The city had changed. Whereas before, the city of Telion had been the most corrupt city this side of the country, she had put a stop to it.

Almighty

*BOOM*

She was a hero, or well, was. Said to be invincible and her strength had no known upper limits. She had been the only good thing in Telion for longer than anyone had known. A shining example of why heroes were needed.

Then she went too far.

“Stand down!”

People never died from her, never. There were rumors about it, but nothing of the sort had happened, just grievous injuries and massive destruction of property. Compared to other superheroes and vigilantes, it was much better than the norm.

“Fuck it! Open fire!”

It had all started out innocently enough. Suddenly, the most corrupt city had started to turn around. There was less crime, politicians being less corrupt, judges actually being worth a damn, and more and more positive changes. The world hadn’t believed the news of course, it wouldn’t be the first time a marketing campaign had happened to try and lure in fools and the less informed to the city due to their “population overturn.” It made Goldsmith want to spit as he remembered them coining the term. That amount of death should only be seen during wars.

He heard the sound of what could only be sniper bullets but he knew they’d be just as useless.

But it was all true this time. Almighty had found a way to save the most corrupt city, a title Telion had hung onto for decades and decades. It was months before anyone so much as considered it was true and probably half a year before people started rejoicing that Almighty had done it. Had saved the city. This was true. Regardless of her methods, she had succeeded.

The problems came after.

As more people flooded the city, as the Hero’s Association actually managed to get a foot in the door of it, they started to learn how she had managed to save the city. It was simple, ruthless, and disgusting. Though no one had considered the degree, at first.

Torture. Or specifically, mass sexual assault.

Corrupt judge? Rape him. Corrupt politician? Rape them. Murderer? Rape them and throw them into prison. Etc etc, repeated, constantly. For at least half a year. What pissed Goldsmith off so much was 2 things. One, was that it had worked. An incredibly powerful, invincible woman had just come down, raped people, and they had stopped being awful out of fear and trauma. That flew in the face of everything he stood for. He was a Hero, damn it. He was a senior of the Hero Association, of course he knew how power worked. He had made senior partially because of how powerful he was. You can’t make change without it. And Almighty had tried for years the “right way” with no success and the second she did things the “wrong way” it had worked. It flew in the face of his desired world view. Spit on it. Told him that you gotta get your hands dirty if you ever wanted to do real change. He hated that and had no argument to fight against it. He spent months after learning her methods, battling within himself, trying to think about how he could’ve done better, how he could’ve fixed things in her place, done as good a job as she did. He never could think of anything. Not even imagining himself with her power set.

“Fire the missiles!”

‘Missles already? Not a good sign.’

The second thing that had pissed him off, was the bias. The upper levels of the Hero Association knew her secret, how she had raped everyone into submission and returned and been quite “forceful” to repeat offenders. But they hadn’t looked into it heavily, what would that have served, to know the full grisly details? There were detectives in the Hero Association but they were more force and restriction than investigation agency. Not like this, at least. So most had waved it away, and been utterly shocked, not only because of the how, but that people would do it after being raped by a woman.

Ah, sexism, alive and well even in this day and age.

The upper command seemed to do a 180 when they learned that Almighty was a Futanari. Suddenly, it was “apprehensible” and “disgusting”. As if it hadn’t been before. He was personally trying to get a few people fired over that but he doubted it’d go his way. It was enough if they just didn’t let shit like this happen again.

*BOOM*

“No damage!” one of the young men yelled.

Of course, all of that said, The Hero Association would have looked the other way. One woman had done a job they couldn’t do for decades, methods be damned. Even if she shouted her methods to the public, few would care without knowledge of her actual gender and few would care even then.

No, the problem was that she didn’t stop.

The city was safe, corruption had dropped to unheard levels, The Hero Association was here and putting things in place to prevent a resurgence and continue what she had started, etc. But she didn’t stop.

When she ran out of corrupt politicians and judges and police officers, she went for murderers and rapists and other horrible criminals. Far more diplomatic heroes in the know had tried to talk her out of it, begged her, beseeched her to stop and change her ways.

And there had been lulls, where she did stop, as far as everyone was aware. Where she would just put people away and that was it. But she’d been poisoned for too long with it, had done too much. The evil was in her system and change is hardly an easy road to take. She would “relapse”. It’s a disgusting way to say what she would do to people, diminish it. As if it was a personal failing like getting addicted to drugs as opposed to one of the worst crimes a human can commit against another. Goldsmith was very specifically told not to approach Almighty. And he hadn’t, he trusted the system.

Until it all broke down one day.

They had tried to cover it up, the rats, but it hadn’t lasted for long.

She had attacked someone again. Not a mafia crime lord or a serial killer this time. No, this was a regular thief. His crime? Stealing some money from a cash register.

That was when Goldsmith knew it was time to bring her in.

The young commander gulped beside him.

“She’s coming.”

Standing before him, clothes destroyed by the fire, explosions and bullets, she stood nude as the day she was born.

Almighty

“Stand down.” Goldsmith tried again.

“Save a whole damn city and what do I get for it? A medal? Nooo. A nice retirement with a mansion? Nooooo. A missile in my face for no reason? Yes apparently.”

“Don’t pretend you don’t know what you’ve done.”

“They deserve it! It’s not like I’m attacking innocent people now, come on. Besides, I’ve been trying to do the slow way you other heroes do it but I gotta say, not impressed so far.”

Goldsmith grit his teeth. She had to be brought down but a fight was honestly the last thing he wanted. The missiles were mainly to try and shock her awake by the seriousness of the situation than any actual harm. At least she hadn’t flown into a rage yet.

“A common thief deserves to be brutally raped by one of the strongest people on the planet? Even if it wasn’t illegal, can’t say you have the moral high ground there Almighty.”

She simply waved her hand back and forth in the air as if dissipating something.

“Yeah yeah, law and all that. Sorry if my respect for laws went out the window around the time I saw a politician push a “Allowed to shoot dogs for barking” law a few years back after getting bit by one. Or how about the one that ruined the sewer system that I have to trudge through few days? Or the many that were passed purely so corrupt pigs could try to throw in my prison so they could continue being horrible pieces of shit? Yeah, fuck the Laws.

Goldsmith was currently mentally hating this city more and more. She didn’t even see it, didn’t even realize she had become the worst one out of everyone, or was, slowly. She had essentially been in a shithole since she was born and seen things far worse than he ever could imagine. And she had decided, with all her power, to fix it. Goldsmith would always respect that even if he needed to do what was right.

“And the guy?” Almighty said. Almighty’s eyes seemed to harden into steel and she spoke with what felt like the cold heat of the universe. A rasp of death mixed in, like entropy. As if a Dark God was exhausted and speaking down their commandments.

“I’m tired of it. That’s how it starts. How it always starts. Some thievery here, some thievery there. Then you join a gang, you rise up if you survive. Maybe commit a few murders, a few rapes here and there. You start to rise up and then you have some decisions. If you’re an idiot you stay a gang leader and eventually get taken out by another gang. If you think you’re smarter than you actually are and get lucky, you become a politican. If you are smart, you become a mafia and if you’re more brute force and love the authority, you become a police officer. And let’s not forget the myriad of options after each of one of those options. And I’ve seen it happen again. And again. And again. And again.”

Each sentence was punctuated by a hard step from Almighty as she walked towards him. Enough to shake the concrete underneath his feet.

“Do you know how long I’ve tried to fix this city?”

“5 years.” Goldsmith replied. Her debut had been, explosive and people had reported on it and never stopped. A hero in this city was incredible enough but one so powerful was even more of a piece. She was even rumored to be the strongest hero since no one had ever seen anything that could hurt her.

“Wrong.” She said with all the tone of a buzzer from a game show.

“Try 13.”

13? That number felt, important. He had of course taken some history over the city when he’d been deployed here but 13 years ago was…

He let out a gasp.

“The explosion?”

Thirteen years ago Telion had actually been far worse. It was more war zone than corrupt. What had cut that in half had been one of the many disasters at the time. Supervillains were sadly not unique. One had arisen and dropped a meteor on the city. It had destroyed half of it. Even for the corrupt city, that was too far. It had been an unheard of collaboration, by nearly everyone in the city, to rebuild. To repair. Outside builders with powers were paid, things were rebuilt, the villain had even died to his own attack. It was the closest thing that Telion had ever gotten to a rebirth.

And they had squandered it and gone right back to being awful.

If what Almighty said was true, she had literally seen the best this city had to offer and seen it go to shit. And apparently, tried to help the city either in secret or without powers for 8 years before she became a hero.

“I was a student then. And then there was nothing. I think I passed out, I’m not sure. But I woke up and there was nothing but rock and darkness. I was being crushed, not even room to move an inch, but I still managed to claw my way out. It was only weeks later I learned that I had apparently been hit by a meteor and everyone I knew was dead. I came out and it was beautiful. People offered me clothes, everyone was being nice, everyone was trying to rebuild with grim looks on their faces. I had never seen a united Telion before.

And it didn’t last.”

She had stopped walking now, only a few feet from Goldsmith. He was enthralled by her story, the origins know no one knew about, about where she had mysteriously came from. He was also rapidly reassessing if she actually was invincible, and his chances, if she could survive a meteor to the head.

“I tried things the regular way at first. I was strong and I could survive stuff, big whoop. Everything I knew was gone but I honestly would have taken that deal if this small section of humanity decided to start acting like humans. I saw it started sliding back and decided, of all things, to try and be a construction worker. I hoped that we could all keep rebuilding, that they’d see someone going through so much effort to help and become better. I was a teen, I was stupid.”

“Then, I tried to get accepted to the police force. I was refused. I eventually landed on trying to get the Hero’s Association here, before things got really bad. As did other people. They refused.”

She stared at him with some heat here and he had to grimace. Goldsmith was old, around 60 or so. He was there at the time. The Hero Association was spread thin as it was and didn’t want to commit the resources for a historically bad city. Even with the destruction, it was kinda, final. All those people were gone, all that infrastructure was gone. There was hardly anyone suffering besides from grief. He had thought there were no survivors from the disaster itself. So they had helped repair but that’s it. It was a golden opportunity they had ignored because it was easy and there were better ways to help the world at the time. He hadn’t been senior management at the time but he had understood the reasons behind the decision.

“Nurse. Lobbyist. Entrepreneur. Philanthropist.”

He walked closer, only a few feet away from him.

“Hero.”

She was a hands width away.

“Villian.”

Goldsmith’s heart started to race and he clenched his teeth.

“It’s funny how the last one seemed to work huh?”

“It is. Are we doing this?”

“We are.”

There was no more time for thought as Goldsmith suddenly found himself nearly a full mile into the air after Almighty uppercut him. He was strong, he had been a hero for a long time with a single power. Telekinesis. He was, theoretically, the perfect counter to Almighty. No force could reach him, he would just cancel out the kinetics of it. He was able to fly, be a long ranged attacker, and stop bullets dead yet he had still been launched by Almighty’s punch. He did stop the force, but not completely apparently. He hadn’t felt a thing, or was dead, at least.

It was the best start he could’ve hoped for as, despite the numerous memorabilia and promotion surrounding it, Almighty could not fly. They had been smart enough to lure her outside the city before starting their assault, it hadn’t been that hard really. The Hero Association just asked her to check out part of the destroyed city that was left. Hopefully she wouldn’t hold that against them.

He was preparing to try to suppress her and get his bearings when he saw her launch up at him. She wasn’t able to fly.

But boy, could she jump.

He hit her with the equivalent of a building and she thankfully started to fall.

Until she kicked the air, that is.

No one knew how strong Almighty was, 99% of the criminals she had fought hadn’t need what her powers could provide. She would be a far better force against certain supervillians that had taken over areas but she had remained in Telion this whole time. So, she had never truly stretched her powers or at least shown them to people.

That was the thought running through Goldsmith’s mind when he saw her kick open air enough to start traveling back at him. It wasn’t steady, it wasn’t pretty, but through the force of her kicks alone she was flying. Her legs were blurs and the impact with the air sounded like sonic booms.

Goldsmith decided to stop messing around before he accidentally ended up dead. He, after all, wasn’t known to be invincible. He smashed her into the ground and it was so fast that he couldn’t track it with his eyes. It practically seemed like teleportation. He didn’t have a good measure of how hard he had just hit but judging by the sinkhole that was slowly forming and the flattened pieces of rubble, he’d say pretty damn hard.

His job wasn’t to kill her and he doubted he had succeeded in that, just to restrain her. Put her in a bubble of nullifying force and just lock her down. That was much easier if she wasn’t moving.

He tried to move her around through the connection he could feel but he blinked as he suddenly lost her. He couldn’t feel where she had gone. He searched and moved his telekinetic sense around but it was like she had vanished. That was untill an explosion seemed to happen and she was suddenly right in front of him.

The ground, she had crawled through the ground and burst up from somewhere else.

He saw the fist being pulled back and went as full out to try and stop it from doing anything. He failed, as he was suddenly embedded deep into the rock. Before he could dig himself out everything was vaporized around him as a body slammed into him. He was thankful he hadn’t slacked in the slightest on his nullification, especially as he was presumably punched thousands of times a second. He couldn’t tell, because like helicopter blades, Almighty was moving too fast for his eyes to see. It was barely a blur. He could see the earth around him look like it was just vanishing and how he seemed to constantly be going down. After her legs had created sonic boom, he had been smart to nullify even the force from air so he didn’t die from the sound but it was entirely a one sided beating. Luckily, he just needed to survive long enough to wrap her in a bubble. She couldn’t actually hurt him and it almost seemed like she wasn’t trying.

Oh sure, most humans and superhumans would be dead 100 times over by now but she wasn’t trying anything new, just absolutely wailing on him, like he was the world’s biggest stress ball.

However, he was starting to get pretty scared. He knew Almighty was strong but he had been more worried about her supposed invincibility. But, this? Her punches were landing harder. It wasn’t just strength in abstract like a normal human punch as if it had more weight behind it, it was stronger in every way. That meant speed. She was throwing her arms at speeds that would’ve caused a normal humans limbs to simply die, end of story. Her invincibility was stopping that and he got the sinking feeling they were landing harder than they should, even with the speed counted for.

And she was getting into it. At first, the artificial cave she had been making had been a tunnel, but it was growing. A cavern, a chasm, more. He still needed air to breathe and his bubble didn’t have an infinite amount of that. At this rate, he’d be so deep there simply wouldn’t be any air that could reach him.

Luckily, he had to only extend his force in a single direction. They were moving too fast for anything easy, good, or fancy but he was just about-

Her punches stopped.

Done.

Well, her punches hadn’t actually stopped, she was punching in front of her right now. They just weren’t doing any good because they were landing on a nullification field around her. Goldsmith wasn’t stupid, he didn’t lower his shield or force in any way, not even to top off his air supply. He wanted to live to see through today and showing any weakness at all might end badly.

Almighty’s arms were still a blur, but then her legs became ones too and then her whole body. She was moving just that fast. She hadn’t shown an ability to keep up with fast moving targets before but, then again, maybe there was just no cause. That made him frown. She had been caught by nets before. Hit by bullets. She would have moved past them if she could track them. Something wasn’t adding up with her powers and he was honestly scared to find out. He would mention it to the people who had designed her cell. It took an incredible amount of time and power to create a cell capable of holding certain villains but they had been prepared for “strong” ones for ages.

She stopped. She stopped and just glared at him before she started… clapping?

Wide armed, arms full back, clapping. Definitely not congratulating him.

The claps were getting faster.

He didn’t know what she was trying to do but he decided that getting her to her cell took priority and immediate priority at that.

The clapping didn’t stop. Goldsmith, sadly, wasn’t an expert on physics. He understood force, intimately, but he was trying to figure out what she could be trying to do. Two hands clapping create shockwaves, sure, in a tight bubble like this, she’s probably already messed up the air badly enough she shouldn’t be able to breathe but that clearly wasn’t-

A bomb.

A bomb was force in a container. The force had nowhere to go, he wasn’t completely nullifying all force existing in the bubble, just any that hit that touched the sides. Judging by how fast and how strong her punches had been, the force and pressure inside the bubble must be extreme. The second he lets her out, or even opens it a little, they’ll be an explosion as all that force that’s not being nullified has to go somewhere. It might actually be worse than that as the air itself was being nullified as it hit the sides.

Now Goldsmith had really wished he’d studied physics just to get some idea of how bad this was going to be. It should, should still be fine, if he gets her into a nullifying cell but-

He was starting to feel heat.

He looked back at her, as they were currently flying through the sky and couldn’t see her. Her arms were practically invisible for how fast they were moving but her entire form looked, wavy in the bubble. She was producing heat from how hard she was hitting herself. And he was starting to feel it. They weren’t going to make it like this, not before she was a glowing supernova seeing as it didn’t look like she had a limited amount of strength. He flew fast and sent her flying through the sky before he unleashed the bubble.

It was like a nuclear explosion.

He didn’t understand the mechanics involved but he knew what he could see. He had released her bubble far, far away from him and he feared it wasn’t far enough as everything for a few miles was flattened, destroyed, and vaporized.

Almighty landed nearby, strangely bald, and looking extremely pissed.

The fear of death went down Goldsmith’s spine as he could now feel the heat coming from her, even from a distance. She was literally too hot to be around. If she came back at him, now, he might just die.

But thankfully, she seemed to see the look on his expression and just gave the middle finger before jumping away, thankfully, not towards the city.

Goldsmith had lost this one.
