It was a temporary thing.

Lily Crowe purposely turned herself into a treasure chest for a small little adventure themed event for the kids that were visiting the mall. Seeing their delightful smiles were amazing as they 'slay' the monster and go on. Various staff members she assigned to each corner either helped guide the kids on doing side missions or pretend to be monsters to take them down.

Well. Not pretend. She turned them into monsters that would respawn in a timer. Nothing too painful. It was a harmless experience and they would be turned back to normal at the end of the day. Everyone was fine with it after all.

So here she was now as a treasure chest.  Each kid would take a photo with their parents beside her and would not know that the mall’s owner was her. A wonderful emerald-gold-white chest for them to remember and the many delicious treats around them to take in. It was nice and peaceful. Allowed an easy way for her to make things fun and keep watch over everyone.

But now it was time to close. Her spell was going to end in 6-

"Yoink!"

!?!?

Her lid snapped open. A snotty fat kid rubbed his sweaty hands as he looked over her contents. She... Wait, she didn't plan for this. That kid must’ve snuck in before anyone could’ve noticed. As of right now she can't undo it but he was getting his grubby hands over her. Wait! Stop it!

"The hell is this... Witch's Magic 101? Lame!"

The sound of something landing far away alerted Luna. If she didn't have that she'd lose everything she knew about the arcane. No. She was a prodigy. She can still adapt and come up with a spell that’s not taught. She’d have to use her own knowledge-

"High heels? A wig and some diary? That's girly stuff!"

?!? Lily tried to shift but of course a treasure chest can't do that. Forget magic. If a diary was something she lost then she'd have no recollection of anything-

"Oh there we go! A wallet! An ID..."

Her ID!? What was that supposed to represent!? Lily was getting more frantic as she tried to come up with a solution to this fix.

"And ah- a dress? The heck... I don't know what I'm gonna do with this. Looks like the manager lady. So she left her clothes?... And a doll too? Oh hell yeah! It looks like those R18 stuff! I can sell this! Even jewelry!! Yes!!"

That last one was of less concern but Lily was trying to gather mana now. She could see what he took out though. Some sort of massive doll that looked like it represented her. It was a lewd and noticeable doll… Her staff would surely notice right away if that was brought out by this unsightly kid. But it worried her. If that was taken out it was bad. That represented her body so what could possibly happen? No. That wasn’t what she needed to focus on. She gathered all her will. All her magic as she finally created an incantation to remember. The treasure chest was glowing brightly green now at this point. After all her spell would go off and she’d turn back to normal. Magical rules be damne-

“Woah!”

Plop

The lid was closed.

-........................................

The kid blinked.

Samson stared at the unassuming box. Was the treasure box thing here supposed to look just like a cardboard box?... Weird. He was also sure it was glowing just moments ago and that prompted him to drop the lid on it by accident. He opened the box again trying to see if there was anything else. It wasn’t a security feature.

………………………………..

“Huh. Nothing,” Samson chuckled as he pocketed the wallet. It was definitely that mall lady’s stuff. Wonder why she kept it here? Oh well. “Scooooore!”

And he kicked the box! Sending it flying, crumpled, into a corner with all the other decor. Actually it landed by some boxes so he wasn’t sure which one it was anymore. Maybe if he checked to see what’s damaged but there wasn’t anything else. Eh. He got the loot.

“Adventurer Samson successfully pulls off a heist! Tun tun tun!”

And so he left without another word. Leaving behind the quiet treasure trove that was made for kids like him.
