This is technically part 4 to the part 5 I uploaded by accident a week ago 😋 this one took a bit of editing

The kobold body-thief loomed over Lytar.

"Celeste! Me save help!" Lytar squealed desperately.

"Celeste? Is that her name?" the kobold hissed quietly. She's a breeder of your kind, yes? A human woman?" She licked his lips and trailed one finger up his gilded codpiece, baring his teeth in a broad sneer. Your body likes to look at her, I sense. Perhaps I'll be breeding her while you lay the next generation of my kind."

How dare she soil his oath of chastity! With a feral snarl, he lunged. The silver gauntlet hit him like a warhammer, launching his small, scaled body into the cavern wall. Jagged rocks dug into his side. He lay dazed. Through blurred vision, he saw the outline of his companions. None moved to help. They turned away and he was alone.

As silence returned, the reptiles began to poke their ugly heads from burrows and hiding holes. They were pragmatic monsters - there was no singing of lamentations. Without ceremony, they started to haul their dead from their warrens. Industriously, the many traps that Lytar had sprung were rearmed with boulders and bolts. They moved with the urgency of creatures expecting another attack at any moment. He shrank back against the wall. He was defenseless in a nest of vipers.

A hulking male stepped over him, extending a clawed hand. He flinched. It was some moments before Lytar realized it was helping him to his feet. "Did monster hurt you?"

"'Monster'?" Lytar stammered.

"Human monster," the male explained. Lytar flinched. He was not a monster! "It kill so many. Attacked the creche. Killed the Broodmother and Brooddaughters," it said with a sad shake of its head.

Had that been a creche? Lytar vaguely remembered stomping through the shallow, steaming pools of a side cavern in a haze of holy fury, crushing smaller kobolds and eggs beneath his armored boots. He looked around at the death and destruction he'd caused. He felt lost for words, and not just from the scant vocabulary within his tiny lizard brain. "I... sorry," he stammered.

The male cracked a toothy grin. "No! Is good news! You get promotion! Female no longer dirty tunnel-scraper." It seized him by the tail and began to drag him excitedly in the direction of the birthing pools. "Lucky female new egg-maker!"
