“Are you sure Mel said it was okay to get rid of this? Mark Franklin asked his sister Addison.
“Yes Mark” Addison said flashing a reassuring smile. “She told me it takes up too much room…she wants a desk for her laptop to go in the corner”
“I know, it’s just she was excited to get it and now…” Mark said.
“You know how tween girls tastes change” Addison said helping him carry it out to the garage.
“Ooo I love this mirror; it’ll go perfectly in my daughter’s room” Jodie Groves said as she walked through the garage sale.
“Yeah…this was in my niece’s room but she wants to redecorate” the lady manning the sale said.
“What do you want for it?” Jodie asked.
“How about $30?” she said.
Jodie was stunned it was so cheap; it was a beautiful piece “Sold” she said reaching for her purse.
“My brother can help you load this in your SUV…it’s his house anyway”
“Thank you” Jodie said beaming.
She drove home and unfortunately had to lug it out by herself but the sweat would be worth it. She had to stop a few times to maneuver it through the rooms and down the hall but she set it up in the corner of her daughter’s room and loved how it looked there.
“Wow Mommy!” 6 year old Kinsley Groves said upon entering her room. “I love it!” she said running up to the mirror.
“Don’t put your hands on it…I just got it all cleaned up and you don’t need to touch it and get fingerprints all over it” Jodie reminded her daughter.
Kinsley did lift up the bottom of it and wiggle it back and forth while she ran around it in circles. “Cool” she said.
“I’m going to go get dinner started okay” Jodie said after getting a hug from her daughter.
“Okay Mommy; I’m going to play princess so I can use my new magic mirror” Kinsley announced.
“That sounds like a plan”
Kinsley ran to the closet and got out her Halloween costume from last year which was a pink Sleeping Beauty dress. She still fit into it but this year, she wanted to be Alice from Alice in Wonderland. She pulled out a pair of pink plastic princess shoes to go with it and a wand with a big star on top just because.
“I am Princess Aurora…Sleeping Beauty to all of you” she announced to the walls in her room as she stepped into her gown. Kinsley hiked up the bottom hem and ran back to her new mirror to get a look at herself.
“AH!” She screamed when she saw the reflection in the mirror.
“Are you alright in there honey?” she heard her Mommy call out from down the hall but Kinsley stood in shocked silence in front of the mirror, her jaw hanging open.
Kinsley heard the footsteps coming “I said are you alright?” Jodie said as she swung open the door.
“Mommy!” she swung around “There was a woman in the mirror!”
“What are you talking about?” Jodie rushed over but all she saw was a plain and simple reflection of her daughter there. “Is this some kind of game?” she asked.
“Don’t you see her?!” Kinsley pointed. She still saw the reflection of the adult lady in the mirror pointing back at her.
“Ha-Ha…very funny” Jodie replied. “Dinner will be ready in about 15 minutes okay”
“But…” Kinsley said. She realized that the reflection was doing everything that she was doing and now she was curious more than scared. “Okay…” she said quietly, never taking her eyes off the mirror.
“It’s chicken and rice and green beans” Jodie told her daughter.
“Okay Mommy” she said as the reflection’s mouth moved to say the same words.
Jodie smiled and shook her head and left the room.
“This mirror really is magic!” Kinsley decided right then and there. She looked up into the face in the mirror that was looking down. The reflection lady had long brown hair and brown eyes just like her but her hair was prettier and bigger and fuller.
Her face smiled when she smiled “She’s pretty” she said. She pulled up the bottom hem of the skirt and looked down at her own small foot in the clunky plastic shoe.
Then she looked into the mirror and the lady there had her skirt pulled up too. She was also wearing a pink shoe, but hers was a fancy heel that showed off her toes which were painted pink just like Kinsley’s.
Kinsley’s brain kicked into high gear. She pulled her skirt up higher to see a scar she had on her knee. Her Mommy had said she’d probably always have a scar there from a bad crash oh her bike. As she looked really close, she saw that the lady in the mirror had a scar on her knee too.
Kinsley dropped her skirt to the floor and looked at the woman looking back in awe. Her jaw hung open and so did the reflection “Is that what I’m going to look like when I get big?” she asked.
She smiled and began to dance and jump watching the reflection do the same. Every crazy move she did, the mirror did the same move. “This is so awesome!” she said.
Kinsley had to pry herself away to go eat dinner. She rushed through and ate fast and then sprinted back to her bedroom, but now, it was just her plain old reflection waiting for her. “Bring back the pretty lady!” she said and shook the mirror. But all she saw was herself.
Two days later, Kinsley’s 8 year old brother Connor came in and wanted to play Power Rangers. “I’ll be the Blue Ranger and you can be the Pink Ranger”
“Okay” she replied. She put on a pair of pink sweat pants and a pink t-shirt and began to do ninja moves around the room with her brother.
Kinsley rolled over the bed and landed crouched down on the floor on the far side. When she landed, she caught a glimpse of something different out of the corner of her eye. “OH MY GOSH!” she yelled as she spun to the mirror “You’re back!”
The reflection was of the same lady, this time, she was wearing an authentic pink Power Ranger Suit, her brown hair pined up and back but Kinsley was just so excited to see her.
“Who are you fighting against Kinsley?” Connor yelled over “Get away from the mirror and help me!” he added as he rolled around the floor swinging his plastic sword.
Kinsley jumped forward and rolled around next to her brother but kept one eye on the reflection. She thought it was funny seeing the adult lady rolling around so much bigger than her big brother.
“Connor!” Jodie yelled “You still have a worksheet to finish up for homework! Get down here young man!”
“Oh Man!” Connor said but he hopped up and ran out of his sister’s room.
Kinsley looked all around and saw she was alone with her adult reflection again. She did the Power Ranger pose and the lady in the mirror did it as well but looked better doing it; her long legs and pointed toes and more serious adult face made her look fierce.
This time it was a call that it was time for her bath and brushing her teeth that made Kinsley leave her room. “I hope she’s there” she said as she stepped onto her foot stool to brush her teeth, but she wasn’t in the bathroom mirror, and she also was gone by the time she came back to her room to go to bed in her butterfly nightgown.
“Darn, why is she only there when I’m playing?” Kinsley asked her own childish reflection but of course no answers were forthcoming.
“What are you playing?” Jodie asked as she came into her daughter’s room. It was a cold and rainy Saturday and Kinsley was sitting with back against her bed and a couple of dolls between her feet in front of her.
“House” she said smiling up.
“Can I play too?” Jodie asked getting down on her knees. She flipped her auburn hair to the side, out of her face, her green eyes lighting up as she smiled and sat down with her legs crisscrossed.
“Sure!” Kinsley said getting excited. “But I get to be the Mommy and you have to be my daughter” she announced handing over the smaller doll to Jodie.
“Okay” Jodie replied as she began to dance her doll back and forth and say “I don’t want fish sticks for dinner” in a whiny tone.
Kinsley giggled and said in as deep a voice as she could “You need to brush your teeth and go to bed”
“No, I don’t want to…Ah!” and Jodie ran her doll all around the floor and up onto the bed.
She couldn’t see it because she was still sitting on the ground, but the reflection in the mirror was beginning to change. When her hand popped over the top, the hand in the mirror was very small holding the doll while a head full of dark brown hair could be seen doing the talking.
After a few minutes, Jodie looked around “I need a horse…don’t you have a horse around here? She should be riding a horse”
“It’s in my toy box” Kinsley said.
Jodie hopped up and rounded the bed. She came to a complete dead stop.
Jodie was heading for her daughter’s toy box when she saw something out of place to her. The image in the mirror seemed off; distorted somehow because it looked shorter than her. She stopped for just a glance but when she saw the reflection in the mirror, she was unable to move.
“What the…?” she said quietly as the mouth on the reflection went up and down in time with her own. The reflection looked up but Jodie looked down “It looks like me when I was a little kid!” she realized looking at the little girl with bright red hair, green eyes and freckles all over her face.
She took a hesitant step forward, the reflection lifting her foot in exact time and coming closer as well.
Jodie was barefoot, in jeans and a light green top and so was the reflection, just she was dressed in a light green t-shirt and all of her clothes fit her. Coming up close, she saw that the little girl in the reflection even had the same color red polish on her toes and fingers that she was wearing.
“What’s taking you so long?” Kinsley asked and popped up. She saw her Mom mesmerized in front of the mirror “Oh my gosh Mommy…do you see something like…whoa!” Kinsley saw the reflection of the little girl and she skidded to a stop just outside of the mirror’s view.
“Kinsley?! Are you seeing this?!” she exclaimed in an excited voice. “Do you see what I look like in this mirror!?”
“Yes! You look JUST like a little girl!” Kinsley said. “I wonder if I…” she said and stepped into view.
“OH MY GOD!” Jodie yelled upon seeing Kinsley enter the frame. A tall dark haired and eyed woman now stood in the reflection next to the little red haired girl. “Is…is that you?!”
“You’re back!” Kinsley yelled and jumped up and down. The woman in the reflection jumped up and down just as excited but her body moved differently; the way a mature woman would.
Kinsley was also barefoot and wearing a black sweater and black leggings as was the woman in the mirror. “When I play like I’m an adult, this is who I see in the mirror!”
“But that…that’s impossible” Jodie said looking closely at their reflections “This has to be some kind of funhouse mirror”
“When have you seen this before?” Jodie questioned.
“When I was playing princess the night you got it for me. I saw her in a real pink gown and shoes and then when I was the pink Power Ranger, I saw her in a real Power Ranger outfit and now” Kinsley said.
“This is…I can’t believe this” Jodie said.
She stepped out of the frame and blinked and looked around.
“Pretend that instead of being my daughter as a six year old, you were playing as a teenager” Kinsley said.
“What? How do I do that?” she asked.
“Um…I don’t know” Kinsley answered.
Jodie picked up the doll and moved it around “I’m like, such a teenager, blah Mom …whatever”
Kinsley giggled but was shocked when Jodie stepped back in front of the mirror and a 16 year old Jodie was reflected back. Petulant look on her face, small breasts, almost the same height, skinnier legs, red hair darker and longer, less freckles but still a younger face reflected back.
“I…that’s what I looked like when I was 16” Jodie admitted. “How is this doing that?” she asked and touched the outside frame of the mirror. “Is this what you’re going to look like when you grow up?”
“I think so” Kinsley answered. The combination of her high voice and Jodie staring at the adult version in the mirror made her laugh.
“So this really is our mirror image” Jodie said. “You as the Mom and me as the kid”
“Wait…step out of the way!” Kinsley yelled as she bounced back over the bed and came back with another doll.
“Oh No! No way am I playing with that” Jodie said shaking her head vigorously.
“Come on, we’re just playing…try it” Kinsley pleaded.
Jodie took the doll from Kinsley outstretched hand. “Ba-Ba…Goo Goo Mama” she said as the doll Kinsley had handed her was a tiny baby.
Kinsley stepped in back in front and eagerly anticipated what was going to happen. She squealed in delight and slapped her hands in front of her mouth as Jodie stepped back in front of the mirror. Now reflected there was a small 1 year old girl standing on wobbly legs, her small denim pants obviously bulged out with a diaper underneath them.
“Oh My Gosh you’re so cute!” Kinsley yelled.
Jodie was amazed, her jaw hung open at the sight of the small baby girl, light thin and wavy red hair barely covered her ears but her green eyes still shone forth. Her mouth hung open and a tendril of drool began to snake down off her bottom lip. It was convincing enough that Jodie wiped the back of her hand across and the baby did too.
“Do you need a diaper change?” Kinsley asked leaning down and talking to her Mom’s feet but in the mirror she looked like a Mom asking her baby a question.
Jodie tentatively reached her hand back and tapped her rear end and shook her head no. Slightly more freaked out than before, Jodie walked off and the baby did the same taking big steps and toddling out of the image.
Jodie stood across the room biting on her thumbnail deep in thought. Kinsley was dancing in front of the mirror watching her adult form mimic her every move. She turned to the side and appeared to be checking out her bust when Jodie cleared her throat.
Kinsley spun around laughing “This is so cool seeing Mom as the kid” she said. “I wonder if it’s another world through there where this is real?”
Jodie’s eyebrows shot up at the question. She picked up the first doll she had been playing with, the six year old doll and stepped back in front of the mirror. The little girl with the head of wild red hair was back in her jeans and green t-shirt.
Jodie put her hand up and fluffed up her hair on the right side all the while staring at the movements of the girl. She picked up the horse she had been looking for and turned it over in her hands. Kinsley looked on curious.
Jodie tossed the horse at the mirror underhanded; it passed clean through.
Both of their jaws dropped and they turned and looked at each other “What the heck?!” Kinsley yelled.
Jodie turned behind her and saw the horse lying on the ground behind them “It’s right here”
“How did it get behind you? You threw it forward” Kinsley asked. She looked into the mirror and saw it was behind them in the reflection too.
Jodie’s fascination had peaked. She walked up to the mirror and took a deep breath, she put her hand out and watched as the small child’s hand came closer and closer until they hovered mere centimeters away from each other.
Kinsley came up and put her small hand out toward the mirror now too. The large adult hand on the other side stretched out until she thought she could even feel their fingertips meet.
“On the count of three, touch the mirror” Jodie said. “One…two…three…”
“Mommy!” Kinsley yelled out in confusion after her fingers touched the glass. A wave seemed to pass over and through her, lurching her shoulders forward and causing her to take an extra side step to balance.
“Mommy!” Jodie echoed in a voice full of confusion and fear. A wave also washed over her and she hunched her shoulders in close and tight along with bringing her legs in tight in a defensive pose.
The mirror swirled and so did their world. Kinsley shut her eyes as she grew dizzy and Jodie put her hands to her temples; her mind clouded in doubt.
“Mommy where are you?!” Jodie cried out, her voice rising in pitch and tenor. Confusion washed over her, “Where’s my Mommy?”
“I’m right here sweetheart, it’s okay” Kinsley said, her voice dipping down lower and deeper as she began to grow taller and larger and older.
“I’m scared and…” Jodie said. She was beginning to shrink down shorter and get younger. No longer 30, she was quickly going backwards as her mind reeled. Her chest and body began to diminish in time with her height and age.
Jodie’s hips came in and her ass deflated, going flatter as her legs began to shrink and lose their curve and round fullness. Her bare feet began to shrink down narrower and smaller, her toes and their nails becoming tiny on her adolescent feet. Her red nail polish chipping and vanishing into a mismatched mess as they went.
Kinsley grew steadily older and larger and more mature. Her feet grew wider and larger as her legs lengthened and curves developed on them. Her thighs popped outward as her hips and ass spread out wider in maturity.
Her stomach softened and her breasts began to grow larger and larger, filling in as her clothing changed to match that of what her mirror image had been wearing. She felt a bra appear under her black sweater, catching and supporting her breasts as they grew out.
Kinsley’s arms and hands expanded longer and stronger as she aged up from 6 to 30. Her fingernails grew long at the end of long, trim and elegant fingers.
Her hair flowed out and down, full and dark. Her eyes spread out wider as her face grew larger. Her mouth grew out and her lips plumped as her nose broadened and her chin and jaw strengthened. She ran her tongue out around her lips and across her full run of adult teeth.
Jodie found herself looking up at her daughter now as she continued getting smaller and younger. Her breasts continuing to diminish in size and weight until they vanished back into her shrinking chest and body. Her arms pulled up short and thin as her hands diminished down to those of a child, which she was quickly becoming. She balled up her hands into fists, at first she could still feel her longer nails pressing in but that sensation faded as her nails shrank back in stubby and flat against her shrinking palms.
“Mommy” she cried out now, her young voice wavering and breaking as her hair changed brightened back to full red from her more mature auburn. Her eyes narrowed and freckles burst out all over her small face. Her cheeks rose up apple round as her nose narrowed and shrank back and her mouth and lips became smaller and teeth went missing. Her chin rounded and her small cherubic face looked up for comfort from the adult standing before her.
“Jodie” Kinsley said in her full deep voice.
“Mommy?” Jodie questioned looking the adult Kinsley up and down, now standing right before her eyes. “You…you’re the Mommy now for real?” Jodie put her small hand out and touched Kinsley’s leg just to be sure that it was real.
“Um, yeah, it looks like it. I, uh, grew” she shrugged and got down on one knee in front of little Jodie. Her black leggings stretching across, accommodating her full and curvaceous adult legs and her full round ass. They stopped at her mid-calf, showing off her long legs and much larger bare feet
“But, but, it’s just a mirror” Jodie said. She went up to it but now the reflection, reflected back exactly what they were now: A tall brown haired woman and a short red haired girl.
“Touch it again Mommy…I mean Kinsley maybe we can get back” Jodie said. She put her fingers up but only felt cold glass.
Kinsley put her hand up and touched the ends of her long elegant fingers against the cold, unforgiving surface.
“But…but…” Jodie said putting her whole palm up against it. She slapped her open palm against the mirror in frustration.
“I think it’s done honey” Kinsley said as soothingly as she could as she put her hands on the small girls’ shoulders and backed her away from the mirror.
“Mom! I’m Home” Connor yelled as the front door slammed shut behind him. He had been playing next door at his friend’s house but now he was home.
“Oh No, it’s Connor! What are we going to do?” Jodie said worried. She spun around looking around the room but before either of them could really even move very far, Connor was in the door.
“Hey Mom Hey Jodie, what’s for lunch?” he asked.
“Uh…” Kinsley said confused even more.
“Can I get something to drink, I’m thirsty?” he asked.
“Su…sure” Kinsley answered hesitantly.
“Thanks Mom!” he said and was gone back to the kitchen.
Kinsley and Jodie stared at each other dumbfounded. “But he thinks you’re the Mom now” Jodie said.
“And that must mean that you’re his little sister” Kinsley said as Jodie screamed.
“What’s her problem Mom?” Connor asked as he came back with a Gatorade in his hand and a line of red on his lips.
Connor came over and stood in front of his little sister Jodie, he was several inches taller than her now and Jodie stared up at him in awe.
“Connor! I’ve told you to not walk through the house with one of those. If you spill that it’ll never come out of the carpet” Kinsley said automatically.
“Oh sorry Mom, I forgot” he said and ran back out.
“He…He’s bigger than me” Jodie said looking at her Mom for comfort. “My brother…um…Connor is bigger than me. How can he be bigger than me now? I’m so confused…”
Connor came back minus his drink “You want to play Power Rangers with me Jodie?” he asked.
“She’d love to” Kinsley remarked and left the room “Have fun”
“But…” Jodie began.
“I’ll be the Blue Ranger and you can be the Pink one again” he yelled tossing her a sword.
Jodie began to weakly swing it around, checking over her shoulder in the mirror where all she saw was a little girl with bright red hair playing with her big brother.
