Proteins are chains of amino acid fragments. Depending on how they're constructed, they fold in on themselves into unique shapes. Some are "meant" to fit together with others, binding to make something happen. Sometimes a protein isn't built quite right and is mis-folded...a few diseases result from that, which sucks.
But down there at the bottom, underneath it all, do proteins hurt? Can they somehow realize they'll never find their partner, and wander, lost in endless longing, for completeness they don't really believe will ever come?
All because they're not shaped quite right?
