“Oh My Gosh Anna…I can’t believe I get to spend the night with you in your dorm room” Zoe Green told her older sister as she came into her room.
“It’s not much, but it’s been home” Anna told her little sister “My roommate’s going to be gone all weekend; she went home for a wedding and won’t be back until Monday so her bed is all yours”
“Sweet!” Zoe said dropping her duffel bag on the ground.
“Too bad Mom couldn’t take you with her on her trip…San Francisco is more fun than being here” Anna said.
“Mom couldn’t afford it and her company wouldn’t let me go anyway” Zoe replied.
“You’re just lucky my dorm leaders let you stay…they felt bad for you and when I told them and since I’m scheduled to work the kitchen tomorrow and no one wanted to cover, they let you stay here instead of letting me go home” Anna laughed.
“Whatever works” the 11 year old said flopping down on her sister’s bed. “It’s just so cool…I’m spending the night at college!”
19 year old Anna smiled and sat on her own bed “You’ll get to be here soon enough” she told Zoe.
“7 years is an eternity” Zoe pleaded dramatically dropping off the bed and to her knees.
“It’ll be here before you know it” Anna told her, “trust me”
Anna had gone through a bout of homesickness that almost made her drop out after her first semester. She hadn’t told anyone yet but she had been looking into transferring to a university closer to home next year…maybe even moving back home to live to save money and commuting to college.
“Well I can’t wait to get out on my own…live away from home” Zoe said.
Anna just smiled a knowing smile. “Let’s go for a walk…I’ll show you around the building and campus”
Zoe jumped at the opportunity and followed her big sister like a puppy.
Anna pointed out the buildings she had classes in and where the best places to hide and read were located before they made their way to the cafeteria.
“Hey Anna…who’s your guest?” Anna’s friend Katie said seeing them come in.
“This is my little sister Zoe…she’s going to be staying with me tonight and tomorrow” Anna said.
“Cool…grab a tray and get some food Zoe” Katie told the smiling girl.
Anna and Zoe filled their trays and sat at a table where Katie was hanging out with another girl named Maddie.
“So are you going to come here?” Maddie asked Zoe.
“Yeah…I wish I already could be going here” Zoe responded “College life is so cool”
Anna smirked and went on eating while Maddie and Katie fussed over her sister. After they ate, they headed back to the dorms where Zoe played video games with Katie before they all watched a movie.
Zoe was on cloud 9 after getting to hang out with college girls on their own level and she smiled the whole way to Anna’s room when they all broke up to go to bed.
“This is so awesome” Zoe said kicking off her shoes and pulling off her socks. “You absolutely have to just love it here”
Anna smiled a sad smile “You’d think that, but to tell you the truth…I miss being at home”
“No way” Zoe said as she changed out from a pair of jeans to a pair of cotton shorts “That’s impossible; I’d kill to be in your place Anna…you’ve got it great here and you want to be back home having Mom control you and tell you what to do”
Zoe just shook her head in amazement. She took off the green top she had been wearing, leaving her in just a white tank top.
“I know Zoe…I always dreamed about being out on my own until I actually got there. Now, all I can think about is how good I had it at home” Anna said “Crazy Huh” she added with a shrug.
“Wow” Zoe replied. “I’d trade places with you in a heartbeat; you could go back to living at home and having absolutely no freedom to do anything if that’s what you really want and I could be on my own with awesome friends and making my own decisions”
“I wish I could Zoe” Anna said with a hitch in her voice “I’d give anything to be back at home with no worries and no responsibility beyond doing basic chores”
“You’re crazy” Zoe responded “I can’t wait to get out of the house and go away to college and you’re living my dream and all you want is my reality”
“Your reality is my dream” Anna said succinctly.
Zoe pulled her long blonde hair back into a ponytail and lifted her feet up off the ground as she slipped under the covers of Anna’s roommate Olivia’s bed.
Anna slipped her feet out of her black flats and took off her tan shorts “Being on your own isn’t all fun and games Zoe” Anna said. She took off her black top and her bra putting on an extra-large yellow t-shirt that said Rams on it.
She pulled her long straight brown hair out of the back of her shirt and she shook her head “You’ll see that when you get a little bit older”
“Whatever” Zoe replied lying on her side “I wish I was the older sister and you were the younger one so I could stay here and you could go back home as the 11 year old”
“That’s not a bad wish” Anna replied as she crawled into her own bed. “Good Night”
“Good night” Zoe replied as Anna flipped off the light.
Anna lay on her back and put her hands behind her head thinking about what her sister had said. “If that were only possible…if there was some way for us to switch ages so she could stay and I could go back…if only…”
It took Anna a while to drift off the sleep. She could hear Zoe’s slower breathing across the room and knew she was out “…if only…”
Anna woke up when she heard her little sister begin to flip and flop in the bed across the way. She was watching and smiling when she saw Zoe’s bright blue eyes flicker and then open fully. “Morning big sis” Anna said.
Zoe was confused after she processed what she had said. “What did you call me?”
Anna smiled and sat up swinging her long legs out and putting her feet on the ground. “I called you my big sister…that’s what you want to be isn’t it?”
Zoe thought back to their conversation last night as she ran her fingers through her blonde hair and rubbed her eyes “yeah” she giggled “So what do you have planned shrimp” she said playing along.
“How serious were you last night? I mean, would you really want to go through with what you said last night? Would you really want to be the older sister and make me the younger sister?”
“What are you talking about Anna…you’re not making any sense” Zoe said. She sat up and swung her skinny legs out in front of her and she scooted to the edge of the bed. Her feet dangled a few inches above the ground as she hopped down.
“It’s just that I couldn’t stop thinking about what you said last night and how awesome it would be if you were really my big sister and I could become your little sister”
“You’re just a big goofball” Zoe responded.
Anna laughed as she told her to get her bathroom stuff ready.
After they showered and cleaned up they headed over to the cafeteria for breakfast. The place was pretty deserted early on a Saturday. Anna and Zoe were dressed similarly in flip-flops, shorts and t-shirts.
“I can’t believe she’s still thinking about it” Zoe thought as she ate her cereal “She really wants to be a kid again…more than that, she wants to be younger than me; she wants me to be her big sister…crazy”
Anna ate her breakfast allowing her mind to play with the idea: It was a fantasy but one that took her mind off her real problems so why not let her mind wander “What if I was looking across and Zoe was taller than me”
Anna smiled and looked down at her plate “What if I looked back up and saw that Zoe’s face was mature along with her body” she thought. She was giggling as she looked up and imagined what a 19 year old Zoe might look like sitting just a few feet away.
“And what if I looked down and found myself short…with a flat chest and feet that dangled above the floor and my older sister Zoe was looking at my little kid face”
Anna stifled a laugh but thought “Now that would be awesome…”
Zoe swallowed and for some reason, she felt nervous. She felt heat on her cheeks and across the back of her neck as her stomach did a mild flip.
Anna swallowed and also felt her stomach flop. She felt a tingle run down her arms and she shook her head. As she adjusted herself in her seat, her feet lifted off the floor. Just barely at first, the soles of her flip-flops came off and lifted up with a crack of light between them and the tile but as she sat analyzing her sudden nervous feeling, they lifted more and more, rising up higher and higher.
Zoe smiled and asked “What are you laughing about over there?” as her arms began to lengthen ever so slightly.
“Nothing…just a daydream” Anna admitted.
Zoe shook her head “Kids…” she said.
Anna smiled at the comment and looked down. As she was looking and leaning, her shirt fluttered a bit and slipped forward on her shoulders. She reached up and pulled her shirt up but it slid right back down. She sat up straight but could tell that it was loose around her neck. Anna grabbed her shirt and pulled it taut but as she did, she felt it push her bra in and she said “Something’s not right”
Her bra smushed back and met a lot less resistance. Anna grabbed her boobs and her eyes popped open “Why are my boobs smaller?”
“What are you talking about” Zoe said. She took her feet off the bottom rung of her chair and set them flat on the ground; something she couldn’t have done a few moments earlier.
“My boobs…I swear to God they feel smaller than they’re supposed to” Anna said. “My bra and my shirt…they’re…too big”
“That’s impossible” Zoe said, her voice pitching deeper suddenly.
Anna heard her sister talk and she looked up “Zoe?” she said somewhat weak and questioning. Anna stared at her sister’s face; it looked different.
Anna stared “What is it?” Zoe said and she coughed trying to clear her throat as she realized she didn’t sound right.
Anna continued to stare “Can it actually be?” she thought “She looks older! She looks like she’s getting older!”
“What is it?” Zoe repeated.
“Come on! We’ve got to get out of here!” Anna said jumping out of her seat while grabbing Zoe by the arm and getting her moving.
Once on her feet and standing, she realized that many things were not right and so did Zoe.
“Anna?” Zoe said looking at her sister and at herself.
“Let’s get back to my room” Anna said and she took off running. Her clothes were getting big on her and they moved endlessly on her as she ran; her flip-flops were at least two sizes too big and she had to point her feet forward to keep them on.
“Anna wait up!” Zoe yelled as she ran after her sister. Her clothes felt tight but she was able to keep up with her sister with no problem as they ran the few hundred yards over the grass.
Anna hit the front doors and never stopped as she headed for the stairs to her room. Zoe took them 2 at a time keeping up as Anna pulled out her key and flung open the door.
Zoe hurried in and Anna shut the door quickly behind them. She leaned against the door and said “Holy Shit Zoe…I think we’re actually switching ages”
“What?!” Zoe said but as she took a step inside, she realized her feet were hanging off the ends of her flip-flops “…the heck…”
Zoe wiggled her toes; they looked different, longer and wider and her heels were hanging off the backs. She slipped her feet out and let her eyes trace up her legs. “What the heck” she said seeing that her legs looked longer and more curved.
Zoe put her hands on her hips “I have hips!” she said, a look of amazement on her maturing face.
She looked over and saw that her sister looked different too “Holy Shit Anna! You’re only as tall as me!”
Anna looked directly across at her sister; they were the same height. She swallowed and opened her mouth but no words came out. “Zoe! Our wishes…they’re coming true!”
“No” Zoe said shaking her head “That’s impossible”
“Look at us though!” Anna yelled. “You’re getting bigger and I’m getting smaller!”
Zoe looked down and saw her chest beginning to grow as two distinct bumps now resided under her shirt. She put her hands over them and blushed but she could feel them growing larger under the palms of her hands.
Anna ran to her cubby and grabbed a mirror, her too big flip-flops slapped at her shrinking feet as she moved. She spun the mirror so Zoe could see herself.
“AH!” Zoe gasped out at the reflection; she didn’t recognize it as the girl in the reflection looked to be about 16. “Is that…” she took the mirror out of Anna’s shrinking hand and brought it up closer to herself. She turned her chin to the left, then to the right. Her face had changed dramatically “No…this…” she said looking intently. Her bright blue eyes still shone forth but her nose was bigger, her cheeks fuller and longer, her chin and jaw were more pronounced.
Zoe looked over and saw that she was now taller than Anna.
Anna was looking down. She had taken off her sandals and stood bare foot on the carpet, her legs were short and much more uniform in their shape. Her defining and mature curves were disappearing and her hips and ass were coming in flat and straight. Her shorts and t-shirt hung on her diminishing frame; her breasts were almost gone entirely. Her arms poked out of the large sleeves and her hands were getting smaller and smoother by the second.
Zoe spun the mirror back around “Anna…you need to look at yourself”
Anna took the mirror and gasped. There in the mirror was a face she did recognize, it was her own at 13 and it looked like she was still getting younger.
Her freckles had returned and her nose had shrunk. Her eyes were wide and her face and cheeks were round “I can’t believe it” she said, her voice higher than before as she rubbed the palm of her left hand over her slightly chubby cheek.
Anna dropped the mirror on her bed as Zoe grew a bit taller and older still. Zoe ran her hands through her hair as it grew fuller and wavy instead of straight. Her t-shirt was painted on her now as her breasts bulged forward; her upper arms pinched by the tight sleeves of her adult small shirt.
Zoe looked down and saw her shorts pulled taut over her full and round thighs and the tops of her hips protruded out as her ass cheeks poked out from underneath.
“Whatever you do Zoe, don’t scream” Anna told her now bigger sister.
Zoe nodded but a panicked look resided on her face “What do we do now Anna?” she said.
Anna looked up; way up to her sister’s scared face “I don’t know but we’ll figure it out okay”
“Okay” Zoe mumbled.
“I think it’s over” Anna said in her high pitched voice. She scrunched up her nose “Is that really what I sound like?”
“Shut up Anna, this is no time for joking around” Zoe said.
Anna stopped and looked down at herself “What are you talking about Zoe…this is exactly what we wanted to happen”
“But I never thought it would or could” Zoe shot back.
“But it did” Anna said earnestly.
Zoe looked around and let herself take in the moment and what had happened “Holy Shit you’re right…I’m big…I’m older…I’m older than you”
Anna smiled and nodded “We switched places” she said excitedly, her long straight brown hair bouncing up and down, framing her youthful face.
“But what about everybody else?” Zoe asked. “Does this mean that we’ve always been like this or is everyone going to freak out and send us to some government lab where we get picked apart like lab rat freaks for the rest of our lives?”
Anna stomped forward to her cubby and pulled out a lanyard with her student ID on it. She smiled “Check it out…Zoe Rebecca Green” she said as she threw it to her Zoe.
Zoe grabbed it and saw a blonde and her name on it “Holy Shit that’s me!” she said.
“You’re the face on the student ID card…not me” Anna said.
“So it’s real, it’s really real” Zoe said.
“Apparently so” Anna responded. “I’m now your little sister Zoe!”
“You’re spending the weekend with me in MY dorm room now” Zoe answered.
“This is…” Anna said as she turned her small hands over and back before her “…I can’t believe I’m 11 again”
Zoe struggled to get her extremely tight t-shirt off “Ow, ow, ow” she said as she tugged on it to get it off her head. “Pinched my ears” she said dropping the small shirt on the bed “Whoa” she said grabbing her breasts from the bottoms. “These babies are huge”
“Bigger than mine were” Anna added.
Zoe knew where the clothes were all stored “Luckily a bunch of 36D bras are in here for me”
“Yeah, that wasn’t my size…” Anna said “I WAS…a 34C” She looked over “You look taller too”
Zoe grabbed a new Rams t-shirt and put it on along with a pair of black panties and black shorts. Anna’s purse was lying by the bed and Zoe picked it up “Mine now?” she asked.
“I would guess so” Anna replied.
Zoe unzipped it and took out the wallet. “I can drive!” she said taking out the license. The same blonde haired woman looked back “Says here I’m 5’9”
“I was 5’7” before” Anna said looking down again. She took off her huge t-shirt and her useless hanging bra. She grabbed the red t-shirt Zoe had discarded and put it on. She also grabbed the black shorts as she took off her old ones and switched them out along with Zoe’s old underwear. She eyed Zoe’s small flip-flops and knew that they were hers now.
There was a knock on the door and both of them froze. Zoe looked panicked before she said “Yeah”
“Hey it’s Katie”
Zoe opened the door and smiled.
“Hey Zoe…since you said you have to work this afternoon, do you want me and Maddie to watch your little sister for you?’ Katie said smiling at Anna.
“Um…” Zoe said.
“We were going to take her to the softball game if she wants to go”
Anna perked up “She has no idea…she’s treating me like I’m a kid…like I’ve always been Zoe’s little sister. They remember last night as me visiting and they know Zoe as their floor mate…not me” she thought.
“Yeah, I wanna go” Anna said enthusiastically.
“Um sure…why not” Zoe said. “Thanks” she told Katie.
“We’ll swing by and get her at 1 if that’s okay” Katie said.
“My shift starts at 1 so why don’t I bring her by your room when I leave” Zoe said.
“Sounds great…see you then kiddo” Katie said with a slight wave at Anna.
Zoe closed the door and turned to Anna with an unbelieving expression on her face. “Oh…My…God…” Zoe said. “She doesn’t think anything is wrong”
Anna nodded quickly “I know…isn’t it great. Only we know what happened and to everybody else, we’ve always been like this”
“This; could be fun” Zoe said nodding slowly.
“She treated me like I was a kid; like I’m your little sister!” Anna said “This rocks so fucking hard!”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa” Zoe said “Watch your language; you’re not 19 anymore, you talk like that around Mom and you’ll get your ass whipped”
“Oh, um, I guess you’re right” Anna said blushing a bit. She looked back down at her different looking body to remind herself of her new status in life.
“But I can talk like that now if I want to” Zoe said.
“Sure can” Anna agreed. She looked over at the pile of textbooks and no longer saw her own workload, but instead, she now just saw an intimidating stack of things she no longer quite understood. But for some reason, it didn’t bother her. Memories of college and high school were still there, but distant and faint.
The two sisters sat on the beds and talked. Anna filled Zoe in on some things she would need to know and Zoe reminded Anna of things she may have forgotten. Both enjoyed the talk, but as they talked, the information they needed became clearer and clearer in their minds.
At 12:30, Zoe got up and started to get ready for her shift in the cafeteria. It was her campus job to help with her expenses. She put on a pair of old jeans and a black t-shirt with bleach stains on the front. She put on some socks and a pair of beat up Converse sneakers and grabbed her apron.
“Let’s get you to Katie’s room” Zoe told her little sister, who jumped up eager to go spend the day with the two college girls.
With a knock on the door, Katie flung it open with a broad smile “Hey Anna!” she said with a laugh “Ready to go”
“You bet” Anna replied looking up to Katie.
“I get off at 6 so why don’t you all just come on over and we’ll eat together then after I get off” Zoe told her friend.
“Sounds good” Katie replied. “Come on in…Maddie will be here in about 15 minutes”
Zoe smiled and patted Anna on the back “Be good and listen to Katie and Maddie for me”
“I will” Anna quickly replied.
Anna slipped under Katie’s arm and went into the room hearing her sister tell Katie “Thanks for watching her for me today”
“No problem; we’re going to have fun” Katie replied.
Once the door was closed, Zoe headed down the hall to the stairs and then out onto campus. She cut across the grass; the same grass she had run over earlier as she grew and changed. This time she walked to the cafeteria. She knew which door to enter in the back like she had been working there for a while.
“Zoe” she heard her name being called by a tall guy with short black hair.
“Yeah boss” she replied.
“You need to finish up the last few loads of dishes then get to peeling onions; we’re making French onion soup for dinner…so you’ll need to cut up croutons and shred 10 pounds of Swiss too…”
“Gotcha” was all she said as she tied her apron and headed to the dishwashing machine. She opened it and a gust of steam blasted out as she pulled the rack out and began unloading the hot, clean dishes.
Zoe was sweating within a few minutes running the dishes before she saw the mountain of onion that she needed to peel and then run through the cutters. Her arms strained lifting the racks of dishes in and out
“Wow…first job…” she thought. “And to think I gave up being a kid for this”
She began to peel the onions one by one careful not to cut her hands. The work was easy on the mind but hard on the body and the time passed pretty quickly.
“So what do you think about college life so far?” Katie asked young Anna.
“It’s pretty cool…this has been a pretty awesome weekend so far” Anna said.
“Good” Katie said as she went over and took a seat and put on a pair of sneakers. “You’re in what grade?”
“5th for another few weeks” Anna replied.
“My sisters are in 8th and 3rd…so I’m used to having younger sisters to watch out for” Katie told her.
“So what’s your favorite movie?” Katie asked.
“I love the Harry Potter movies!” Anna answered. “But I’ve only got to watch the first three so far” She stopped after she said it, her mind reeling “Wait, I saw all of them…didn’t I?” she thought as her mind adjusted from 19 to 11 a bit more. “My Mom says I have to be a little bit older to watch the rest of them” she admitted.
“I like those too” Katie told her “Order of the Phoenix is my favorite so when you get to see that one, think about me”
Anna smiled “I will” she was glad that Katie liked her and thought she was cool. Her memories of Katie adjusting as they went.
They talked about other movies and music until the door opened and Maddie came in. Anna stood up and smiled at the tall girl in the doorway. Maddie was 5’10” and while yesterday Anna had been just a few inches shorter than her, now she was about a foot shorter and didn’t make it past her shoulder.
“You ready to go guys?” Maddie asked.
“Yeah!” Anna said.
“We are” Katie answered as they headed out for their walk across campus to the ball fields.
“We know a couple of the players, so if you want to go into the dugout, we can get you in” Maddie told Anna on their walk.
“That would be so cool” Anna said genuinely excited. “I play softball…outfield mostly but sometimes I get to play second base” she told them.
“Good, are you going to keep playing through school?” Katie asked.
“I’d like to but I don’t know if I’m good enough” Anna answered as thoughts of softball practice filled her mind. “I’m not the best player”
“As long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters” Katie told her cheering her up.
They got to the field and sat in the first row behind the dugout “Is that Heather Resnick?” Anna asked. “She’s like the best player on the team”
“Yeah…you want to meet her after the game…that’s one of our friends out there” Maddie informed her.
“Yeah” Anna said suddenly a bit nervous and intimidated. She once again stopped and thought “I was in Biology with Heather yesterday…now I’m a star struck little kid around her…crazy…”
Anna enjoyed the game; Katie bought her popcorn and a soda and afterwards, she found an extra mitt and Heather played catch with her.
The ball seemed to come in faster and her throws seemed weaker and slower but with effort, she got them to Heather as fast as she could. She enjoyed every second of it and every compliment her favorite player gave to her.
After getting a quick hug from Heather and words of encouragement, a blushing Anna left the stadium with Katie and Maddie perfectly happy “This is the best day…how could I ever go back to my old life” she thought.
As Zoe was working away, her phone went off in her pocket. She pulled it out thinking maybe Anna needed something but instead the name Ryan popped up and her heart fluttered “My boyfriend” popped into her mind.
“Whoa” she stopped suddenly “I can’t have a boyfriend…” but thoughts of being with him flooded into her mind and made her toes curl and her body tingle now. She opened his message ‘Miss U…have fun with your sis…see you Sunday night’
She quickly typed back ‘Daw…UR the best…luv u…cu Sunday’ and put her phone away before her boss Jeff saw it out.
The onions were simmering and she was mixing in the rest of the ingredients knowing full well that she smelled like sweat, onions and grease currently. The kitchen was hot and she’d been on her feet for 4 hours. She flexed her aching feet and rolled her shoulders to ease her back.
“Swiss cheese still needs shredding then go help Dana get the salad bar ready” Jeff said as he hurried past.
“On my way” Zoe replied. She sighed and went to the cooler for the cheese blocks.
Zoe was pouring dressing into the various holders when she saw her sister come in with her two friends. She gave a little wave and got three in return as she used her forearm to push her hair back out of her face. She wore a ball cap to keep it tucked up but a few stray blonde strands had worked their way down.
“Looks like she’s holding up just fine” she thought satisfied.
Anna came in at 5:30 with her sister’s friends. As the day had progressed, she had thought less and less about being their equal; now she saw herself as a kid more than ever and she was fine with it and actually enjoying it. She loved being fussed over by girls who were now 9 years older than her. “This is where I belong” she thought.
She scooted into the booth, her feet dangling above the floor which was something that she loved. She felt the vinyl sticking to the back of her skinny legs as she made her way closer to the wall. Maddie came in next to her and Katie sat across from her “Guests of the staff get to eat free” they reminded her and Anna smiled in her big sister’s direction.
“Looks like she’s working hard” Anna said.
“Yeah, it’s pretty physical working here but it’s better than some other jobs on campus” Katie told her.
A few other girls came over and talked to either Katie or Maddie while they waited and all had a smile and a Hello for Anna but not one of them had a clue on what had happened to her.
As 6 approached, the three of them went through the line and got food. Anna now just wanted chicken nuggets and fries instead of anything fancier.
By then, Zoe was done with her shift and filling her own tray. She skipped the soup though as after making it, she didn’t want to eat it.
“What’s up kiddo” Zoe asked as she made her way to their table “How was today?”
“It was great…I had a great time” Anna replied honestly but a bit disturbed as she couldn’t think of a better or different word than great to describe her day.
“Awesome sauce” Zoe said settling in.
“You stink sis” Anna told her.
Zoe gave a knowing smile “I know; it’s called work and you’ll have to do it in a few years too”
Anna just smiled back and dropped her head to eat.
Zoe got caught up on their day and gossip as they all ate and talked. Anna noticed how easily Zoe fell into conversation with her friends, like they had been friends all along all year.
They headed across the grass; grass Zoe would always associate with changing ages with her sister to the dorm.
“Come back down to the TV Anna” Katie told her “Your sister has to shower and she can join us when she’s done”
“Okay” Anna said smiling sheepishly.
The two sisters went into Zoe’s room together first though. Once behind the doors, they both broke out into wide excited smiles “This is so awesome” they both said to the other.
“I love being a kid again” Anna said with all the enthusiasm she could.
“I love being a college girl” Zoe said.
“Oh I’m so happy to hear you say that” Anna said.
“Me too; I really don’t want to change back. I can’t change back. I can’t go back to being 11 again” Zoe said.
“I don’t want to be 19 again until I get there in another 8 years sis” Anna said. “Don’t make me change back”
“Don’t make me change back” Zoe said.
Anna just smiled and Zoe said “So we’re agreed…we stay this way from now on”
Anna nodded and brought her arms up to her chest “Nothing would make me happier”
“Me too…little sis” Zoe said putting her pinky out.
Anna pinky swore with her and said “It’s all yours…big sis”
Zoe blushed now and brushed her wild hair out of her eyes. A knock on the door and Katie’s voice on the other side told them “Come on Anna, I’ve got a surprise for you”
Anna smiled and opened the door.
“Come on…we’re watching Goblet of Fire tonight…don’t tell your Mom” Katie announced.
Anna bounced with glee and rushed after Katie down the hall.
Zoe closed the door with her foot and stood alone in her dorm room “All mine now” she said to herself. She stripped down out of her dirty and stinky clothes tossing them into her laundry bag. She caught glimpses of her improved figure but she was getting more and more used to her adult body now. It was still new and a novelty but she was understanding what it meant and how to use it.
She grabbed a towel and her robe and went to the showers at the end of the hall, taking her time to wash the day’s work off of her.
She lingered in her room, brushing her hair and even painting her toe nails before she put on some shorts and a t-shirt and joined her sister and her friends in the movie.
Anna was enthralled and wrapped up in it and Zoe spent most of her time texting Ryan. When the movie was over, Anna thanked Katie and Maddie for the day as Zoe ushered her up to her room.
“I like the red nail polish on your feet Zoe” Anna told her sister as they got ready for bed.
“Thanks…my feet are so big now…I mean they were big at 11 but now…” Zoe admitted. “I’m still getting used to this”
“But something else is at work too you know” Anna said.
“I know…and so do you” Zoe said sitting down on what was now her bed.
Anna sat on Olivia’s bed “All day I could tell I was still changing you know”
“Adjusting is how I thought of it” Zoe added. “Our minds and our bodies adjusting to our new ages”
“I forget most of what I learned this year” Anna said. “I can’t remember what I learned in high school either. I remember going in a way…but not really. My brain is back to being 11”
Zoe nodded and scrunched her toes up on the carpet as she looked down on them. “What you lost, I gained. I know who I am and how old I’m supposed to be but I also know what I need to know to live like this” Zoe said. “You remember how old you’re supposed to be but you don’t get the free pass of keeping all your school and life knowledge about being older”
“I have to live it again and learn it again” Anna said.
Zoe nodded: She got up and went over to her sister. Anna stood up and they hugged each other; Zoe resting her chin on Anna’s head “I remember you doing this to me when I was the little sister” she said.
Anna hugged her tighter.
Zoe returned to her bed and crawled under her covers and turned on her side “Goodnight Kiddo” she said to Anna.
Anna tucked herself into Olivia’s bed “G’Night”
Both went to sleep much quicker that night and woke up feeling refreshed on Sunday morning.
Anna woke up with energy; sitting up and running her fingers through her straight brown hair as she spied on her still sleeping big sister “Did I make that much of a lump in the covers when I was her size and age?” she thought as she looked at her sister’s jutting hips and butt which were facing her.
Soon enough, Zoe began to turn and wake up “Mornin” she mumbled in her deep voice. She swung her legs out and put her feet flat on the floor as she blinked and pushed her hair back off her face. She knew she had a test in Economics on Monday and needed to study for it.
“Mom will be here in a few hours” Anna reminded her.
“It’ll be fine” Zoe reassured her “I’m sure she will see us as who we are now too”
“I know she will; I’m just looking forward to going home is all” Anna said with a shrug.
Zoe stopped and looked at her sister “Enjoy it Kiddo” she said with a smirk. She scratched her thigh as she went out to the bathroom.
Anna watched her leave with a smile and started getting out clothes for the day and packing her duffel bag back up with her dirty clothes. She pulled her hair into a ponytail; it was kind of loose and crooked “I did this better at 19” she told herself.
Zoe came back and saw her little sister’s progress. She undid her hair and pulled it up into a better ponytail “There ya go squirt” she told her.
“Thanks” Anna replied. She put on a gray top and black tights to go along with her flip-flops as Zoe got dressed in jeans and a Rams sweatshirt along with her flip-flops.
They headed out for breakfast and cut through the grass where Zoe admitted “Every time I cross this path; I’m going to think about us running over it…me getting bigger and older and you getting smaller and younger”
Anna smiled “I like that thought too”
After eating, Zoe’s phone went off “Hey Mom” she said picking it up.
“How’s my baby?” she asked.
“She’s fine Mom thanks for asking about me too” Zoe teased.
“Oh I know you are Zoe…tell your sister that I’m heading to baggage claim and I should be there in about an hour”
“I will”
“Love you two” Sharon Green told her older daughter Zoe before hanging up with a quick “Bye”
“Mom’ll be here in an hour” Zoe said putting her phone down.
“Yea” Anna responded. She closed her eyes and pictured her own room. She knew how it was decorated; she saw flashes of her friends at school, her softball team and her trumpet lessons.
“Let’s get back so you can be ready to go” Zoe said standing up.
“Are you trying to get rid of me?” Anna asked.
“No…I love spending time with you and this weekend…” she looked down at her sister “This weekend has changed everything and been the most awesome and mid blowing weekend of both of our lives; but…I need to study for my Econ test tomorrow” she added with a smile.
Anna smiled back “I have reading homework too. I’m supposed to be reading the Odyssey”
“I remember reading that” Zoe told her as they tossed out their trash.
“So how does it end?” Anna asked.
“He gets home…defeats the suitors…something about a bedpost that’s built into a tree…lives with Penelope…I don’t know, it’s been like 8 years since I read it” Zoe admitted before giving her sister a knowing glance which made Anna laugh.
They walked across the grass one more time together. Anna stopped halfway across and took off her shoes. She handed them to Zoe who slipped out of her own. Anna stepped into her sister’s flip-flops and looked down; they were several sizes too big for her now. She lifted her toes and saw how much room she had from her heel to the back and sides of them “To think these were mine two days ago”
Zoe dropped Anna’s flip flops and put her feet in them “Yeah” she said as she looked down. She tucked her hair behind her ears to keep it out of her face as she stared down. Her toes hung off the end and her heels hung over the back. She lifted her toes up and her heels up as well “These fit me two days ago too”
They both stepped out and changed shoes back to the ones that fit “Love you kiddo” Zoe told her sister.
“Love you too” Anna replied.
Once back at the dorm, Anna gathered her stuff and they waited in the common room for their Mom.
She came in and Anna rushed up to hug her. “I missed you honey” Sharon told Anna.
“I missed you too” Anna replied meaning much more than anyone but her could ever know.
“She behaved herself?” Sharon asked as Zoe came over.
“Of course, it was like she had lived here all along” Zoe said to Anna’s amusement. “She hung out with her friends…mastered the cafeteria…” Zoe added smiling.
“Thanks Zoe and thank your friends for me who hung out with her too” Sharon said.
“I will” Zoe replied.
“How are you doing? It’s getting close to finals” Sharon asked Zoe.
“It is…I’m doing fine though; got a test tomorrow I’m going to study for the rest of the day”
“Good; your room will be ready for you when you’re done for the summer” Sharon reminded her.
“I’m actually looking forward to a few weeks at home this summer” Zoe said. “I can hang out with my growing up little sister”
Anna smiled.
“You ready to go home?” Sharon asked Anna.
Anna nodded and grabbed her bag “You know it”
Sharon and Anna walked out but not before Anna gave one last glance over her shoulder. She smiled a wicked knowing smile only to see it returned with a wave by her older sister Zoe.
Anna hopped into her Mom’s car realizing that it was all rides for her again, she didn’t remember how to drive anymore. She smiled at the thought.
“When we get home, I’ll get your laundry started and make lunch while you do your homework” Sharon told her young daughter.
“Thanks Mom” Anna said already slipping into her new role.
Once she saw the car pull away, Zoe whipped out her phone and texted Ryan ‘I’m free meet U at the library’
She grabbed her back pack and headed out as her phone binged ‘see u soon’
Zoe smiled and rushed to their favorite spot on the third floor. She was waiting when she saw him come around the corner.
Ryan smiled at the sight of her and she stood up as he approached. They kissed long and hard for several seconds; the electricity running through Zoe’s receptive body. “Hey babe” he said to her “I missed you”
“Not as much as I missed you” she replied with a playful pat on his ass.
They settled in on a couch with Zoe kicking off her shoes and curling up on him as she told him about her weekend with her little sister.
