The Baby Boomers were the oldest (and thus first) recipients of the fledgling cellular regeneration technology, regen, provided freely by the NGO FreeGen.

Administered as a single injection, regeneration slows aging to 1/20th of its normal rate. Additional organ transplants, taken from youthful donors, may then revert the recipient to a young state. Tissue harvested from cadavers was initially used, but the finite supply of fresh corpses soon started to run out. Thankfully the US Senate (average age 87) was successful in encouraging a fresh supply via heavy tax incentives for young people to act as living donors, as well as several Middle Eastern wars.

This reinvigorated generation strives to consolidate what they have, politically and financially. The economic disruptions and demand for jobs caused by the rapid influx of healthy workers have allowed employer rights to be curtailed, with existing business owners reaping the gains. The political system has been reconfigured with minimal age requirements for positions of power (as well as voting) increasing year-on-year. The non-profit FreeGen was acquired and reconfigured into the for-profit Department for Regulated Regeneration (DReGen).

In terms of their bodies, the Boomer Generation favors youth over all else. The display of a healthy, virile body, ideally taken from a single donor, is a display of wealth and success. While younger generations may be more ostentatiously gene-modded, Boomers opt for simplicity and understatement. Women's bodies are particularly favored, being traded like works of art.

Secondary to the physical, the acquisition of a genuinely 20-something partner, either via seduction or coercion, is prized as proof that the geriatric individual still remains socially hip and relevant.
