Dr. Blake Thompson strutted down the sterile hallway of Memorial General Hospital, the sharp clack of his Italian leather shoes announcing his presence long before his towering six-foot-three frame came into view. His perfectly coiffed blond hair caught the fluorescent light as he walked, his white coat billowing slightly behind him, a medical superhero's cape in his own mind.

"Dr. Thompson!"

Blake rolled his eyes before turning to face the voice. It was Marion Foster from Human Resources, hurrying toward him with that familiar pinched expression that typically preceded a lecture. He leaned against the wall, crossing his arms over his blue scrubs, preparing for what he assumed would be another pointless conversation.

"What can I do for you today, Marion? I've got patients waiting, important people with important problems that only I can fix." His smirk was practically a permanent fixture on his chiseled face.

Marion clutched a manila folder to their chest, taking a deep breath before speaking. "We need to discuss another complaint, Dr. Thompson. From the nursing staff."

Blake let out an exaggerated sigh. "Again? Look, just send the fine to my office like you did the last three times. I'll have my assistant write a check." He pushed himself off the wall, already turning to leave. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have actual lives to save."

"It's serious this time, Blake," Marion said, their voice firmer than usual. "We're talking potential lawsuit territory. You told Nurse Chen that her 'ass looked better than her IV technique' and asked if she 'needed a personal anatomy lesson.'"

"So? She does have a great ass. That's just scientific observation," Blake chuckled, checking his watch. "And she could use some remedial training on IV placement. I was being helpful."

Marion's face reddened. "This isn't a joke. The hospital can't keep protecting you. If we get sued, the board will have no choice but to reconsider your position here."

Blake's laugh echoed down the hallway. "Replace me? Good luck with that. I'm the best plastic surgeon in the state. I bring in more revenue than the entire orthopedic department combined. Patients wait six months just to get a consultation with me." His voice dropped to a mocking whisper. "We both know I'm untouchable."

Marion's jaw clenched. "Not anymore. The board has approved mandatory sensitivity training before you're allowed back in the OR."

"Sensitivity training?" Blake scoffed. "What, you want me to sit in a circle and talk about my feelings?"

"No. We want you to understand what it's like to be on the receiving end of your behavior. You'll be working a nursing shift on the floor. With the same nurses you've been harassing."

Blake stared at Marion for a moment before barking out a laugh. "You're joking."

"I'm not. Starting right now, you're on nursing duty for the next twelve hours."

"Fine," Blake shrugged, his confidence unshaken. "I'll take a vacation day babysitting patients if that's what it takes to get you off my back. How hard can it be? They just push meds and empty bedpans, right?" He winked.

"Maybe I'll even learn some new pickup lines."

Marion's expression remained unmoved. "We'll need your white coat, doctor. Nurses don't wear them."

"My coat?" Blake's hand instinctively went to the lapel of his symbol of his authority and status. "You can't be serious."

"Hospital policy. Only attending physicians wear white coats on the floor."

Blake's eyes narrowed. "You know what? Fine." He dramatically shrugged off his coat and let it fall to the floor in a heap. "If you want it so badly, you can pick it up yourself."

He stood there in his blue scrubs, arms crossed, a victorious smirk playing on his lips. But as the white coat hit the floor, something strange happened. A peculiar tingling sensation spread across Blake's skin, starting at his fingertips and racing up his arms.

"What the hell?" he muttered, looking down at his hands. They seemed... different. Smaller somehow, the fingers more slender. The tingling intensified, spreading across his chest, which felt suddenly tight and constricted.

Blake's body began to change before Marion's eyes. His broad shoulders narrowed and curved inward. His towering height diminished rapidly, losing inches in seconds until he stood nearly a foot shorter. His waist cinched dramatically while his hips flared outward in a distinctly feminine curve.

As his body transformed, Blake felt his scrubs shifting around him. The fabric seemed to be moving, contracting and reshaping itself to match his rapidly changing form. What had been loose-fitting medical attire now hugged a distinctly feminine silhouette, the top tightening around his narrowing torso and newly forming breasts, the pants clinging to his widening hips and slimming thighs.

"What-what's happening to me?" Blake's voice cracked, rising several octaves until it emerged as a soft, feminine alto.

The transformation continued relentlessly. Blake's face contorted, features softening and rearranging. His strong jaw receded, becoming delicate and heart-shaped. His nose shrank, turning slightly upturned at the tip. His lips plumped, filling out into a natural pout. His sharp cheekbones remained but softened into graceful curves that complemented his now almond-shaped eyes.

His short blond hair lengthened dramatically, cascading down past his shoulders in golden waves. The sensation of it brushing against his neck sent shivers down now more dramatically curved spine, which now accentuated his newly formed backside. Then, as if guided by invisible hands, his hair began to gather itself up, twisting and coiling at the back of his head. A pale blue clip materialized from nowhere, securing the elegant updo with a few loose tendrils framing his feminized face.

He staggered as the changes rushed into his chest. What had once been firm pectoral muscles now swelled outward, forming small but perky breasts that pressed against the now form-fitting fabric of his scrub top, the outline clearly visible through the material that had moments ago been loose and shapeless.

Blake gasped, the sound high and feminine in his ears. He clutched at his body, hands moving frantically over unfamiliar curves. His scrubs, once baggy and professional, now clung embarrassingly to his transformed body. The top now hugged his narrowed shoulders and emphasized his slender waist, while the pants fit snugly around his wider hips and rounded backside.

"What did you do to me?" Blake demanded, his voice now a panicked feminine pitch that sounded nothing like his own.

Marion calmly bent down and picked up the white coat. "I didn't do anything, Dr. Thompson. The spell did."

"Spell? What are you talking about? Change me back!" Blake's new hands, with their slender fingers and manicured nails, clutched desperately at Marion's arm.

"The board approved more... unconventional methods for your sensitivity training," Marion explained, brushing off the white coat with careful strokes. "This morning, a board member brought in a specialist, a witch to be specific, who bound your original form to this coat. When you removed it, well..." She gestured at Blake's new body.

"A witch? That's insane!" Blake's voice rose to a near-squeak as he tried to process what was happening. "You can't be serious. There's no such thing as-"

"Dr. Thompson, you're currently standing here with a woman's body after simply removing a coat. I think we're well past the point of debating what's possible," Marion replied dryly.

Blake looked down at himself again, taking in the sight of his transformed body in the now form-fitting scrubs. The blue fabric clung to his new curves in ways that would have made him leer if he'd seen a female nurse dressed this way. Now, it made him feel exposed and vulnerable.

"You can have the coat back after your nursing shift," Marion continued calmly. "If you complete it without a single complaint from staff or patients, you'll return to normal. If not..." She shrugged. "Well, let's hope working as a nurse is as easy as you thought because you may be doing it for a while."

Blake opened his mouth to protest when a sharp electronic beeping cut through the air. Down the hall, a patient call light flashed above a door, accompanied by the persistent alarm of an IV machine.

"That's your cue, Nurse Thompson," Marion said, folding the white coat over their arm. "IV pump alarm in room 415. Better hurry, those things get annoying fast."

Blake stared at the flashing light, then at the IV machine visible through the doorway. Despite years in medicine, he realized with dawning horror that he had no idea how to silence the alarm, let alone fix whatever was wrong with it. He'd always just called a nurse when those things went off during his rounds.

"I-I don't know how to-" he stammered, his new voice still shocking to his ears.

"Then I suggest you figure it out quickly," Marion replied. "Or ask one of your colleagues for help. The same ones you've been harassing for months. I'm sure they'll be delighted to assist you."

As if on cue, Nurse Chen walked by, giving Blake a curious look. "New nurse?" she asked Marion.

"Temporary position," Marion answered with a smile. "Blake here will be helping out today."

Nurse Chen nodded professionally, though her eyes held a hint of suspicion as she looked at Blake's form-fitting scrubs. "Well, welcome to the floor. That's Mrs. Peterson's IV alarming. She's a hard stick and gets agitated easily."

Blake felt his stomach drop as he looked toward the room. This wasn't going to be the easy "vacation day" he'd anticipated. Not even close.

"Better get moving, Blake," Marion said quietly. "Your nursing shift has officially begun."

With unsteady legs, Blake took his first steps in his new body, acutely aware of the unfamiliar sway of his hips and the bounce of his new breasts beneath his tight scrub top. The beeping of the IV grew more insistent, matching the rapid pounding of his heart.

Blake froze in the doorway, staring at the IV pump with its blinking red display and cryptic error message that may as well have been written in hieroglyphs. In all his years of medicine, he'd never once bothered to learn how these machines worked. That was nurse work, beneath his pay grade and expertise. Now, standing here in a nurse's body, he realized how arrogant that thinking had been.

This was going to be the longest twelve hours of his life.
