After several earth invasions in a month, nerves were frayed in the Justice League. Even long-time comrades were snapping at each other, and the orbital headquarters felt like a powder keg, just waiting for a spiralling argument to vent the entire space station with an errant laser beam.
In short, they needed a vacation.
"I pulled a few strings with my mother," Diana said joyously. "Okay, I pulled ALL the strings. You guys are going to Themyscira!"
"What about the taboos?" Batman scowled. "If you hadn't noticed, we're all men."
"Oh, our healers have arts that can take care of that," Diana said airily. The amazonian surgeons had accrued plenty of experience emasculating the Greek sailors that washed up over the millennia. How absurd it seemed to her that they lived in isolation, in fear of men, when all it took was a few snips and prolonged exposure to the purple healing ray to turn a man into a Themysciran.
To be feminized with such skill and returned to Man's World had always been considered a gift.
"It'll be a great way to unwind. You'll each live the lives of Themyscirans. All the worries of the modern world gone. Just sun, sand, and-"
"-sappho?" the Flash interject with a lurid grin.
"Absolutely not!" Diana retorted. "My mother is allowing this only on the promise you not sully the sanctity of the island, nor demean the female form. If she caught you doing anything that displeases her..." Her mind drifted to her Hippolyta's private sanctum, the one she didn't think her daughter knew of, and she shuddered to recall the fleshy trophies stored there from all those shipwrecked sailors. "... she may not let you leave."
"Well I think it's a great idea," Superman smiled. "And don't worry, Diana, we're not there to cause trouble. We're more than capable of behaving ourselves while we're there."
