Tripartite Polymorph
Inside every man are three halflings in a trenchcoat just waiting to get out. It is a simple matter of removing the excess. This spell is an invaluable addition to any spellbook, for use when facing down brutes with more brawn than brains, cutting them down to size before they cut you down.
5th-level Transmutation
Casting Time: :: 1 action
Range: :: 60 feet
Components: :: V, S, M (A scrap of trenchcoat)
Duration: :: Instantaneous
Classes: :: Bard, Druid, Wizard
This spell splits the target creature's mind and body into three separate creatures, stacked atop one another, each one size smaller than the original. An unwilling creature must make a Wisdom saving throw to avoid the effect.
The target is divided into three identical creatures of any beast or humanoid whose challenge rating is equal to or less than a third of the target's, rounded down (or the target's class level, if it doesn't have a challenge rating), with each creature possessing a third of the target's hitpoints, rounded down. The creature is limited in the actions it can perform by the nature of its new bodies, and it cannot speak or cast spells with somatic components if its new bodies lack mouths or hands.
The target's attributes, including mental ability scores, are replaced by the statistics of the chosen beast, though each part retains its original alignment, memories, and personality. All three creatures share a mental link while they remain on the same plane. They share a soul and cannot be subject to a Resurrection spell while another part still lives.
The transformation lasts indefinitely or until dismissed by the original caster. Dispel Magic does not reverse the transmutation effect, though does sever the mental link, causing the creature to act independently.
