I was aiming to get part 3 of AutoCosplay finished today but unfortunately ran out of time. Sorry about that! So here's a bit of fantasy worldbuilding instead, just fleshing out some of the non-empire nations of the world. I slightly ran out of confidence halfway through, as it would have been nice to portray them as a bit more sophisticated than skinsuit-loving psychopaths, but by then it was 3am, so this is all I have 😅
Although tbh, the real world priests of Xipe Totec genuinely couldn't get enough of all that yummy skin.

For generations, the Empire had pushed southwards, seeking the source of the fleshcrafting knives and techniques that worked their way up the trade routes. Encountering the Totek for the first time was the moment the Empire began to question the wisdom of expansion, and to look back wistfully on its days as a minor city state tending vineyards and disputing irrigation rights. The Totek were the first power to match them in scale and cruelty: a mostly human empire stretching across thousands of miles of troll-infested jungle, worshippers of the Flayed God, Xilonen, and his skin-pantheon.
Captives taken by the Totek may be kept alive for months. Their voices and postures are studied closely by priests while their bodies are ritually marked with tattoos tracing the major arteries and muscle groups. They undergo cycles of forced feeding and starvation designed to soften the flesh and loosen the skin in preparation.
Horror spread through the Imperial ranks when soldiers first recognised the faces of abducted comrades advancing toward them on the battlefield. The Totek were wearing them. The advance collapsed into a panicked rout, and ever since the Empire has struggled to contain Totek expansion across a narrow isthmus of land. The Totek have proven themselves fleshcrafters without equal, and anyone or anything attempting to pass along the isthmus is treated with suspicion. Any man or woman is considered a potential warrior or spy in disguise, and whole stretches of jungle have been burned to deny cover to men dressed in animal form.
At the apex of Totek society stands a priestly caste, artisans of flesh who oversee the flensing rituals for their god. In their defence, without these rituals of death and rebirth, repeatedly donning and shedding the skins of their victims in imitation of their creation myth, the world would not be renewed each morning and the sun would be extinguished. As a convenient consequence of this belief system, the priests have achieved near-immortality, so long as their bodies are refreshed with a steady supply of sacrifices. They now look to the Empire to provide that supply, and their raiding parties have grown relentless.
