TFPD: The Neural Extractor, aka The Possession Gun by Transviscera

So that's the neural extractor. Existentially terrifying, yes, but on a day-to-day basis it's rarely a threat. Since many shooters tend to incapacitate themselves or simply blow their brains out into space, they rarely get used more than once. Plus nobody is going to be dispatching a rookie to deal with a crazed neural gunman.
But, when that day comes, you'll be issued one of these. It's a standard issue swap-proof vest. My partner, Officer Sullivan, has kindly agreed to model for us. Most of yours won't fit quite so snugly. Go ahead, take a closer look. Touch it if you like.
Feel familiar? There's nothing particularly high-tech to a swapvest. Your granddaddies on the force were wearing these in the 1920s. It's leather. Sometimes they use natural latex, sometimes silk. The new ones have some sort of bio-neural... polymer... stuff. Anyway, the important thing is that a neural extractor beam will pass through just about anything except organic objects, and there's juuust enough life left in these things to intercept some mean mother hubbard trying to hijack your body.
Touch it again. Pay attention to that slight squirm. The way it moves like its desperate to crawl off Sullivan's body. That's one less sadistic bodysnatcher on the streets. Now a helpful showpiece.
If you're not wearing your swapvest and staring down the barrel of a soul-swapper, anything organic you can put between you and your attacker will do. Wrap yourself in bacon if you have to.
Want to give us one last twirl, Sullivan? Loves the attention, this one... Loves it... Alright, that's enough, quit showboating.
Oh. And before any of you young bucks fall madly in love, Officer Sullivan will be swanning off into retirement with his long-suffering wife in a few weeks. Thirty years with the force, man and boy.
That'll be you one day. Kiss your dicks goodbye, lads, you're in the TFPD now.
