Erin stared up dumbfounded at her gigantic daughter.
"No...that's not really what I mean-"
"Bath time! Bath time!" the excitable child chirped, reaching down and scooping up her tiny mom. Erin sucked in a breath as she was once again whisked into the air and carried away to the bathroom down the hall. She still hadn't gotten used to how quickly the world seemed to whiz by when being carried by a skipping, excitable giant.
"Hmm hmm hmm," Violet hummed to herself as she flicked on the light switch. Her eyes darted immediately to the sink as she hopped over and turned on the water. Erin's eyes went wide as she found herself getting closer to the stream.
"No! Wai!" she squeaked moments before being thrust beneath the stream of liquid. She yelped as the cold water soaked her skin, penetrating through to her bones as Violet held her beneath the water.
"Violet!" Erin sputtered, trying hard to get a word in edgewise. "Violet!"
The giant girl wasn't listening, roughly spinning her mom around as she tried to get all of the paint off. After a few moments the little girl frowned.
"It's not coming off, mama..." she said, seemingly disappointed as she pulled her doll out from under the faucet.
"I-I-It's t-t-too cold," Erin stuttered, her teeth chattering as she shivered in her daughter's hands. The little girl blinked for a moment before gasping.
"Oh right! Warm water cleans the paint better!"
For the first time, Erin felt grateful that her daughter had remembered something she'd taught her as the gigantic girl turned on the other tap. She slowly adjusted the temperature before nodding and plopping her mom down into the sink.
"You're going to need a clean dress...I'll be back!" Violet said loudly.
"Violet!" Erin called after her daughter but it was too late as Violet was already skipping out of the bathroom. Erin sighed, her teeth still chattering as she stood beneath the faucet. The water was far warmer and much more pleasant now, and despite the strength being a little higher than she had hoped, she was happy to begin regaining feeling in all her limbs. She relished the heat and warmth of the water, sighing contently for the first time as she gazed at her surroundings.
"How the heck did all this happen?" she said now that she finally had a moment to herself. Just last night she had put Violet to bed like any normal night and now...now she was shrunk to the size of a doll! Even worse...whatever authority she had seemed to wield as mom seemed to be right out the window now due to their size difference. She'd have to be smart if she wanted to avoid any more unpleasantness from the excitable child, because yelling didn't seem to work when your voice wasn't much more than a tiny squeak.
"Huh?" Erin said, suddenly aware that Violet had returned. The gigantic child was talking to someone on Erin's cell phone.
"Yea...yes we're okay Daddy...Mommy just wanted me to call you and ask when you're coming home."
Erin's heart raced. She jumped out of her makeshift shower, excitedly jumping at the edge of the sink.
"Violet! Give Mommy the phone! Please!" she squeaked, but it was apparent that Violet didn't hear her.
"Okay Daddy...we'll see you when you get home! Yes...I'll take care of Mommy! Wuv you!" Violet hung up the call, placing the phone down before beaming down at her tiny doll mom.
"Is...Daddy coming home soon, Violet?" Erin asked with anticipation.
"Uh huh, yup! He said in about an hour!" Erin frowned a little, having hoped that it would have been less time than that, but the end was in sight and she supposed she should be glad for it.
"And even better!" Violet continued, "He told me to take good care of you. So that's what I'm going to do, Mommy!"
Erin squeaked as Violet closed her hand around her, lifting the tiny woman out of the sink and plopping her back onto the counter. She squeaked again, covering herself as Violet pulled off her soaking wet and still partially-paint-soaked dress before showing Erin an even pinker, poofier princess dress that she had selected from her collection. Erin remembered giving Violet that dress for her last birthday...a decision that she now regretted.
"Arms up, Mommy!"
Erin knew better than to argue at this point and lifted up her arms as her daughter roughly pulled the ridiculous dress down onto her before feeling Violet's fingers around her yet again. Violet lifted her tiny doll into the air and Erin got a glance of herself in the mirror, blushing profusely at how over-the-top her garment was.
"I'm hungry...let's make breakfast now Mommy!"
Erin took a deep breath, remembering that her husband would be home in one hour. How much damage could one giant child do in an hour?
"Alright Violet...let's go."
