Those were the words your friend had proudly shouted before heading out the doors earlier today. The time now was currently well past eleven…in the evening...and he had yet to return home, probably gotten himself drunk…or maybe he’d even found a new group to hang with…you couldn’t help the dour feeling building inside your chest, that of inferiority.

You were just one person after all…and you wouldn’t be afraid to admit that social gatherings weren’t your thing, that was why you liked one-on-one scenarios, something you had hoped to share in once more with your best friend tonight, although that didn’t seem like a possibility as you down a cup of alcohol, staring at the ticking clock as it’s hand moves ever closer toward midnight, thinking back on previous years and how he had celebrated Christmas Eve.

Reminiscing super hard on old events only served to stir up old childhood tales, ones relating to the myth of Santa Claus and his favored method of entering ones home through the chimney…making you wonder in a childish moment if he would come by tonight…there were some cookies in the pantry after all…and with some milk in the fridge, you were tempted to test the tales of leaving tribute for the man of the hour…
