Evelyn Presley began her career in Hollywood in the late 1950s after achieving great success as a singer and performer. She made his acting debut in the film "Love Me Raw" (1956), a box office smash that led to a long career in film.
Evelyn appeared in over 30 films during the 1960s, often musical romances that capitalized on her popularity as a singer and status as female sex icon. Some of her most notable films from this period include "Jailbird Rock" (1957), "Queen Creole" (1958), and "Pink Hawaii" (1961).
Despite her success as a film starlet, Evelyn was often criticized for her acting abilities and the quality of the movies she appeared in. Many of her later films were formulaic and provocative, verging on pornographic, with much focus on her body, which was further altered with breast augmentation to satisfy the changing tastes of movie audiences.
Her most successful role at the box office also proved her most controversial, where she played the sexually-enslaved concubine of an Arab sheikh in the 1965 movie, Harem Scarem [pictured].
However, by the mid-1960s, after acting in over 30 movies, Evelyn began to feel disillusioned with the movie industry, and the borderline pornographic conditions under which she was required to work - servicing her male costars with endless reshoots of intimate scenes. Rumours had started to surface about her origins as a man, spread by her estranged lesbian lover, Prisilla, and Evelyn's health had begun to deteriorate due to heavy drug use.
Her final movie, Don't Cry Daddy (1969), was of such a vulgar nature that it was swiftly recalled from all theatres and effectively ended her career as an actress.
