Apologies for not uploading in a while. Have been really run down the last 2-3 weeks and mostly slept through the weekend ☹️ hope everyone is doing well.
I work in customer support for Live You Long Time. We're an online-based matchmaking service that connects older, wealthy Western people with young, attractive individuals in less developed nations (typically the poorer post-soviet or SE Asian states) looking to improve their standing in life. Live You Long Time is the intermediary, curating the profiles and hosting the virtual space where both parties, often on other sides of the planet, can meet up and get to know each other before entering into their binding, lifelong agreement.
There's a good chance now that you're thinking we're some sort of dating sitee, like a Mail Order Bride service. It's a misconception unfortunately shared by many of our clients. The company name certainly doesn't help - we've begged the owner to change it so many times.
The truth is we're a lifeswap service. Many entrepreneurs, having spent so much of their life building their wealth, come to a point where they wish they had their time again, and start looking for fresh meat to inhabit. We provide a catalog of lives for sale. And there are always men and women born into deprivation with nothing to sell except their youth and looks. It's a skeezy and predatory industry, but the donors aren't always innocent victims either.
See, we get a lot of guys who wander in, mistaking our service as a dating site for hooking up with impoverished overseas women desperate for a Green Card. They slip on the neural interface, hop into the virtual meeting space, and start trying to chat up the girls. And the girls aren't exactly in a hurry to clarify things. Who can blame them? Why should they settle for trading lives with the 70-year-old CEO escaping his arthritic, overweight body like a rat fleeing a sinking gravy boat, when here they have a potential prize - a young, healthy hunk, drunk and horny and accidentally wandered into the wrong chatroom. They swarm the poor, confused sap like vultures, flirting outrageously. All they need to do is get him to consent.
To say English is their second language, the ladies are very canny with their turns of phrase. "Don't you want my body?" they'll say. Or "You can be inside me if you just click that button". Or "Let's share our lives together". All it takes is for the man to click 'Accept' and suddenly he finds himself screaming down a phoneline to Cambodia or Nigeria, opening his eyes in some back-alley cybercafe; his mind burned into her brain; his body, property and citizenship now legally hers.
We get a tonne of customer complaints. Some report legitimate coercion, while others are simply buyer's remorse. As a customer support agent, my job is to validate their claims to determine if the swap was legally valid or if there exist grounds for a forced reversion. There is a lot of analyzing of biometrics, studying the shock response in the moment between them realising exactly what has happened and them ripping the interface off their scalp. I analyse dozens of hours of grainy webcam footage, replayed in slow motion to examine the microexpressions. If you've seen one pretty woman clawing at her face in horror in an internet cafe, you've seen them all.
Whenever we get a new report, our first piece of advice is always for them to hang up and call their lawyer. Now. Because the person wearing their skin will be racing to get their first. And once their lawyer determines who is now writing their cheques, that person will almost always win the legal battle to claim ownership.
