It was hubris that was his undoing. Superman had been patrolling Gotham as a favor to Bruce. After all, he was the Man of Steel. He was comfortably beyond the power class of any of Batman's rogue's gallery. Swooping through the streets, his superhearing caught the shatter of glass coming from a toy store and he descended to investigate.
Toyman. An F Tier villain if ever there was one. Superman approached casually, not even bothering to react with his super speed as the eccentric dollmaker spun around, raising a strange stick. A blast of arcane light struck Superman in the chest.
The pulse of energy rippled through his body, a rare kryptonian scream freezing in his throat as his flesh solidified with agonizing slowless into cold, hard plastic. The magic was crushing him, compressing his powerful form into something a few inches tall. His mouth filled as his head became a simple, solid lump of plastic, his facial features merely painted upon its surface.
Where does a man like Toyman get an Ibistick?! Superman wailed silently as the reality-perverting energies faded from the nigh omnipotent magic wand in the villain's hand. The Toyman loomed over him, impossibly tall, a wicked sneer on his face. With the last of his motility, Superman could only wobble on his pedestal, though soon even that was taken from him. He was trapped, powerless, utterly immobile.
Toyman picked him up. His oily fingertips carressed Superman's plastic legs and breasts. "What a perfect collector's item you make, Superman," the man crooned, carrying him over to a shelf of anime figurines. "How I would love to keep you forever, to make you mine." He sighed, picking up a pricing gun. "Alas, I fear one of your friends would one day raid my collection and revert you, and that would never do."
The pricing gun pressed against the hero, sealing his fate far worse than any real gun ever could, as a 'Discount -$9.99' sticker was plastered against him. The Toyman tossed him in among a pile of bargain figurines.
"I'm sure you'll sell in no time. This way I'll always know you're out there, somewhere. Forever aware. Forever a toy," the Toyman giggled, turning and walking away, leaving the Man of Plastic to his doom.
