“Oh Sabrina!” I nearly squealed my voice was so high pitched when I saw my niece Sabrina, my flower girl, come into the room.

I gathered up my dress and made my way across to her, padding barefoot the whole way until I could lean down and hug her tight.

“Aunt Harper!” the excited 7 year old said “Oh my gosh…you look so beautiful!”

I blushed as I stood up “Thank You honey”

“You do look amazing sis” I heard my older sister, and Sabrina’s Mom, Jodie say to me.

“Thanks! This is so amazing…my wedding day! Can you believe it?! It’s finally here! A day of pure magic!”

“Calm down and breath sis” Jodie told me smiling and patting me on my bare shoulder.

“I know, I know” I said still bouncing.

“You have the level of energy that Sabrina usually does” Jodie joked.

“I’m as excited as a kid on Christmas eve in all honesty” I replied.

“Do you really think it’s magical today?” Sabrina asked me.

“Yes I do! I believe anything can happen today! My wish is coming true so why can’t yours or anybody’s” I said.

“Hey Harper: We’re going to head down and greet the guests coming in” my matron of honor Stephanie told me.

“Oh of course! Please do…I’m going to get some pictures with me and Sabrina”

“You’re all done with us right?” Stephanie asked the photographer.

“Yes ladies, we’re good for now. Round two will come after the ceremony” the photographer said.

“Will you two be okay?” Jodie asked. “I need to feed baby Jonah before the ceremony so he will be good to go”

“Of course we will” I replied. Jodie was still breast feeding; her youngest was just 4 months old “Go take care of my adorable nephew”

“And my baby brother!” Sabrina chimed in.

“You look so adorable honey” I told Sabrina. She had on a cream colored lace dress with white tights and white Mary Janes along with a headband of daisies. Her blonde hair had been braided back to show off her cute face and big blue eyes.

“I’ll be right back ladies…I need to grab my extra battery packs” the photographer said.

In a whirlwind, the room had gone from packed to just me and Sabrina “Oh…it’s just us…huh!” I said looking around, the smile never leaving my face. I lifted up the bottom of my skirt to put my white heels back on.

“Aunt Harper! I just saw your toes…I love the blue polish on them!” Sabrina said to me.

I smiled and bobbed my head giggling “You know…something old something new, something borrowed something blue. It’s an old saying for good luck on your wedding day” I pointed my right foot out proudly displaying my bright blue toenail polish, tapping my foot.

“Where are my shoes?”

Sabrina pointed across the room “Over there”

“AH-HA!” I said dramatically for her effect and made my way over. I slipped my feet into them raising me up even higher. I checked the mirror again to make sure my hair and makeup were still good. My brunette locks had been done in an up do with wavy tendrils coming down to frame my face and my makeup was industrial strength and wouldn’t run no matter how much I cried or sweat.

“So what would your wish be today Sabrina?” I asked her.

She blushed and looked at the ground, grinding her toe in; obviously embarrassed I pressed on “Come on…you can tell me”

“No! It’s embarrassing and you’ll make fun of me!” Sabrina said.

“I would never make fun of you; ever…no matter what it is. I’m just having some fun” I leaned in towards her to try and put her at ease.

“Well Aunt Harper…I wish it was me getting married today” she confessed.

“Oh!” I said standing back up “Haha…that’s not silly at all! It’s perfectly normal to picture your own wedding and dream about it being you. I did it at your age”

Sabrina visibly relaxed and sighed “I also think Ryan is really hot” she blushed again.

“Awwww…that’s so sweet! I know he adores you too” I told her.

“Oh!” Sabrina suddenly got all excited “What if I were the bride and you were my flower girl? That’d be so crazy!”

I was a bit shocked by her words “That would be crazy…you have quite the imagination”

“Mommy showed me a picture of you when you were a flower girl to help get me ready today” Sabrina said.

“Yes; I was a flower girl for my cousin Michael’s wedding when I was 5” I told her.

“You were so cute” she told me.

“Thanks! I don’t really remember a whole lot about it, just a few snippets here and there” I caught a flash of myself in a memory but I was probably just thinking about the pictures I had seen of myself from that day.

In the blink of an eye, I could also picture how Sabrina would look on her wedding day. Grown and mature; looking gorgeous in her wedding gown.

Sabrina had this faraway look combined with a goofy smile when I looked down at her. She chuckled and shook her head looking up at me “I wish it were really like that; I wish I was getting married today and you were MY flower girl”

“Haha…well, I don’t know if I can help you on that one but go ahead and dream away honey!” I said as a wave of warmth passed over me. I felt flushed. I raised my eyebrows and let out a long breath through pursed lips as I fanned myself.

“Warm in here, I’m starting to feel hot. I don’t want to get sweaty” I added as I put my arms up and out to air out my armpits and gave them a quick wave. As I did, I felt my engagement ring wobble a bit on my finger like it was a bit big for me.

It was just a passing thought at first as I stopped my hands from flapping feeling it bang up and down. “It’s never done that before” I thought as I saw Sabrina squirm and bring her shoulders in tight.

“I feel all itchy” Sabrina said.

“I know…these dresses can be a real pain in the neck” I told her. I wiggled my chest “I kind of feel itchy too”

I brought my right hand up to my chest to give it a quick scratch. I had been growing my nails out for my wedding; being very careful to let them get longer so I could have a French manicure for my pictures but as I scratched, I didn’t feel any nails scratching; just my fingertips. I looked down.

“What the heck?!” I said. I put my hands out and my breath caught in my chest. My nails were cut down to nothing. My manicure was gone.

“What’s the matter Aunt Harper?” Sabrina asked me still squirming.

“I don’t know…I’m not sure…my nails changed…” I said, my voice trailing off in confusion “I…Whoa!” I felt myself drop which made my stomach flip as I felt stinging in my heels as they came down hard against the ground “What the…”

I lifted up the bottom of my dress and saw a sight that made me seize up. My brain froze, my body froze; I didn’t even breathe. I moved the toe of my right shoe back and forth. I call it a shoe because it wasn’t a heel anymore. I was wearing a pair of flat, white Mary Janes. I could see the white strap and little gold buckles on the sides of those straps. “I don’t understand…” I mumbled looking down.

As I did, I felt my body shudder like a chill passed over me. My shoulders rocked and I trembled.

I’m quite skinny, I don’t have much of a bust to keep my dress up anyway but I could instantly tell that the dress was bigger on me.

I’m 5’5” but I weigh just 110 pounds and my dress was lacy atop my breasts and laced up tight across my back to ensure it stayed up with my very narrow shoulder straps. It went straight down; I was going for simple and elegant without a big poufy train but as I swung to the side, the whole dress shifted on me.

“Aunt Harper…I feel funny” Sabrina said.

I looked over and saw her with her hand to her head but that wasn’t it. A lot had changed about my niece; I was having a hard time comprehending the situation.

She was taller compared to me, coming up to my shoulder instead of the middle of my chest. She also wobbled forward a bit and I noticed she was wearing a pair of white heels on her feet. Her feet looked bigger but I couldn’t tell. Her dress was tight on her just as mine was loose on me and I should have realized what was up but my brain wouldn’t accept it.

Her headband made of daises seemed to shimmer and then, I watched it change. The daisies shrank down to just a white band for a quick second before lace grew out of that band and cascaded down her hair and back. Her headband had turned into a vail. “Sabrina?”

She looked up at me and her eyes seemed different. Not as childlike as before but more mature with even a bit of pity in them.

Her dress then began to change. The top straightened, the sleeves turned to a gauze with intricate lace patterns weaving into them. Her chest thinned to more gauze and intricate beading began to flourish there. The skirt poofed outward as crinoline built up pushing it out, material seemed to generate and lengthen; covering her feet in layer upon layer of dress.

“Harper?” she said to me and all I could do was nod.

I felt an itch on my feet, then it crawled up my legs. I lifted the bottom again and saw white tights creeping up my legs “Oh my God!”

I dropped the hem of my dress but it no longer went all the way to the floor. It had shrunk up and now only came to my ankles and was rising up fast. All the intricate work on it was disappearing and in a matter of seconds, I was wearing a simple, knee length plain white dress.

“What the fuck?!” I yelled out and spun around towards the mirror.

Luckily my scream caught in my throat. I made a gagging noise before my jaw simply dropped and I stared at the 14 year old girl looking back at me in the mirror.

My facial features had changed; “I look like a kid!” My eyes are narrower, my cheeks higher and my mouth looks bigger, too big for my face.

“How can this be?!” I caught a glimpse of Sabrina moving around behind me. In the reflection, I can see her growing taller. Taller than me in fact from the looks of things. I can see her wedding gown now pushing out in the front as she develops a very large set of breasts. I spin around and find myself face to face with them.

“Harper! I don’t understand! I don’t know what’s happening to me!” Sabrina says, her voice pitching lower as she spoke.

“I know Aunt Sabrina…I don’t know either!” I gasp and she stares at me.

“What did you call me?!” she asks looking down at me in shock.

“Um!” I’m blushing but I also hit a shrinking spurt before I can say anything else. The distance between our eyes suddenly jumps. Sabrina is towering over me.

“Sabrina…you look so…” I can’t finish.

Sabrina pushed me to the side and leaned in towards the mirror “Oh My God!” I’m turning into an adult! I look so much older!”

“Um yeah” I murmur “And I look…”

“Like a kid!” Sabrina said spinning towards me as I drop another inch “You look like…You’re going to be my age and I’m going to be yours! Oh my God Harper! We’re switching places! I’m…I’m…it’s my wish! I’m going to be the bride and you’re going to be my flower girl!”

“What?!” I take a step backwards, my feet shrinking inside my shrinking shoes. My legs are short and pudgy, my breasts, hips and ass are gone. I’ve got the body of a little girl.

It starts to sink in.

I turn to the mirror and see a 7 year old staring back at me. My cheeks are pudgy, my features non-descript. I bare my teeth and see that I’m missing 2 of them and the rest are a mismatch of adult and baby teeth. My chin is pulled in, my nose is tiny; my hair is still done up but it looks thinner and lighter. I start to hyperventilate.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Sabrina; she’s radiant. She is filling out her dress much more than I ever did. She grew up into quite a tall and busty woman. She looks into the mirror admiring her face; it’s the face of a mature adult woman.

“Oh…my…God” Sabrina said as she looks herself over. She turned her head right and left taking in every contour of her strong chin and jaw, her sleek cheeks, her full plump lips, her perfectly proportional nose and big blue eyes. Her hair is perfectly styled around her veil. “I’m 27 and this is my wedding day!” she said to the mirror.

I looked into the mirror and saw a woman and a girl looking back only I was the girl now and Sabrina was the woman.

“No!” I said “Turn us back Aunt Sabrina! You hafta turn us back…it’s not fair!” I stomped and tears formed in my eyes.

“Hey” Sabrina said to me getting down on her knee to look me in the eye “Hey, hey hey…calm down honey…just take a deep breath and calm down” she put her hands on my shoulders and amazingly, I did.

I knew I should be running around in a circle screaming my head off about what had just happened to us but instead, a wave of calming thoughts passed over me. I tried to back up but I couldn’t, Aunt Sabrina had me by my shoulders and was holding me tight.

I looked into her eyes; I felt so small in front of her. It was a feeling I hadn’t experienced in years yet it seemed right to me. “You…you’re supposed to be the one getting married today”

Sabrina smiled and nodded “Yes…yes I AM! You feel it too!”

I had to nod, I couldn’t lie to her, I did feel like it should be her getting married and not me. I was supposed to be her flower girl.

“So you understand why you can’t get married today Harper?” she asked me.

I nodded “Cause I’m just a kid; kids don’t get married…grown-ups do”

“And I’m the grown up” Sabrina said standing up and fluffing out her dress.

“But I was the grown-up” I said.

“Yes you were but now I am and since all these people are here to see a wedding and you can’t go, I have to go in your place” Sabrina said.

“But that means you marry Ryan…not me…” I said.

“We don’t want to send everybody away though, so I have to go through with it and if reality changed then they expect it to be me getting married…Look!” she stuck out her big old hand in my face and wiggled it all around.

“My ring! Give it back!” I shouted and stomped my foot again. I looked at my own hand and saw it was gone.

“See little girls can’t get married and don’t get engagement rings either” Sabrina said.

“But Ryan gave it to me!” I pouted.

“We might change back after today and if that happens then you’ll get to me the one married to Ryan at that point. What I’m saying to you Harper is that for today; I’m the bride and you’re the flower girl”

My head was all confused. That was when Mommy walked back in.

“Hey Honey…are you being good for Aunt Sabrina?” Mommy said to me. She winked at Aunt Sabrina who winked back.

“No photographer yet?” she asked.

“No…I can’t understand what’s keeping him either” Aunt Sabrina said pacing the room “Jonah ok?”

“Yeah…did you hafta feed my baby brother?” I asked suddenly.

“No…he was fine; just changed his stinky diaper” Mommy told me with a smile.

“I am so sorry Sabrina…somebody moved my equipment” the photographer was back.

“Oh it’s ok” she told him.

He started telling me where and how to stand and how to smile, like I don’t know how to smile. I’m not a baby, shesh!

We got a bunch of pictures taken, me looking up at Aunt Sabrina, us holding hands, her kneeling down to me; stuff like that. Then the photographer told me he’d get some more of me after the wedding.

“It’s time to go Harper; are you ready for your big day!” Mommy asked me all excited.

“Yes!” I jumped up and down and I followed her to the main part of the church.

I was a little nervous standing there. One of the bridesmaids gave me a basket full of rose petals and told me how cute I was. Mommy and Daddy took baby Jonah and sat down and I was in the back when this boy came up to me.

He was smaller than me and holding a pillow. “What are you doing here?” I asked him.

“I gots to carry the rings” he sounded like he had a cold the way he said it “It’s for my Uncle Jerrod…he’s getting married to Sabrina today…my name is Ryan”

I stopped and stared at him “Ryan?”

He nodded and wiped his nose with his sleeve and looked up at me. Our eyes met.

“Yuck! I hafta walk down the aisle with you!” I said.

The one bridesmaid told us it was time to go when the piano started playing. She tapped my shoulder and I started walking down the aisle with Ryan.

We were both dressed in our best but I know everyone was looking at me. I tossed those petals all around on the white slippery stuff I was walking down.

I saw my Mommy and Daddy out of the corner of my eye but I didn’t look at them; Aunt Sabrina told me to smile and look straight ahead so that’s what I did.

When I got to the end, Ryan put his pillow down on the steps and ran off to his Mommy and Daddy. I turned and walked down the front until I got to the end again; that’s when I hurried up and went to where everyone was sitting. I didn’t want to miss anyone else coming down, especially not Aunt Sabrina.

When the music changed and got louder I saw Aunt Sabrina step out of the back “She looks so pretty!” I said to my Mommy.

My Daddy picked me up so I could see better; I sat on his hip with my arm around him as she walked by. She smiled so big when she saw me! It looked like she was about to cry but I know they’re happy tears.

The rest of it was boring; just a bunch of talking but I watched all of it sitting still.

At the end, I clapped when they said ‘You may kiss the Bride’ and clapped as they ran down the aisle past us.

My Mommy walked me over to the front of the church where all the rest of the people in the wedding were for more pictures. Ryan and I had to get several pictures done together but then I stood with all the other girls and he went to the boys’ side.

Then I got to take pictures with Aunt Sabrina and Uncle Jerrod with Ryan and by myself and then I was done.

Daddy waited for me and we walked next door together to where the party was going on. Mommy was feeding Jonah so me and Daddy found our seats and got our drinks.

Everybody kept coming over to me and telling me how good a job I did and how pretty I looked so I just kept saying “Thank You”

I got really excited again when Aunt Sabrina and Uncle Jerrod showed up. They danced in and we all clapped again. When we ate dinner, I learned about how if you hit your fork off your glass, they had to kiss. So I did it like 3 times until Daddy told me to stop.

Then it was time to dance! Daddy took me up and we danced for a while then I danced with Aunt Sabrina and her friend Stephanie who was the bridesmaid in the back who was making sure I did my job. Then I danced with Ryan. He came up to me but it was a fast song so we didn’t have to hold hands. He can’t dance. He was jumping all over the place…such a little boy.

Mommy came out with Jonah and danced with me too but then he started getting fussy so then it was time to leave. Daddy had to bring me my shoes. I had taken them off and my white tights were filthy.

“You even managed to get a hole in them too” Mommy said looking at them. I could see my big toe with my pretty blue nail polish on it “Those are going straight into the trash when we get home” she told me.

Daddy picked me up and carried me over to Aunt Sabrina so I could tell her Bye and give her a hug.

She smelled like beer when I hugged her and she was all sweaty but I still told her I had a great day and that I loved her.

“Awwww sweetie! I love you too! I’m so glad you were a part of my wedding; I wouldn’t have it any other way!”

Daddy carried me to the car but since it was a long drive home, that’s the last thing I remember because I fell asleep.
