Inazuma is a lone nation still untrusting of visitors. Foreigners would find themselves having difficulty visiting the archipelago. Whether it be from the people aiming to milk you for every coin you have, or the immense number of thunderstorms that buffet anyone who dares visit the area. A certain water and ice mage would certainly find that out the hard way. It would take an extreme set of circumstances for travelers to be able to visit such a place in order to amend the problems that stemmed from the Fatui managing to manipulate the controlling force.
The heroic actions of a golden haired traveler would yield fruit and eventually Inazuma became welcoming again, albeit still suffering from the abundance of Fatui troops loitering around. Though they are minor inconveniences, at least the island is at peace right now. Now Inazuma is as safe as it can be, and just like any nation the Traveller visits it now spreads many many posters of their missing sibling in the hopes to find them.
Still, Inazuma is still strict this time for a better reason. The shogun is much more harsh with the Fatui now, and would still ensure everyone who enters her island to be a safe individual through scrutiny and investigation. This at least ensured that you’d be able to visit the island for business and would not suffer losing all your gold from whatever plot certain corrupt locals have for you after forcing you to wait for days. Instead you only have to wait for days and meet some sort of progress in your situation.
But of course, when one tampers in the world of magic there are some opportunities that only open up to them. In fact this might be the primary reason why the Fatui are able to still go around and muck about thanks to the work of certain mages on their group. But the individual who got here is not aligned with them nor are they aligned with the people of Inazuma. Rather, she is her own person. A true foreigner not from these lands akin to the traveler that rescued this nation. Perhaps that might be the reason she was able to reach this place so easily eluding all necessary security measures that would blockade most travelers..
So in one of the many islands of Inazuma, a blue clad individual will find themselves in front of a confused Hillichurl. The creature was very much confused at the sudden arrival of a person who seemed to have manifested out of nowhere. There was no fancy scary lightshow or mystical horrifying portal. It was simply this woman appearing out of nowhere. In a surprise show of intelligence the Hilichurl didn’t choose to attack. Instead it tried to observe the individual that appeared.
The woman, a powerful sorceress, adept with arcane arts, found herself in an unfamiliar land. Clad in her violet cloak and lavender dress, she rested assured that her identity was largely undiscovered; though the particular circumstance of finding herself before such a strange creature left her with pause. Of certain, this was not who had summoned her - rather, she looked left and right to see who had conjured her spiritual essence from the Throne of Heroes.
Furrowing her brow in confusion, Medea studied the creature before her with a curious glance. It seemed vaguely humanoid, that much was certain - but exquisitely primitive in its nature, if its club and tribal clothing and markings were any indication. Medea was hardly a stranger to wild and fantastical creatures, having encountered more than her fair share along her various instances of being summoned by circumstances to Chaldea - the last bastion of humanity in another timeline.
The Greek woman tightened her grip around her staff, a measure of defense in case the creature attempted something hostile. “Who are you?” She asked in a commanding tone, leveling her staff at the creature.
“Yeye ika!” If the lack of prana or whatever can be associated with a proper Master wasn’t evidence enough, the fact that it raised its club was the last nail in the coffin. Perhaps it took offense at the slightest bit of holding that staff. Perhaps it just judged her that it was like the other humans, thus an enemy. “Kundala!”
With that, the hillichurl tossed itself towards Medea. There was no such friendliness in this course of action with its flimsy weapon raised. It would be of no threat whatsoever, that much she knew. But due to the distracting creature, the Witch of Colchis missed a certain someone else arriving…
#######################
From afar, a worn out figure had just arrived. Though she had just engaged in a skirmish and won against numerous samurais, they almost overwhelmed her and only through careful application of magic ensured her survival. A graceful look befitted her, with a strange blindfold like accessory, and regal blue and white robes. It was quite the contrast with the other individual who just arrived but as equally ‘mysterious’. This was a Mirror Maiden, one of the few that were still around on this island and she knew it. Ever since the Traveller’s disruption of their activities the enemies have started working against them. It was truly annoying and unfair. She let out a sigh, which is equivalent to a frustrated scream for her type of mages. There has to be a method for them in order to recover from this conundrum. A way to revive themselves and find someone or something that can change the balance of power. Even if the traveler left these lands, there were still many threats abound.
But her wish was answered as she stumbled just at the sight of what was about to happen. A strange view of a lone hillichurl attacking an individual that she has never met before. Sure there were many like that, but from the presence of magic alone, this Mirror Maiden immediately recognized the strangeness and otherworldliness of this individual.
If there was any doubt, the display of perfectly executed magical attacks that soon followed further demonstrated Medea’s prowess as a Caster. Fortunately, whoever had summoned her, or whatever had summoned her, had more than enough of a supply of energy to ensure that she could fight to her fullest. She was no Archer so she didn’t have Independent Action nor did she have a Territory set up. After all, her arrival was mere seconds ago. But this didn’t stop her from summoning lines of light that converged onto the Hillichurl attacker mid jump. Then the blast of flames, ice, and thunder followed. It was nothing more than a small display of power but it was overwhelmingly enough, vanquishing the foolish opponent. A glower darkened Medea’s Medea’s expression as she looked at the thing before her in distaste, clicking her tongue at the sight. “Most certainly, you were not what summoned me. Then-...” Turning and looking around once more, she pondered to herself, “Who has?”
“!!!” Even if the Fatui Mirror Maiden tried, she would not have been able to elude the witch’s senses.
Medea’s gaze lighting on the wounded Fatui, her apt sense for magical energy immediately clued her in. Perhaps this was the woman that saved her? She had, even from a distance, a build that was clearly tall and mature in stature - a far cry from the bestial nature of the lowly creature she had just faced. The woman appeared wounded, and that caught Medea’s attention in particular. But, firstly, what she needed was information. Approaching the woman, she spoke in an inquisitive, assertive tone. “You there, are you my Master?”
Shock. Awe. Excitement. Confusion. Intrigue. But most of all hope. Hope was the biggest one of the emotions that swarmed this Fatui. The sheer casualness of how she eradicated that creature. She could tell that whatever magic fuelled the new arrival it was barely altered. If a comparison can be made it would be more like taking a single drop from an ocean to casually defeat the Hillichurl. Sure, so many others can do that even against greater numbers. But only mages of her level can tell that this person managed to do that as casually as breathing. Maybe less. This was the person that could bring the Fatui back to their feet and challenge Inazuma again! Though she’d have to convince her or persuade her to join their side! Or so she thought till she hard the last words, only realizing after a minute of awkward silence that she had been just standing there.
“I… your master?” Her manner of speaking was soft, almost as if trying to seduce the person in front of her. It’s very rare for a confused person to sound so graceful and elegant yet the Mirror Maidens were trained to do that. It was just a part of their life that they somehow acted like that. “I’m afraid I do not understand. It is my first time meeting you and you decree me as your master?”
She had cooled down her thoughts, now focusing. The idea of this person submitting to her and working under the Fatui seemed already half-done if the mage was already asking if she’s the boss. Maybe there was a deeper misunderstanding to this but prying at this person’s mana level… There was something wild and disconnected about it. Her level of magic was indeed like an ocean, but it was also uncontained. It would continue to spill unless something were to fix that. There was a sort of lingering loose connection that one can link to. Was this perhaps a contract or so that can be made? Magical contracts like that are rare in Tiyevat yet… This person over here was living proof of that. That said… contracts are dangerous with how devils could trick you. So why would she let herself be tricked when she can instead… alter that magic to suit her? No sinister smiles formed, just the slightest bit of a calm smile forming.
“I apologize,” The Mirror Maiden bowed, only now wincing upon realizing the slight wounds she sustained. “I’m not in quite a stable state.” Though mentally she’d be a stammering blushing mess, her external posture showed anything but that. “I was attacked just earlier. But by Master you mean someone to contract to to sustain your mana?”
Medea was at least relieved to have met someone that was familiar with even that tenet of magic. There was certainly an aura of sorcery around this woman, but she hardly seemed to fit the bill to be described as one of the more powerful Magi that she had worked with previously. Still, even if this woman hadn’t been the one to summon her, Medea could tell that, even in her potential contractor’s wounded state, she would be more than capable of sustaining her. Furthermore, she could rest easy, knowing that this woman was both unafraid of confrontation, and from winning when need be. After all, she had a penchant for admiring rule breakers. Meeting her gaze, she nodded in affirmation.
“Yes, that is precisely what I mean. By form of a contract, until this anomaly, or Grail War, whichever is occurring here, has been dealt with.” Somehow, she wasn’t entirely certain if either of those were accurate. Things here seemed strange, beyond a mere warp of human history - no, rather, it felt as though it were entirely foreign. Medea knew that she had to be careful, but finding a proper and reliable Master was the first and foremost of any concern for a Servant. “There are a few things that are amiss here, I have no knowledge of where I am, nor what is happening here. A contract, naturally, is required to ensure that this is righted.”
Medea supposed that now was as good a time as any. She dropped her hood, her flowing, blue hair draping behind her back once freed from the cloth. Combing an elegant hand through for good measure, she tucked a fleeting lock behind one of her pointed ears. Still yet, she held the gaze with the Fatui. “Caster, Medea, my name. So, I ask you again: are you my master?”
‘Oh my goooodneeess! Perfeeeeeeect~! She’s one I definitely want!! Alright!! Good luck me! This day wasn’t so bad at all woooo!!’
“Yes. It would seem so,” The stoic demeanor was a complete contradiction of her internal thoughts. The Mirror Maiden’s serene smile remained there as she offered her hand, focusing her magic there. “Shall we hold hands then? By doing so I can release my magic into you and help you understand this world.”
There were things she was still unsure of. The existence of a Grail War or whatever. But if this was a Traveller, then she had every reason to persuade her to be on her side and make sure to satisfy her. Or well… Hehe. The alternative was a lot easier and less riskier. Thanks to the natural stoicness of a Mirror Maiden, there was no way for Medea to figure out that there was an ulterior motive to this one. Perhaps if she found someone else she might’ve been the final nail in the coffin to end the influence of the fatui. Instead here she was, at a very dangerous spot with an ironic situation. A very powerful witch about to submit to one that is weaker and in a more injured state.
Medea, completely unknowing of the Fatui’s plotting nature, nodded in accord at the Mirror Maiden’s suggestion. “Holding hands is a strange way of going about this, but you seem to have your wits about you, even for an injured Magi. Very well, then;” Medea brushed her hair back once more and extended a hand. “I, Medea, will offer my services to you in their fullest extent as your Servant until we solve what has happened here.” She declared with all the confidence and composure as to be expected of such a prominent figure in mythology.
A mythology that this mirror maiden had no idea of knowing.
“Indeed! I will also do the same. I will ensure that you understand everything about this world and help you get used to this world.” The intensity of what she said was a bit distinct. A cold breeze swept through as the magic manifested on the Fatui’s hand and with that she gripped Medea. A strong surge of magic sweeping through them and for a moment, the Mirror Maiden was almost overwhelmed! She would’ve drowned from the pressure and fallen. But Medea was actually letting her complete the contract safely. Meaning she had full control over her mana. Oh how exciting. Here was someone so powerful and superior to her. Yet they were just submitting like that. So what could she possibly do but not use that?
Foreign energies coursed throughout Medea as the Mirror Maiden tried to focus. Mirrors manifesting around them to better direct her energy. What she was doing was intrusive. One shouldn’t have to do this when making a contract. But this being she was casting her magic through was less human and more like a phantom made out of complicated mana formulating some sort of entirely new system, with a core at the center. That core was what she wanted to breach.
And despite the very intrusive nature of it, it was working. The Mirror Maiden was smiling fully now. The lavender dress was the first to change. A very basic alteration as the magic and coldness began to wrap around Medea. Chilling her as the outfit began to shift and warp, turning into a more and more revealing outfit, beginning to reveal more of her hips as it split below. While her shoulders were revealed as her well-hiding outfit began to look more attention grabbing with its intricate patterns. The long bright sleeves and the capewere almost a near perfect replica of the Master.
“This will feel very strange dear Medea. But I hope you understand this is natural,” It was an attempt to pacify her Servant. But it might not be unnecessary.
Medea’s brow furrowed in confusion at the sight. Perhaps it wasn’t entirely an unwarranted concern. Such foreign dress and looking so out of place might not have been the best course of action in a place as hostile as the one in which she now found herself. “Very-...well, then. Do as you wish, Master.” Medea conceded simply with a gentle nod of her head. She was loathe to part with her clothing that she had become so comfortable with, particularly when exchanging it for such ostentatious and showy attire, but she was the Servant and this woman before her was the Master.
“To be able to alter a spirit origin’s clothing in such a way, perhaps I underestimated your prowess as a Magi. Forgive my previous assumptions…” Medea murmured as she took note of the strange style of dress that began to ensconce her. “I presume this is to hide my identity, no?”
