The door closed in front of me and I stared at it for a moment, unable to speak or to move. “What…uh…ah” I said in my high voice.

I tried to comprehend what had just happened to me and to my friend but my mind seemed to stall.

“Slow down…just slow down…and…and try to make some sense out of this” I said to myself as the baby stared to cry.

Upon hearing the cry, my maternal instincts kicked in naturally and I whipped around to see the small infant wrapped in a pink outfit on a play mat on the floor. “Oh come here honey” I said as I walked over to my daughter.

I picked the baby up effortlessly and ran my index finger gently down from her forehead over her nose as I began to sway and rock back and forth “Sshh, Sshh, Sshh…it’s okay” I said as I patted the front of her diaper and gave a quick sniff before deciding that she didn’t need changed.

“Are you hungry?” I asked as I could see her tiny mouth begin to open and work.

I backed up to the sofa and sat myself down along with my baby in my arms. In one deft motion, I lifted up my shirt and freed my right breast, exposing my nipple to her greedy little mouth. She began suckling and I could feel milk flowing through me to nourish my baby.

I bounced a bit in the beginning until she fell into an easy rhythm and I settled back. I was able to lift my tiny feet up and put them up on the sofa as she continued feeding.

I wiggled my small toes at the end of my short and skinny legs. The pink nail polish shone brightly in the light of the living room, my pale bare feet stood out against the loose black tights I was wearing along with a big denim button down shirt. I still felt more comfortable in loose clothing around the house being just three months post-partum.
My mind was still straining and coming to grips with what had just happened.

I write stories…certain types of stories that sometimes elicit a war like response. I knew that I had just become like the subjects of my stories. I was no longer a 6’3” guy…I was a 5’3” woman.

My baby had been a compatriot of mine named The Amazing Bob; a skillful magician adept at body swaps, gender swaps and age swaps.

Somehow, we had been overtaken by the EWL and a previous victim of mine, Diana…

I had the small satisfaction of knowing that she would fare no better than I in her own way. She would soon know the joys of motherhood; at least I had gotten to skip the labor and delivery part.

“What am I going to do?” I asked myself as I swept my long hair back and away from my face. My hands took in my small facial features and I realized with a bit irony that at least I was cute.

“Looks aren’t everything Sarah” I reminded myself.

As Amanda got full and drifted off to sleep, I adjusted my shirt back up and brought her up to burp her before I put her in her swing and let her take a nap.

The whole house had changed in the shift, it was now full of baby items and was decorated much nicer. I smiled wryly and shrugged my shoulders. I knew that part of my mind should be fighting this, but another part of it was accepting it, embracing it even.

I saw a mirror on the wall and I walked over to it softly and lightly so as to not wake Amanda. I took in my new face and looked down at my new body “What are you going to do Sarah…fight it…or accept it” I thought to myself.

I closed my eyes, set my jaw and balled my fists. I took a deep breath…with enough concentration I knew that I could determine my fate…

I opened my eyes as I exhaled and looked around, content with my decision. I smiled at the reflection in the mirror. I flipped my long hair back off my ears and padded to the kitchen to get my breast pump. I wanted to get some milk in reserve before we went out shopping later, it was going to be a long trip and I didn’t need a fussy baby.
