YaY! After nearly a year (Christmas doesn't count), I haz written something.
This was practice. Practice of:
1) using past tense
2) stopping the action
3) filling with description
I am aware that there are excessive, blatant similes; probably mixed verb tense (switching from present is so hard); and a lot of work to be done. I'm okay with that.
If any of you want to chime in with little fixes like, "Put this between those" or "if you would have said it like this it would sound better" or "why don't you try this type of sentence", I would greatly appreciate it.
No, the guy doesn't have a name. I don't know if I am going to continue it. Yes, it was named after a chapter in Stephen King's On Writing. The actual telepathy at the end was added later and was not part of the original dream. The dream ended at entering the cave. (And the Title of the Story came before it all.)
And for those of you wondering what the big deal is ... In my old style, All I would have said is, "He clamored up the rocks to the waterfall and stepped in the cave."
