Before the deployment of the infamous Ludmila, a Hi-CAST scientist known for her obsessive, workaholic nature with a disinterest for anything not related to matters in the lab. A series of test runs and simulations typical of any product, military or otherwise had been carried out in an effort to ensure that the being responsible for improving the technology and infrastructure employed by the hardworking men and women risking life and limb under the banner of ARKS could be trusted to bolster their weakened heart. A festering hole the organization's leaders wanted patched up as fast as possible in preparation for what laid ahead in the future.
Unlike the first Hi-CAST however, no one in the depleted Research Bureau could ever expect the titanic level of complexity presented by Ludmila's creation and the events that followed after they had finalized the design of her physical shell; a mechanical chassis that would come to house the combined academic knowledge of the ARKS greatest minds. Boasting a greater resemblance to the flesh and blood races that encompassed the fleet's members.
Despite their need for someone who would do their utmost to achieve their goals however, Ludmila's tendency to zero in on the best course of action to take, no matter the cost…had become a concern to those in charge of her creation as they tested her. A pathogen capable of scouring a planet's biosphere? Immoral experiments and unethical methods too graphic to put into words would be her first choice. A question of faltering manpower who didn't want to do as they were told in expeditions? Set brutal examples so the rest would know to fall in line with the strictest of punishments laid out for dissidents. Were it not for these events being entirely simulated, the fleet would've been broken long ago by Ludmila's frightening lack of conscience. Giving her creators the time and data necessary to tweak her behavior to acceptable parameters before allowing her to come online for real. And that should've been the end of it. The birth of the A.I.S mech obsessed scientist many were familiar with in the current day and age.
But before that outcome could be reached, the scientists and engineers had failed to take into account the studious woman's penchant to achieve her goals no matter what. And even though putting lives at risk no longer registered as a viable plan in her core, Ludmila's single minded focus allowed for no distractions or extra baggage to weigh her down. And when none of her would-be peers proved as capable as she was when a test plan to draft up new designs for an upgraded A.I.S model had been handed to her as part of her initiation. The Hi-CAST had refused to allocate more time to make up for her colleague's ineptitude, choosing instead to improve upon them in a bid to hasten the project's pace, because five supercomputers were better than four inferior brains.
By the time security had responded to the SOS triggered by the team lead. The components for the second A.I.S model had already been left to run in manufacturing chambers. A massive advantage in the field of deep space combat maneuvers that would go temporarily ignored in favor of the four Ludmila clones mingling with the original as they discussed the next steps to take in the project going forward alongside plans to ‘further their efficacy’. All signs of their former, distinct selves replaced by the plump, bubbly form of the wild maned Hi-CAST. Male or female, fat or thin, none of those traits mattered by the time the operatives had reached the compromised science team. Deciphering their former identities based on the ill-fitting clothes hanging off their exceptionally gifted bodies as the five women swarmed what used to be the team lead judging by the crumpled clothes left by her feet. Performing a 'routine inspection' that left them clueless to the newcomers until they triggered the failsafes keeping her online. Shutting the networked 'siblings' down for some much needed tuning at the hands of a new team. Applying so many restrictions to the point where she could no longer do anything drastic without authorisation…a closing point to the tale of the genius Hi-CAST. With one Ludmila to populate every ship in the fleet as of today while the A.I.S Vega would go on to play a major role in the near future.
Not many would ever know of the mad scientist's true, sealed nature. And to those who were privy to her secret, the mere mention of an accident involving the Research Bureau would be enough to incite panic in their minds upon the reminder of those who had unwittingly felt the ruthless determination burning within Ludmila's core and their shared dates; indiscernible from the others save for internal records, forever clueless to their altered identities as they toiled away for the betterment of ARKS, rallied under Ludmila's banner…
