“Ughhh… just five more minutes…” Ceanna mumbled, her drooling head resting upon a pillow on her night stand. Her body, meanwhile, was still dressed in the same outfit she wore last night, shoes included, and was tangled up in her sheets.

“I told you not to go out drinking on a Sunday night.” Kali replied, the dark skinned woman had one pair of arms folded across her chest, and the other pair holding her hands at her hips in a scolding stance. “At least both parts of you made it home this time.”

Ceanna and Kali are demi-humans, descendants of mythical beings who inherited some of their physical attributes but no supernatural abilities. Ceanna descends from the Dullahan, a Celtic grim reaper who carries their own disembodied head, while Kali descends from Dakshina Kālikā, the Hindu goddess of Death(among other things). The college roommates have been best friends for years, despite one of them being a fun loving slacker and the other studious and responsible, because of their inherited links to death and the hardships that came with them

“And we don’t have five minutes, we have to leave now or we’ll be late for class!” Kali said.

“Just go without me… and take good notes…” Ceanna replied before she began loudly snoring.

“You have got to be kidding me…”  Kali raked one of her four hands over her face in frustration. She loved Ceanna, but she was tired of being used as a ‘note monkey’ as she liked to call it. She almost screamed, but a devious grin spread across her face as inspiration struck, “Oh, Ceanna, you’re coming to class whether you like it or not.”

Kali picked up her friend’s sleeping head in one set of hands, and carefully carried her over to her backpack, where her free hands quickly packed up all of her school supplies before slinging it over her back. With everything she needed, she left the dorm room, and Ceanna’s body. As she walked down the halls, they did get the occasional uncomfortable stare. Most people on campus were used to their altered bodies, though some were superstitious or bigoted and didn’t trust that they were ‘powerless demis’.

Perhaps, Kali thought, it didn’t help that a descendant of a Death goddess was currently carrying around what appears to be a severed head. “Just how much did you drink last night that I can carry you down three flights of stairs without you waking up?” she asked her sleeping friend’s head, who responded only with more snoring.

When she finally opened the door and stepped outside, a blast of cold winter air hit them both, finally rousing Ceanna from her alcohol induced slumber. Her head felt the cold air  and the motion of being carried, saw the campus scenery, while her body was indoors laying in bed(hers, she hoped, she couldn't quite remember the details of last night). The unexpected contrast and disorientation was enough to jolt her awake and instantly sober her. Meanwhile, her body shot straight up into a sitting position, started fighting with the blanket that was haphazardly wrapped around her, and rolled out of bed and onto the hard tile floor in the confusion.

“Owww…” Ceanna cooed, feeling her body hit the floor from several yards away. “H-hey, what the hell’s going on? Who’s carrying me? Where’s my body?” Ceanna cried. She felt herself being lifted and turned around. When she saw Kali’s face, she breathed a sigh of relief.

“Good morning, sleepy head.” Kali said dryly, and then lowered Ceanna’s head back down to chest level so as not to obstruct her view as she walked towards the science building, where their class was. “I’m taking you to class.”

“Why couldn’t you have just let me be and let me copy your notes?” Ceanna cried.

“Because you need to learn some responsibility,” Kali said sternly, and then used one of her free hands to pinch Ceanna’s cheek, adding a more playful sounding, “And also, you’re kind of cute like this.”

It was no secret that the pair enjoyed this arrangement. The dullahan descendant had an aversion to hard work, and no one really expects much from a disembodied head. Kali, meanwhile, had inherited an extra pair of arms, which her human brain didn’t always know what to do with. Having her friend’s head to hold on to solved both their problems at the same time.

“Okay, fine,” Ceanna giggled, her blush hiding the red mark from where she was pinched, “But uh, my body IS in our dorm room, right?”

“Yeah.”

“Phew, good.”

They arrived at their class, Demi-human Anatomy and Physiology. It wasn’t a required course for either of their majors, but both decided to take it together as an elective to bond over and perhaps learn something about themselves. Kali gently set Ceanna’s head down on her desk, careful not to remove her lower hands from her until she was sure the disembodied head was balancing properly on her neck stump. Afterwards, she sat down and used her four arms to rapidly set up her desk just the way she liked it, albeit making space for her friend’s head, who thankfully was wearing her hair in what would be shoulder length if she were attached to said shoulders.

“Ha, leave it to an airHEAD like Ceanna to forget to bring her anatomy to anatomy and physiology!” One of the other students said, causing a smattering of laughter throughout the classroom.

“Yeah yeah, laugh it up,” Ceanna said, then slipped into a faux old english accent,  “But ye best watch thine tongue around those who descend from death, lest I call upon mine ancestors to take revenge on ye!”

“C-can they do that?” one of the students asks.

“I don’t know, maybe?”

“We’re sorry, please don’t have us murdered!”

Kali had all four of her hands covering her face in an attempt to hide the fact she was trying her hardest not to laugh, while Ceanna’s head sat there with a contented, smug grin of absolute victory on her face. Finally, the professor showed up.

At one point during the lecture, the professor’s droning combined with Ceanna’s body being tucked comfortably in bed caused her to fall back asleep. The professor stopped writing on the whiteboard when he heard the snoring, diverting the entire class’s attention to the sleeping head.

“Damn it, Ceanna,” Kali sighed, and flicked the dullahan’s ear.

The sudden strike of pain caused her to wake up and topple over, she made a very undignified scream as her head rolled off of Kali’s desk. Kali, thankfully, had the reflexes to have one of her lower arms grab her head before it hit the ground.

The class began to laugh at the poor head’s misfortune, and Ceanna realized as she was being placed back down on the desk, that her sharp tongue wouldn’t get her out of this one like it did earlier. After that embarrassment, the rest of the class was uneventful and informative.

After class, Kali was once again carrying Ceanna’s head in her lower hands, with her upper hands gripping the straps of her backpack. Ceanna piped up when she noticed they were not headed for the dorms.

“Hey, where are we going?”

“Student union.” Kali replied.

“You’re not taking me back to my body?”

“Well, our dorm is aaaaallll the way on the other side of campus, and it’s cold out, and I’m hungry, and the student union is like, right there,” she pointed with one of her upper arms, “I don’t feel like walking all the way to the dorm and back.”

“Okay, that’s fair, but you’re gonna have to feed me. I’m hungry, too!”

“Deal.”

They entered the cafeteria. Kali found an empty table and placed Ceanna’s head and her backpack on it. “Here, save our seats, I’ll get us food.”

So Ceanna sat there, completely helpless, not sure what she would do if someone actually tried to take their table. She enjoyed going out as just a head, as long as Kali was watching over her. Being an unsupervised head in public, however, made her nervous, as there was nothing she could do to defend herself unless someone was dumb enough to put their finger in her mouth.

She nervously licked her lips while her pupils darted back and forth, hoping for Kali’s quick return, when a figure suddenly stepped into her field of vision. They were too close for her to see their face, but the features of the body were unmistakable. Long legs, wide hips, hourglass figure, breasts as large as her head, but even more remarkable than the ideal feminine features were the black tail tipped with a heart-shaped barb and a pair of vestigial bat-like wings protruding from her back.

“Well, well, well, why if it isn’t the little dullahan girl from the Alpha Sigma Beta party.” Ceanna heard the sultry voice before she felt the woman grab a handful of her hair and violently lift her head up to eye level, where Ceanna saw a familiar beautiful face accented by a pair of small black horns growing out of her forehead.

“Oh, hi, Konoko,” Ceanna said to the Succubus descendant. She tried to remain calm despite being scared without Kali or her body and the rough way she was being handled, “Sorry, but I’m saving this table. Go sit somewhere else.”

“Or what?” Konoko grinned, “You gonna bite my ankles?” she laughed and then began tossing Ceanna’s head up and down, “Not so hot when you’re just a head, huh?”

“WAAH, okay I’m so- WAAH rry, WAAAHH, now please put WAAHHH, my head down! WAAAH” Ceanna cried as she felt herself rising and falling in the air. “KALI HELP ME!”

At this point the commotion had drawn a crowd, but no one was quite sure what to do in this absurd situation. Would getting involved in a fight between two demi humans get them cursed? Would saving a Dullahan’s head get them rewarded? Everyone decided to simply play it safe and stay back.

“What the hell is going on here?” Kali finally arrived, pushing using one pair of arms to hold a tray of breakfast food above her head and the crowd, and the other pair to push her way through said crowd.

Upon her arrival, Konoko stopped tossing Ceanna’s head and held her upside down. She nonchalantly said, “We were just having a discussion about something that happened a couple weeks ago, nothing that concerns you.”

“If you were trying to hurt my friend, then it does concern me.” Kali said. She was normally a quiet girl, but being a four armed descendant of death, she could be intimidating if she wanted to. The glare she gave Konoko made the Succubus step back.

“Just put me down and leave us alone, you bitch!” the still upside down head of Ceanna spat.

Konoko’s startled face looked at Ceanna and then grinned, regaining her confidence. “Okay, fine, have it your way.”

Konoko tossed Ceanna’s head at Kali, who out of instinct dropped the food tray in order to catch Ceanna’s head safely in her arms. Ceanna breathed a sigh of relief when she felt the four friendly arms wrapped firmly around her, squishing her into Kali’s chest. “I’m sorry I got you dragged into that.”

Konoko and the crowd left, leaving Kali alone with Ceanna’s head and their ruined breakfast.

“It’s okay,” Kali said. She was now on her knees, holding Ceanna’s head in her upper arms while her lower arms started picking up the mess that was made during the kerfuffle.

“Hey, I’d help you pick that up, but you know, I left my hands back at the dorm!” Ceanna laughed, pointing down with her eyes where her body should be.

“Oh, har har,” Kali then asked, “What was her problem, anyways?”

“Oh, that?” Ceanna chuckled nervously, “Well, a couple weeks ago, I was at some frat party, and I saw her chatting up some guy, clearly they were into each other, so as soon as she leaves him to go get another drink, I go up to him and say, ‘Succubuses might have the best bodies, but us Dullahan give the best head!’ and he leaves the party with me!”

“Why would you do that?” Kali asked, placing Ceanna’s head back down on the table to free up all of her hands to pick up the mess.

“Because Succubuses are so damn annoying!” Ceanna groaned, “They always think they’re at the top of the sex pyramid, so whenever I get a chance to knock one down a peg, I take it.”

“That seems awfully petty,” Kali remarked, but then smiled, “But still, stealing a guy from a Succubus is an impressive feat!”

“And don’t you forget it!”

~~~~~~~~
After the mess was cleaned and a replacement meal was retrieved, Kali finally sat down for breakfast. They started with waffles, and Kali was able to use her two pairs of arms to feed both herself and Ceanna simultaneously. Before long, they heard a friendly voice.
“Hey, Kali and Ceanna!” Beatrice, one of their few human friends, greeted them, “Or Kali and some of Ceanna.”
“Oh, is that Bea?” Ceanna asked, unable to see with her face pointed at Kali’s chest.
“Indeed it is!” Bea replied, picking up Ceanna’s head and giving her a quick peck on the cheek, “My, your hair is a mess!” she said, now having a closer look at the Dullahan.
“Yeah, well, SOMEONE took my head before I had a chance to get all made up.”
“Only because SOMEONE was too hung over to get her ass out of bed.” Kali chimed in.
“My ass is still in bed!” Ceanna laughed, “Care to join us for breakfast, Bea?”
“Sure, and let me fix your hair while I’m at it.”
Ceanna now had Kali feeding her, Bea brushing her hair, and her body back in the dorm room, cuddled up warmly in bed on this cold winter day. “You know, I could get used to this…” Ceanna remarked between bites. The decadence of being hand fed, the massaging bristles of the brush across her scalp, and the warm embrace of her covers were too much. She absentmindedly slipped a hand into her panties. Her face turned red and she began to moan.
“Oh. My. God. Are you…” Kali stared accusingly at Ceanna.
“Hah! I think she is!” Bea cut her off.
Ceanna’s face turned an ever darker red, this time out of embarrassment. She instinctively retracted her hand from between her legs even though no one was there to witness the actual deed. “Well, uh, you see, it’s not what it looks like. I, uh, really have to go to the bathroom and I can’t find it headless.” Ceanna lied, poorly.
“I call bull. You leave your head in the common room watching TV while your body goes to the bathroom all the time.” Kalli pointed out.
When Ceanna opened her mouth to respond, Bea suddenly jammed an apple in it. “There, now you can flick the bean all you want without bothering anyone. It’s okay, I won’t judge, I’d do it too if I could.”
Ceanna said something indecipherable, her eyes glaring angrily at Kali and Bea, before her pupils rolled back into her head, apparently having taken Bea’s advice.
