Caelom was admitted largely on account of his prestigious lineage. Despite their high hopes for him, he struggled in his studies, and failed to engage productively with the cutthroat politics of his peers. Rather than attend combat classes, he took to hiding around the kitchen, where he fed, befriended and unwittingly familiarised one of the stray cats.

Shortly after acheiving sapience, the familiar began 'feeding' upon him, as felines are wont to do. Caelom did not resist the process. However, on the urging of his family, the school attempted to sever the familial bond. The stray is a born survivor, resisting the attempts on its life and also placing several of Caelom's former bullies in the Medical Wing.

Their bond appears to be settling into a stable codependency.

Caelom has become little more than an arcane conduit, as the familiar now wields his magic competently. He appears content with this. As is the school, frankly - the stray has proven itself a competent asset and will be matriculated accordingly. Please extend my apologies to Caelom's family.
