TG Race Week 2 Day 2c
“Dogged in the Desert”

zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!

Light blinds their eyes. “What’s going on,” Tracey calls into the light for Doc.

And just as quickly as it appears, the light disappears. Doc stops the van, “I don’t know, but it has continued on beyond us.”

Tracey’s body begins to tingle. “I … I itch all over. I can’t scratch it all at once.”

Doc tries not to scratch. But all at once his hands go to his head and ears rise from his hair. He scratches his real ears and they cover with flesh and fur. “I cannot … either.”

Tracey’s eyes go wide at what she sees, “Doc! You have rabbit ears.” She feels the same on her own head.

“Indeed, it appears we are becoming a part of the Lagomorphs.”

“But I don’t want to be a bunny. How will we finish the race?”

Doc flinches with pain as his face adjusts slightly. Tracey notices that his face looks animalistic and yet still human. Pain wracks her body in the legs. Her shoes are tight and as she takes them off they grow several times longer. And then she falls over in pain.

Her pants rip as her torso grows. For a moment she smiles as she wiggles her new tail, but the changes keep coming. She continues to clench her eyes to stay focused and not pass out. Her shins shrink. Her hands change. Her face grows.

Finally the pain is gone and she weakly stands back up with her hand on the side to steady herself. She realizes she’s standing tiptoe. She lowers herself onto her large pads. Standing is much easier now. “Although I’m a little shorter now.”

She looks to Doc who’s no longer in his seat. His clothes are in tatters, but that’s ok because he is covered in fur, yellow fur with a gray chest. She looks at her paws and sees she is sporting the reddish blond of her hair color. She helps him up.

But the changes don’t stop there. Parts of their body start to grow now. Her belly grows large. “Ugh! I weigh a ton!” Fat grows all over her body. What’s left of the clothes rips itself off her body. The changes stop again.

The van bounces. Tracey looks back at Doc who smiles sheepishly, “Sorry.”

“No need. Let’s hop to our spots and get going again.” He hops toward the room, but has trouble opening the door so he stays there. She adjusts the seat and places her heel back by the seat. From there her toes can reach the pedal. Luckily the van is still running. With slow precision, she uses her other foot and two paws to put it into gear. To steer she uses the spokes of the wheel.

Slowly they get back up to speed. “How are we doing,” her co-driver asks.

“Well, I got it moving.” She looks in the side mirror and sees a huge dust cloud behind them. I bet that’s the rest of the racers. “It seems we’re ahead of the rest of them,” her voice gets louder with each word as she gets excited.

BANG ggg ggg! SCREECH! Tracey rolls down her window the wind taking her words, “Was that a BELL?”

She turns back to Doc who’s shocked still, “Did you just say what I thought you said?”

“What did you think I said?”

“What the H …!”

She cuts him off, “Oh no, I said, ‘Was that a bell?’”

He looks visibly relieved. The engine races as the wheels have no traction. Wait! Screech? She looks back at the talons sticking in the sides. “Oh no. It’s that dragon again. The one that ruined my shirt.”

“What does he want with us?”

“I have no idea.” She paints a fake smile on her face and looks out the window. “Mask,” she calls with as genuine a voice as possible to match her face.

The sun roof opens. The black and red racer Tracey knows as Dark Master drops in, “Need a lift?”

Great. We’re his captives now. Continuing her jovial facade, “How far are you going?”

The Dark One thinks this over for a moment, “How about we take you to the pyramids and split from there?”

“Well, what do you think, Doc?”

“Unfortunately, we won’t make it that far. Having housed four extra bodies, our food supplies have diminished greatly. We might make it through tomorrow, but no further. Also we are almost out of water. And that pile,” he gestures to the cotton shrapnel on the floor, “was the last of our clothes.”

Tracey realizes where he’s going with this, “So, if you could drop us off at the nearest city, we’d be grateful.”

Eventually the Mask Rider heads back up. Tracey waits a minute to make sure he’s not coming back, “What are we? Cod’s Mobile Motel?” She sighs.

“I believe if we are going to be landing in a city it would be a good thing to change our appearance.”

Tracey pictures the two of them walking through the streets as fat bunny people. “Not good. Well, we don’t have to drive for a while. So, who’s going first?”

“Rock, Paper, Scissors?”

“1. 2. 3.”
