the bank’s high east corner; something had fallen from a great height and made quite the entrance and whatever that something was; it had outstayed its welcome.
“What exactly do you think you’re doing?” asked Supergirl to the hourglass figured woman operating an ugly tank-like robot with arms which was attempting to pull the bank’s vault from its hinges.
The woman, known as Morgan, in the armed tank quieted the machine and turned to face Supergirl from within its cockpit. She had razor sharp cheekbones, angry eyes and an insidious grin; her expression was unsettling to say the least for Supergirl as she tried to stare the criminal down.
“Seriously, the robot and bank don’t give it away? You’ve been fighting crime for how long?” retorted Morgan in mock confusion before turning away from Supergirl and back to the vault.
Morgan’s machine whirred back to life and continued to pry the vault from its sturdy foundations. Twisting her lips and clenching her fist Supergirl kicked the air and hurtled towards Morgan. In the split second before Supergirl could land her fist of steel against the hard metal of Morgan’s armed tank the machine spun, ripped the vault’s door from its hinges and swung it into Supergirl’s face. The force of Morgan’s attack sent Supergirl careening through the bank’s foyer and into and through a marble wall on the other side.
Morgan’s attack had caught Supergirl off guard but the shock of the impact wasn’t what suddenly burned at the forefront of Supergirl’s mind; she was in pain, the vault’s door had hurt her a lot more than it should have and she didn’t know why. Supergirl knew that she needed to end this encounter quickly, something was wrong and she didn’t want to find out what it was, super-heroines had been going missing for months now; Zatanna, Hawkgirl, Black Canary and even Wonder Woman, Supergirl didn’t want to be the next to vanish… Wiping the blood from her bottom lip, Supergirl pushed away the debris of the marble wall that had fallen in front of her and darted towards Morgan once more with enough speed which meant that nothing could intervene.
Supergirl’s fist cut the air and collided with Morgan’s tank, the pathetic sound of bones cracking on solid metal whispered on the air…
With a twisted smile, Morgan jumped from the machine’s cockpit, grabbed a frozen-with-pain Supergirl by the hair and slammed her face first into the solid marble floor of the bank from atop the tank. Supergirl lay motionless in a bed of cracked tiles and dust.
Morgan let a few minutes elapse as she stared at a seemingly unconscious Supergirl; she had expected more from Supergirl, she had at least expected her to have been able to match Wonder Woman but apparently daughters of Krypton weren’t up to much… feeling wholly disappointed Morgan stepped over Supergirl, knelt down and straddled her facedown body.
“Time to let the cat out of the bag.” said Morgan to herself as she raised her hands to her throat and pierced her flesh with her sharp fingernails.
Morgan continued to press her fingers into her throat until her fingers were submerged inside. After a few moments and with a pain-filled yet controlled breath, Morgan slowly began to retract her fingers from her newly punctured throat. With her fingers came long vein-like threads which glowed a sickly luminous green… wrapping the luminous threads around her hands, Morgan continued to pull them from the holes in her neck until they eventually saw their end and swung down to the floor from her fingers.
Grabbing both of Supergirl’s arms and crossing her wrists behind her back, Morgan began to bind the fallen heroine. The vein-like threads that Morgan had pulled from her own body were indeed veins made of kryptonite and had been the reason why Supergirl’s strength and defences had failed her. Morgan’s body was the equivalent of a Swiss army knife, she could prepare it for any endeavour or mission; all she needed to do was prepare it for the right kind of situation and in Supergirl’s case this hadn’t been difficult…
“What… are you…?” asked a barely conscious Supergirl as she feebly struggled against Morgan’s Kryptonite veins which had now been used to bind her wrists, arms and soon, once the knot was tied, her thighs.
“Made in Cadmus, babe. So ask them because they don’t tell me a damn thing.” Snarled Morgan as she pulled the knot tightly that signalled the end of the tie around Supergirl’s thighs.
Morgan’s fingernails pierced Supergirl’s shoulder as Morgan pulled her over on to her back to face her. Despite Supergirl having been thrown face first into a marble floor, of which its surface had shattered on impact, her face and body were largely without injury; Morgan tilted her head with jealously as she stared down at the fallen daughter of Krypton.
“We can help… you…” offered Supergirl weakly as she battled through the pain coursing through her body. “We can help you find out… what you armmpphh.”
“Shhhhh” said Morgan clamping her hand over Supergirl’s mouth. “This bit is tricky.”
Morgan fell silent and began to breathe deeply as Supergirl watched on silently beneath Morgan’s strong grip…
Supergirl hadn’t seen anything like it before; it was if Morgan was trying to rid herself of a very stubborn hairball, her coughing and wheezing and hissing filled the torn-up bank until eventually Morgan’s body lurched forward and a luminous green orb with tendrils fell from her mouth and into her hand that had waited patiently under her jaw.
“Uuugh, that bit… is never easy.” Sighed Morgan as she turned back to Supergirl with the orb in hand. “Open up Super-brat.”
Supergirl resisted Morgan’s forcing of the orb into her mouth but eventually succumbed to it and accepted it into her mouth begrudgingly. The tendrils, that looked to be moving on their own accord, were tied tightly around the back of Supergirl’s head which caused the corners of her mouth pain and her jaw to almost instantly ache.
Happy with her work, Morgan stood up and reached into her pocket and pulled out a cell phone. She began to dial but half way through she stopped and looked down at Supergirl, a moment or two passed while Morgan thought to herself and in the end she returned her phone to her pocket and knelt back down over Supergirl.
“I was going to take you straight back to Lex, but you have been so wholly disappointing that I’m in need of some serious fun.” Morgan turned to the bank’s main entrance. “There are gonna be a lot of cops out there with guns but they won’t shoot if they can’t get a clear shot. There are a lot of people too but no one will intervene, they think I’m dangerous, they don’t know that you’re a push over… So, at least we’ll have an audience…”
With a familiar sickly smile, Morgan grabbed Supergirl’s boots and pulled them free from her legs and feet. Dragging her up on to her bare feet, which were instantly pieced by the shattered tiles beneath them, by her long blonde hair Morgan pushed Supergirl in front of her and held onto the Kryptonite veins which bound her rival.
“Start walking, it’s a long way back to LexCorp Tower, oh, and don’t forget to smile, your audience loves you after all…”
