Sue awakens to sunlight peering into her room. Her alarm clock reads 11:32 AM. "Five more minutes..." She mumbles. Six minutes later, she sits up, letting out a yawn while stretching her arms. The arm stretch leaving her arms a bit longer than usual. "M-coffee." She pulls the covers off and slides into her slippers before heading into the kitchen, her elongated arms dragging behind her.
Standing idly by the brewing pot and pouring a mug as soon as it was ready, she noticed that her coffee this day, tasted a bit more watered down than usual. A sudden feeling of shock hit her. "Oh no, I'm not infected, am I?" Attempting to test whether or not she had lost her sense of taste, she quickly pulled some leftover pizza from the fridge and took a bite. To her relief, the pizza tasted as sweet and salty as ever. "Phew... Then I must've just brewed the pot wrong." Inspecting the coffee maker, she discovered that it was the same as she had always brewed it, however she didn't realize what was different about her coffee until she looked in the mug.
Sue never takes her coffee black, but lo and behold, a mug of black coffee. She took another sip, expecting the bitter taste that she preferred to oversaturate with sugar and creamer, but there was little to no taste at all. "That's... weird..." She stirred in some sugar and creamer, and took another sip. The familiar flavor was now present. Sue now had a hypothesis. 'Maybe this is like how I can't feel pain anymore, so I can't taste flavors I don't like. Does that extend to smells? Damn. I hope my place doesn't actually stink and I just can't smell it...' Seeking another test, she opened her kitchen spice drawer, and took a pinch of cayenne pepper, and sprinkled it on her tongue. A slight tingle and spicy taste was noticeable, but it was nowhere near as spicy as she remembered it. She did the same with a pinch of sugar, and it was as sweet as ever. "Alright. I can only taste flavors that I don't hate. Good to know. I'll just have to make a note to never cook for anyone other than myself ever again."
Soon after finishing the coffee and pizza, Sue felt her energy returning to her. "Blerblerble!" She slaps the sides of her face. "Alright. What's on today's agenda?" She checks her phone's notes. "Proofread and send final video draft... shouldn't be too hard." A few minutes of re-watching the game review that she had been editing with one or two slight changes to timing, and the video was ready to send back to the studio for upload. "And... sent. Glad this one had a short script for once... which means I've got the rest of the day off." She leans back in her chair before looking downwards. "Yeesh, so I did grow a bit of chub during lockdown. Makes sense because I cancelled my gym membership back when lockdown started."
