Okay, I admit, it was entirely for the pun 😅

Breath Implant

Uncommon (requires attunement)

A Breath Implant is a symbiotic ooze implanted beneath the skin, typically near the lungs. While the host is at rest, the organism siphons and concentrates a portion of oxygen from the host’s bloodstream, storing it within its own tissues. If it detects that its host is suffocating, the implant releases this reserve to sustain them.

As a bonus action, the host may activate the Breath Implant by deliberately holding their breath. For 1 hour, the host gains the following benefits:

Upon deactivating the Implant, the host’s speed is halved for double the length of time the Implant was active, as the organism recoups its oxygen debt.

Breath Stimplant

Rare (requires attunement)

An evolved form of the Breath Ooze, a Breath Stimplant must be matured within the body of a barbarian for an entire lifetime. In many warrior cultures, possession of a well-developed pair is a mark of martial prowess or a noble inheritance.

In addition to the functions of a Breath Implant, the Stimplant acts as an auxiliary adrenal gland, storing adrenal compounds from the blood for use in combat. When activated, typically by the vigorous pounding of the chest, the Stimplant releases a flood of adrenaline and testosterone, inducing a feral rage. The host gains the benefits of the Barbarian rage features for one minute.

Once the effect wears off, the host takes disadvantage on all Strength and Intimidation checks until a Long Rest, as the organism recoups its hormonal debt. Chronic overuse of the Stimplant can cause a gradual feminization of the appearance.
