[Features: Comedy, monstergirl, a slime girl, a bit janky, a dumb hero]
Malorp was having a good day. She had gotten a little faster at moving side to side and was pretty happy about it. She had also almost learned a letter, she thinks, maybe. She was having some difficulty, given that her race wasn’t exactly known for their booksmarts.
Malorp was a slime girl. A red slime girl but still, that hadn’t really caused much change in her.
Slime girls were dungeon standard as far as monster girls went. They were an original race, surprisingly enough. But more on that later. They were slow, dumb, can barely attack, and barely any good in numbers. Their only positive combat abilities were… maybe as a distraction?… maybe? Utterly weak is something that slimes were just known as being flat, I mean, they were made out of slime. Not the hardiest of materials.
For every 1 element slime, there were 10,000 normal slime girls. The numbers only got worse for metal slimes, queen slimes and then finally, and there had only been 3 in history so far, Overlord slimes.
Malorp was none of that. She was as normal and weak as they came. But! But! She had landed herself a good job! Well, until she was defeated by the hero, that is. Luckily, that almost never happened. Sadly, a hero had recently emerged.
The human race and the monster girl race had some, difficult, history. There had been wars. So many wars. Some of, many of, the older monster girls can remember them. Their goddesses had pitted the two races against each other, until a lucky line of heroes had put a stop to it. Had resisted with all their might and miraculously been lucky enough to convince the Demon Queens at the time to go along with it. Malorp didn’t know all the history, just the Sylvie said that it was brutal but she hadn’t been there either. No one was that old… right?
Anyway, after all of that, finally, the wars went from total annihilation to more like two countries fighting each other, until finally, in the last few hundred years, enough treaties and smart and greedy humans (as Sylvie put it), manipulated by good humans, had forced them to see reason. It was… scary. Humans were scary. A regular human woman could probably have a 50/50 chance of killing her. And now with the hero being summoned… would he ruin everything?
That’s what scared Malorp and everyone the most. Well, that and she might be the first to die. Heroes traditionally killed everything in their way, even when they were against the humans. Humans had only needed that lesson taught a few times to never be against a hero. Monstergirl Society hadn’t been that lucky. Heroes also always started the same, if they didn’t break the rules. They went through the weakest areas of the Demon Queen island, then eventually fought the Demon Queen. That had been the 1st treaty. (Malorp found history really interesting, unlike the rest of the slime girls and wind nymphs. It was the best class! She dreamed of becoming like an Overlord slime one day… if only.) Basically, the rest of society gets to be left alone but this island becomes the battle ground for human and monstergirl forces to prevent the world from being destroyed.
Malorp had been born on that island from a slime queen. She then had decided the best thing to do was become a dungeon monster. She was… stupid. It pained her, but she knew, she was really really stupid. Smarter than the other slime girls but, she had trouble counting, hadn’t learned how to read yet, and didn’t understand anything. Not how slimes were made, not how metal worked, not, not anything. On the other hand, she was lauded as a good decision maker, even if they were simple. Apparently most slime girls weren’t “introspective” or “self improving” as Sylvie said. Still, she felt stupid. She was an adult by slime standards and yet a human child had her beat in brains. But she wouldn’t give up! Well, she might die soon…
Malorp had enjoyed her dungeon life. Her job had been to clean. All she had to do was walk around the front entrance floor, sliming over the floors but not leave her slime behind. Simple, kinda. Some of the others still hadn’t gotten it, even after all these years though… Still, she had friends and family here, like her 122 sister slimes who had also gone to the dungeon. Sylvie, the boss who told her to do the things and gave her lessons in exchange, and there was good food, like apples. It was great.
And then a hero was announced and she became “The first monster” and her home had become “The first dungeon”. Sylvie had actually started crying when the hero was announced. Malorp realized she was probably going to die. The last few heroes had been good, but, The Light Goddess and The Dark Goddess had apparently hated that. So, the chances this hero would be nice was…
“I will defeat you slime!”
…slime, she thought as her core froze and she nearly became a puddle on the floor. Standing in front of her, with a youthful face and striking red hair, was a young man. He had on basic blue steel armor, a sword and a shield. Both seemed to gleam in the light, from whatever materials they were made of. They looked like steel but who knew.
The hero had come for her. She was going to die. This was all her life had built up to. Death by a powerful human blessed by a Goddess.
Something in Malorp snapped that day.
“You think you will defeat me, pitiful hero?! You are a fool, to believe yourself so mighty before one such as I!”
