Tiriana crept through the underground temple, wary of traps that she might potentially trigger. The elf wore brown leather armour that exposed part of her torso, along with long gloves and thigh high boots. A belt at her waist held sheaths for two daggers, lockpicks, and a variety of other tools the adventurer needed to explore a dark and gloomy temple. Her long dark hair was held out of the way in a ponytail, exposing her pointed ears and she held a torch in one hand.
Goblins had overrun this temple long ago, using the outer halls as a home but were not smart enough to decipher the puzzles that led deeper into the temple. Tiriana had cut down a dozen goblins outside the temple and slain many more as she made her way through the passageways. Now after making her way through the first stone wall puzzle, the temple had been silent except for her own footsteps. Her focus could not waver, watching all the walls for potential arrow traps, dropping blades, and more than once she had to dodge out of the way of a trap at the last minute but she powered on, knowing the stories of the hidden gem of power hidden away deep in this temple.
The elf adventurer proceeded through two more puzzles before she finally stood in front of a stone door, decorated with carvings and with two indents that were quite familiar to her. She grinned, setting the torch down before reaching into a pouch attached to her belt and withdrawing two gemstones. Shaped like half a cone, the blue and red gems fit perfectly into the indents. There was a flash of light and a grinding sound began, Tiriana backing away from the door as the stone panels parted, revealing a chamber. Her eyes widened as she took in the gold walls, coins scattered against the walls and the large ornate chest at the center of the room. She had never seen so much treasure in a room before, but she held her excitement until she could clear the area of traps.
After checking and investigating the area and determining there were no more traps, she approached the chest. Kneeling down in front of it, she brushed a hand over the metal surface. “Finally.” She whispered. “The gem is mine! I’ll be famed throughout the lands!”
Tiriana moved her hands towards the latch but before her gloved fingers could unlock it, the latch sprang open on its own. “What the-”
She barely got the sentence out of her mouth before the lid shot open and strands of rope shot towards the stunned elf. She stumbled backwards, her hands going to her waist for her daggers but she barely had time to draw them before rope coiled around her wrists, yanking them behind her back, causing her to drop her daggers. “No!” She cried out as she fell onto her side, scrambling to get away from the treasure chest.
She was able to kick at some of the ropes, dislodging the ones that had been wrapping themselves around her legs and scramble to her feet to try and run for the exit. However she barely got 10 feet before she was stopped in her tracks. Partially due to the wrist ropes anchoring themselves to the treasure chest, forcing her to attempt to drag the not-treasure-chest along with her, but also because the decorations above the door she had come through had also sprung to life with a web of ropes now blocking the doorway out. She gulped as she struggled, turning her attention back to where she had dropped her daggers several feet behind her near the mimic. With her wrists now securely bound together behind her back, the daggers were her only chance, especially since there were more ropes snaking her way from the chest.
Tiriana glanced around quickly before dodging to the left, causing the floating ropes to dart after her and charged towards her daggers. Unfortunately, the mimic was smarter than it seemed and another set of ropes shot out and snatched the daggers up off of the ground just before she reached them. “NO!” She screamed, watching the daggers fly up teasingly out of reach.
She glared at the chest/mimic at the center of the room which had now revealed its mouth, seeming laughing at her as more rope shot towards her. It continued to toy with her for a bit, allowing her to sprint in a circle around the room in an attempt to dodge away from the ropes before the wrist ropes were yanked, causing her feet to fly out from under her and she hit the ground hard with a yelp.
Tiriana cursed, struggling to get back to her feet before her eyes widened as the ropes reached her. Despite her struggling and swearing in all the languages she knew, there was no hope. Rope surrounded her legs at the ankles, knees, and thighs, tight enough that she felt the scratchy cord through her boots. More rope surrounded her upper body, welding her arms against her back. A few strands worked their way around her head and between her lips, creating a rope cleave gag. Satisfied that its captive was secure, the mimic raised her up by her ankles, causing her to shriek as she was suspended in the air upside down. She looked around wildly, her hair falling down towards the ground. “MMMMMRRRR! RMMMMMM NNNNPH!” She shouted behind the gag.
The mimic paid her no heed as she was carried across the room by the floating rope back to where the chest stood in the middle of the room. Seeing the open maw of the mimic, all sense of bravery fled Tiriana and she screamed and struggled for all she was worth. The adventure panicked as she was lowered closer and closer to the mouth, seeing the saliva dripping off the sharp teeth and her scream was abruptly cut off as the lid slammed shut leaving no trace of the elf behind.
