Katherine held Aiden's ginger hair back to keep it from becoming trapped by the seal, as she pressed the helmet down around his head. The helmet clicked into place, air-tight seal. Aiden moved his head from side to side, experiencing the weight of his long equine muzzle for the first time.

"Quite an upgrade, no?" Katherine said, pocketing the dripping ballgag that it replaced. "I told the engineers we needed something sleek and aerodynamic. They were happy to oblige - I think they're as eager for you to win as I am. How does it feel?"

Aiden spoke but the sound was muffled within the helmet. Katherine smiled. "And of course, it serves to keep you quiet... modest. Even with the gag, you were quite loud last night. Enjoying the attention of your mate, were you? I was glad to hear it but this is a working farm. We can't have you unsettling the farmhands with your groaning while they're mucking out the stables."

Katherine thumbed a switch on the helmet's underside. A convincing equine neigh was relayed to the outside world via an embedded speaker. "Now you're free to be as loud as you like, and the only thing anyone will hear is the sound of a mare."

At the far end of the field, the gathered stallions had pricked up their ears at the noise. They were not as intrepid as Maverick and had, until now, regarded the strange half-human creation with wary confusion. The equine head seemed to set them at ease and they came cantering over, sniffing the new arrival. Aiden gave a timid whinny.

"They must be trying to figure out if you're the real deal or the collection machine we use to extract their..." She trailed off, studying Aiden's rear end. Now there was an upgrade that would be useful around the farm. And she wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Or any other orifice for that matter.
